Everyone be kinder to Louis now!
"I want to know, for example, why beauty exists," she said, "why nature continues to contrive it, and what is the link between the life of a lightning storm with the feelings these things inspire in us? [...] And I must confess that this, this maniacal curiosity or call it what you will, [...] leads me into the open countryside, away from human creation. And maybe it will lead me away from my son, who is under the spell of all things human."
Anne Rice - The Vampire Lestat
Gabrielle was such an interesting character in the books, so I wanted to do a full portrait of her book version in a similar style to my Armand portrait. I did use Jennifer Ehle as a reference for the initial sketch, but in tracing my own sketch onto the watercolour paper and then the whole colouring process, it changed quite a bit from the reference.
Gouache, watercolour and coloured pencils on hot pressed paper
Sketch of my friend's dog Nora, an ancient rescue with a permantly tragic and pleading facial expression. She is the sweetest angel baby in the world and can do no wrong.
watercolour and coloured pencil in my sketchbook
Small Gabrielle sketch, gouache (used like watercolour) on hot pressed paper.
I used a photo of Jennifer Ehle as reference, but otherwise tried to go more with her book description.
Louis in watercolour and coloured pencils in my sketchbook (which is not watercolour paper)
This was originally just a rough sketch for this painting, but I was happy enough with it to refine it a bit, and now I like it better than the colour version.
He really has that renaissance angel kind of face istg
Free him, he did everything wrong and I'm okay with that.
Gouache and coloured pencils on hot pressed paper
Very tiny studies with gouache in my sketchbook. I feel like I'm really starting to have a bit more fun with this medium
Been in a real spring kind of mood and painting some gouache miniature landscapes in my sketchbook 🌱🌼
Another experiment with watercolour and gouache.

I'm really into these kind of gold-tinged portraits at the moment, so here's Claudia again

Still haven't mentally left That Episode. Apart from the Everything Else, I also really love the gold/brown/green colour scheme they used in that episode
So here's Armand in watercolour with coloured pencils on hot pressed paper
All thoughts turned quiet, and at last I knew peace. Watercolour and coloured pencils on cold-pressed paper
All that lives must change.
Scene from a dream I had a while ago. Watercolour and coloured pencils.
