“that’s the same for me. i’m so used to the chaos that it would be weird if things were calm for once.”
“Yea exactly! Like I couldn’t handle it if it were too quiet, I need a certain amount of mess in my life to function.”

“that’s the same for me. i’m so used to the chaos that it would be weird if things were calm for once.”
“Yea exactly! Like I couldn’t handle it if it were too quiet, I need a certain amount of mess in my life to function.”
“no kidding. it’s a mess around here but i can’t complain. i prefer it.”
“I agree with you completely. I don’t think I could handle a place where things weren’t a mess.”
“that’s just the surface of them. who can forget the carnival tent fire? that was wild.”
“There’s nothing about this place that isn’t wild. I mean they quite literally let professors and students alike run amok. Not that I’m complaining.”
“professors are fucking students and still being kept on staff. something is wrong with that.”
“There are plenty of fucked up things going on at this school. But no one is going to fix them.”
“and we’re not on school grounds so all rules are off.”
“Yea you’re right. I mean not that the school does a very good job of enforcing their rules anyway.”
“the chaperones fuck the students all the time. this would be nothing new to them.”
“Hmm, you’re right. They do have their fair share of fun so why shouldn’t we right?”
“Down the rabbit hole I go,” she said, sighing softly as she let the small piece of paper dissolve on her tongue, bringing her cigarette to her lips to take a drag. Acid usually wasn’t her drug of choice, but something about being in the wilderness made it seem like a good idea. “You in?”
Willow watched the other girl and smirked, “We’re in the woods, what better place for this type of thing. Of course I’m in.” she looked over at the other girl. “How did you even score this stuff?”
“No, it’s fine. Just a scrape,” he assured her, beginning to pull out the supplies for burgers from his backpack. “I’m fine – I just,” he shrugged. “I can’t get any fucking reception out here, it’s useless. I think I’ll leave this for one of the other volunteers, do you want to walk with me to find a signal?”
Willow watched as he unloaded his bag. “Ok, as long as you’re really alright.” she smiled a little and nodded, “Yea, I could use a walk. It’s pretty nice out here anyway.” she smiled over at him.
“Oh – sorry,” he said again, unsure why the apology slipped out again. “I’m all over the place today, I think I stepped on a nail earlier with my bare foot.” He stepped back from the fire, watching his handy-work in progress. “That’ll do, I guess.”
Willow looked at Max a little concerned, “You stepped on a nail? Do you want me to look at it? Because if you did step on a nail you need like a bandaid and medical attention so you don’t get sick.” She watched him step back from the fire and sighed a little, “I don’t mean to be overbearing or anything, I just uhm-I don’t want you to be hurt.”
“maybe you’ll enjoy it. be free.”
“I think I will enjoy it. I wonder what the chaperones would have to say. Think they’d be too shocked to do anything about it.”
Camping. Max hated camping when things were going well, but now, this was even worse. He had his father on his mind, the state he was in eating at him. He poked at the fire, aimlessly trying to fuel it, but he had no idea what he was doing. He’d barely noticed the figure standing behind him, jumping with the corner of his eye caught her shadow. “Willow,” she said. “Hey. Sorry. Distracted. I wasn’t ignoring you.”
@bendlike-thewillow
Willow saw Max’s silhouette in front of the fire. She made her way over to him just to say hello. As she approached she put on a smile, when she stepped behind him she let out a small “Hey.”, before waiting for him to respond. “Oh no worries, you weren’t ignoring me. I’ve only been here a second.”
“it’s not the same thing. there’s still clothing on your body.”
“I guess you’re right. But hey you never know maybe I’ll end up shirtless as well.”
this CRUEL, callous world has chewed me up and spit me out.
[ hello, my old heart ] how have you been? are you still there? i’m so worried. you’re so still. barely beating. oh, please don’t leave me here alone.
She could have kept herself still and not bothered to do anything. However, that felt more boring than reading books. Grabbing a piece of paper and crumpling it, she threw it at the first person she saw passing by without any hesitation. ”I need to ask you something.”
Willow felt the paper hit her in the back and turned around when she heard the other girls voice. She walked in her direction and looked at the girl. “Is everything ok?”
