It's been a minute since I was allowed to speak to you guys, so it's a true pleasure to be back in front and to do it here in Australia is amazing. 4) Maybe I'm making it up. But I swear I can see his eyes come alive when he realizes IT'S DANIEL IN THE CAR.

Just look at him, the boy has blossomed. It was raining, and the Sun came to them.

6) That's it, he doesn't need anyone else. Daniel arrived. He is consumed by it. Max's full attention is on Daniel. What's it? A joke? Oh, let's have a laugh. His hand is busy, so he can't tuck a lock of hair behind his ear.

7) Max Verstappen behaves like a 4-time champion. But Daniel Ricciardo here...And Max turns into a child, whose goal is to make Daniel laugh, to make him look at Max. So he pressed his face to the screen in Japan 2022, or "horny," or "Do you have any experience with this?" or etc.

So he strokes the car mirror. He made Daniel laugh, he doesn't care about racing with a rookie, Max just won!

Okay now that I (finally) finished my final race roll of the year, let's just follow the trend of posting about your race roll season ^.^

Stats, Reflections and the Like (aka if you want a peek into my brain here you go)

I'm a slow writer lol on average I think I posted at least three days after a race roll was done-maybe up to a week. If I ever posted the same day of the race, it generally meant I wasn't happy with the roll or the writing or both lol

That being said, writing every weekend and knowing I was going to be doing it was really fun! It became a game, watching races of checking who was in my spots so I knew who I'd be writing lol

Okay, I think my math was correct and my most rolled number was 13. I got it six times.

Isack was definitely my most written driver. He appeared frequently. As I think, did Oscar? But I'd have to double check that one.

I tried to write every single pairing I was given except for one which I veto'd because I felt incredibly uncomfortable writing them.

I wrote 14 RPFs in total (or was it 15? either way!)

My most commonly used element was one driver getting surprised by another. I used this in almost every single roll. I guess my brain decided that was the easiest way to introduce characters into the scene.

Every single time I got Max for a roll, I made it about Max/Daniel. I will continue to make everything about them actually

My favourite fic is the Kimi & Max race roll. I just love how it turned out and the general idea of it. I'd like to write a sequel to it too especially seeing as how I have even more material for it now

It was also my most well received fic

I wrote a total of 7,492 words :)

I did end up writing Daniel too. In the retired drivers week, I spun the spinner when I had gotten Lewis because I didn't feel like writing Yuki and oop-there was Daniel. I was blessed that weekend

I started off trying to make the pairings lean into the romantic or have sexual tension but quickly realised that wasn't going to work when half the time I didn't believe it. So I just went with the vibes I felt in the moment lol

And ofc finally: a huge thank you to @powerful-owl who organised this entire fest, and keeping F1 fun for us (especially any dirlies like myself who were feeling a bit wounded by the sport.) I can't wait to see what we all come up with next year!

Do you know what Marko did in Singapore to upset the owners? I know he said Lando impeded Max in qualifying (implied it was on purpose), and Liam crashed twice in practice. There were multiple people who said Helmut was very upset: "Jeroen Bleekemolen believes Lawson’s second practice crash at the Singapore GP in FP3 on Saturday was too much for Red Bull...Helmut Marko, I think he pulled out his last grey hairs when that happened the second time. The first time, he said, ‘Well, OK, that can happen, it’s part of street racing’. But then immediately after that, he crashes again." 😭😭😭 Did Liam sucking so bad help kill Helmut? 😭😭😭

HELP that would honestly be incredibly hilarious.

Also I would kinda believe it given Marko's notoriously short patience when it comes to driver's underperforming, his comments about Lawson's struggles throughout the season and the fact he tried to hire two new juniors to fully replace the Vcarb lineup for next year.

Plus narratively delicious that exactly one year on from Singapore the guy they replaced Daniel with was so terrible that it caused Marko to open his mouth and finally piss off Red Bull enough to make him a persona non grata.

daniel inexplicably wakes up a driver in the 1981 caesars palace grand prix. it’s in a bloated, dusty parking lot and he has to tame this fucking growling beast of steel into submission through nauseating intestinal twist while desert dirt blows into his mouth. and he’s the one who dies. every time. he dies on concrete barriers and he wakes up and it’s still 1981 but it’s exhilarating and it’s all the best gritty parts of racing before they bleached it clean and max is always there. his one contemporary with a tom selleck mustache and a beefy frame who doesn’t know he wasn’t supposed to be born for another 16 years.

it’s gambling and boxing and show girls and cocaine, it’s buffets and smoking and fake opulence and dirty swimming pools and no one here knows who the fuck they are, they all just came for frank sinatra’s vegas residency. it’s running naked through the spumey fountains and prank calling his young parents and it’s—once—blowing a guy in a pill-strewn alley and getting caught by max who’s mutinous and not just in a period typical way, in a jilted lover way, who’s shaking so hard his teeth rattle, who says, “you do this but of course when i touched your ankle you made me feel wrong.” and daniel’s rocked into the caverns of his own cerebral folds back to when his own max—no mustache, skinny—looked up at him from his gross motorhome carpet where he was playing a video game—something older, a long black cable connecting the controller—and ran his thumb in one warm-damp circle around daniel’s ankle. daniel was just on the bench fucking around on his phone and he’d jerked like an old-brain knee reflex then stood up before his new-brain knew what was happening. you made me feel wrong.

daniel races and crashes and dies and races and crashes and dies and dreams of finding real max and telling him he was right. about daniel and about everything important to be right over. but it’s still 1981 so he plays a frank sinatra vegas residency cassette tape from a tourist shop for this max and presses a loop of kisses around his bony ankle, saying, sorry sorry sorry and then it’s the future—the present—and the vegas strip is an electrical storm of light. when max wins the race he sings into the radio, raspy, jazzy sinatra: it was a very good year.
