Its just so lovely and also so noticeable how people talk about Jess at Gotham (also at everywhere else, but particularly at Gotham) they always make a point to talk about how amazing she is.

It really is. And I feel like she has spoken about this a lot, that she really feels appreciated as a person at Gotham, not just a player.

I think there are 30 investitures across a year, and you are invited to one (I don't know if you're given a choice of date though?) And its usually within a few months - maybe 6 - of the announcement. So somewhere between here and the New Years List announcement.

I suspect they'll try to break up the Lionesses across a few different events, but ultimately its also not announced so we won't know until we get pictures of her all dressed up with a medal (or she and Ann are suddenly listed as - Out - Excused Absence 😂)

So we'll just have to wait 😭 Thank you for the info!

This game (against Curaçao) ended 7-1 by the way. So the German men's team has now traumatised another nation with that exact scoreline after doing it to Brazil in 2014. (I'm just kidding. Curaçao can be really proud of that result, I think. It was their first World Cup game ever. The Brazil game was a semi-final on home soil)

If gotham gave jess the okay to be bridesmaid at beth englands wedding im sure they'll give ann the okay to go be with jess when she gets an honour from the literal government of her home country. Theyre just hoping if they do its during a training week or something 😭 but they might get given the ability to choose dates in the breaks (which does mean that whether theyre getting married this week or in december theres a non zero chance that jess is gonna have a wedding then investiture or the other way round in the space of a few days 😂

That's true. I mean, it is such a once in a lifetime event, I'm sure they'll do whatever they can to make it work. I couldn't really find anything about a possible date the ceremony would take place, I don't think there is a fixed amount of time between announcement and actual ceremony. But if anyone knows, please tell me!

If that is the case then no one has ever had a busier week than the couple who had one international goal scored as a CB, an early WC Qualification, an MBE and a (possible?) Wedding 😂

Literally doing things most people won't even have on their bucket list! And all in one week!

The shared braincell all seeing Beth in Norway and immediately being like hmmmm, how does this impact the possible wedding 🤣 it would be very like them to ask that their most online friends pretend to not be at a wedding 🤣

But I think we do have some definite comments about the wedding being this year - I remember us being very intrigued by this article saying that its definitely happening this year. Which does leave this week or after the season (possible- wintery? And a little more difficult with the WSL timetable)

ANON I LOVE YOU! I remembered that she'd said something about the wedding in an interview where she also talked about make-up, but I couldn't for the life of me find it! (I was going through my own tags searching "make-up" lol). Thank you so much for the link!

I don't think she has specifically said summer, just 2026. And I think the source for 2026 is the Vogue interview, which they gave in 2025.

It says "the wedding next year" which would be 2026. Though admittedly this is not a direct quote so maybe Vogue did pull this out of their ass thin air. They also made a mistake in that same article where they said Jess scored against Utah, when she actually got a red card.

I think the writer literally looked at ESPN and misread this to mean that Esther, Jaelin and Jess all scored. So maybe we should take the whole "next year" thing with a grain of salt.

They also got AKB's height wrong, haha (5'9 vs 5'11).

But we all really share the same brain on here, because I also immediately looked at Beth's insta when I read that anon speculation about the wedding possibly being today (20 hours ago, Fran posted a pic of Beth and Maren in an IKEA in Norway, lol), but I just thought "well, maybe those pics are from a few days earlier?" But also, as an anon pointed out:

Okay I might Sound Crazy now but I have a theory. We all obviously know that Jess says they will get married This Summer. And Today is (by my calculation) the last saturday of Summer break, bc Next saturday AKB will be at the German House of Soccer and they also Play the Challenge Cup on the 26th so they will have to Go back to Training some time Next Week probably.

So, I thought maybe their Wedding could be Today and just out of interest (I promise i'm Not a stalker!!) I looked if Anne was online on Insta Today Which she wasn’t (last active yesterday). So it could actually be their Wedding Day🥹

We are going to see her (and probs Ann) all dressed up!! She will be invited to an investiture at either Windsor, Buckingham Palace or Holyrood, and her family/close friends will be invited (usually partner/parents from what I remember) and its a very strict dress code - formal wear, suit/fitted blazer/jacket or morning dress- I think hats are expected? I don't know if I remember too many women wearing suits tbh, but I'm sure there have been. I think theres no chance that Ann doesn't go to it - but I do suspect it might be an excused absence from a game because it does tend to happen a little after the announcement and I think you get an invite to specific ones?

(Also! Fun fact - royal invites to a married couple name the wife as Mrs John Smith, or whatever the husbads name is, which does open the question - what do you do when its a gay couple? Fascinated by British etiquette rules and how it does/doesn't include people)

Wow, that's awesome! If I had to guess, I'd say that she'll bring her dad and one of her sisters (like at the Euros), and hopefully Ann if they get the time off! That's the downside to being on the same team, right? Gotham would have to excuse 2 out of 11 usual starters. But I hope they do, if necessary!

I think everyone on here knows by now I'm a big fan of Jess in a dress, and I think Ann really pulls off a suit/tuxedo, so I'm looking forward to seeing them all dressed up!

That's so interesting! Imagine if Jess gets invited as Mrs Ann-Katrin Berger, which would be the most confusing way of finding out they are already married 😂. But that's a really good point, would they call a married woman by her wife's name? And would the rules be the same for a male/male couple and a female/female couple? (If anyone knows, please tell us! There are at least two people - anon and me - who want to know!) 😉

Oh dont worry I am also super salty about the way jess is treated by the lionesses. But also, look at their ig page - if it wasnt for the fact that a Black woman assisted a Black woman's goal last night, would there be any Black players on the front photo of their carousels? Or on show at all on their ig without watching a vid.

I noticed that as well! If their Black players are in a post, they are almost never in the first picture. Sure, if it is a line-up picture you might see one, but solo pics? No. Partly that is because there seem to be five or so players that are clear favorites and get shown A LOT (which I have opinions about at well, considering it's a teamsport), but like ... once you see it, you can't unsee it.
