I love hats. Honestly, if I receive a hat as a present, I’m the happiest person in the world and will instantaneously put it on my head. I wear one on my way to and from work everyday. Berkut cackled again as he whirled his head to the side, a crack heard from his neck. “A pawn was all he was good at. He traded his beloved for power, dooming them both. Power is a great thing and a curse.” He smirked as he locked eyes with Morgan. “The Berkut you met is dead. Try as you might, nothing will happen.” He cackled again as his horse snorted and backed away. He lanced him through the shoulder to pin him against the wall. “What a divine little treat you will be…”

Morgan shouted in pain, fighting back tears. He couldn’t cry out in agony anymore. He had to be strong. The tactician couldn’t move, the lance had pierced through his shoulder, so moving wouldn’t fair too well. His mind raced. There had to be something he could do.

A lone tear rolled down his cheek. The pain was too much. He had to have hope. He had to believe Berkut was still in there. Struggling to take a breath, he opened his mouth to speak. “You aren’t dead Berkut. That hard working and diligent man is still there. I know you are capable of love and compassion. You love Rinea. You love your country. You care deeply about your friends. Those are so admirable. You don’t need to listen to..” Morgan said softly, taking another breath. “Filth. You can get everything you want with kindness and thought. You are strong.”

Morgan screamed in agony. He thought his usual evening strolls with Berkut would be the usual. They weren’t on patrol duty, so who needed a tome? If only he had one at this point. Even a slight distraction would be better than this.

The young tactician grabbed the lance, doing his best to keep it where it was. His hands were slipping. The energy he had had earlier, was slowly draining. That wound was losing blood…and fast. Another one like it would do him no good.

His eyes narrowed as he weakly looked up at Berkut. “You’re wrong. Berkut can defeat you. I know he can eh…” he whispered, shutting his eyes tightly from the pain. “You’re wrong.”

His head snapped to look at the painted face of his victim, a twisted smile growing on his face. This was more fun than sitting around all day. He scowled as the young man grabbed his lance. He was still resisting… How cute. He used all of his strength to tear the lance out of his shoulder and twirl it. “Give up.” He said as he closed his eyes a bit. “You’re beginning to bore me with your talk. One more word will be your painful demise.” He smirked. While having control of Berkut, he was doing bits of damage to his body. He needed a new vessel anyway and seeing them painfully die together would make his day.

Morgan cried out; knees buckling. He fell the ground, unable to lean on his arms to support himself. Quietly, he laid on his stomach on the hard ground, shutting his eyes tightly. “Do it then!” He roared, eyes snapping open as he glanced up at Berkut. “You know Berkut can overcome your influence!”

Morgan squirmed, trying to push himself up, but failing to do so. His robes were wet…soaked even. His eyelids fluttered, but he persisted. No. He couldn’t give up. Berkut was his friend. Berkut was an ally. They may have different philosophies, but they needed to work together for the greater good… Morgan chuckled sadly. “You are weak Duma.”

Berkut eyed the fallen tactician dangerously. “Weak, am I?” He snarled as he twirled the lance again and slammed it through the wounded man’s chest, missing his heart by more centimeters. He went to pull it out, but finding that his vessel wasn’t cooperating with as well as it was. By damn, the prince was wrestling him for control. With one eye red and the other gray, the two struggled for complete control. Duma hissed angrily, inflicting more damage to the prince’s body. He wasn’t going down without him.

Morgan’s eyes widened. He could barely breathe. “Berkut…” He whispered tenderly, tears streaming from his eyes. “B-Berkut.” The tactician closed his eyes, pain coursing through his entire body. Everything seemed to be moving so slow.

Berkut seemed to be making a lot of noises, but Morgan couldn’t open his eyes. They just felt so heavy. He relaxed a bit. The pain was…leaving. Everything felt so peaceful. So serene. Was this what death felt like? A small smile crossed his lips unknowingly. He couldn’t feel it, but things seemed right.

"Anyone please!" He yelled out, hoping someone from their camp would be out. "Please, someone!" Keeping the lance steady in Morgan was proving difficult as he grew tired. He had to help him...
