Business Plan
The original goal I had for the Business Plan course was to become a Master. . . and I have! Business Plan complete.
I cannot believe that it has been a year since I embarked on this crazy journey! So much has grown me into the person I am today. Nerves and questioning my decision to get a Masters in Entertainment Business were erased one step at a time throughout this program and was solidified within this class.
Business Plan was the class I needed most because it taught me that I was able to conduct my own business one day if that is what I chose for my future. It also taught me what I will bring to a company.
Overall, I am so proud of all I have accomplished and I am so thankful for and to Full Sail University as well as all of my classmates!
Business Plan Development
Business Plan Development is concrete for a business to properly be created and operated. With that said, a business plan can break or make a business. Prior to the program or this course I did not have an overwhelming knowledge of conducting business; therefore, the original objective for Business Plan Development was to create and establish a business plan that would provide a new perspective in the Entertainment Industry of Music. The goal was met by the course because I learned the fundamental need and niche of what the market needs and I also learned how to research and present in a business plan.
The insight, skill and outcome I have obtained within the course has made me know the music industry more in depth and to understand all the working parts of it that I had not known prior. This course has also made me confident in the business I plan to be involved in and also on how to present this to others. I learned from this course that to be a business woman I must always bring something unique to the industry that others have not and must always keep the vision of my business to serve the market.
Business Plan Development has personally given me confidence. Personally, I now am aware of the day-to-day business of the entertainment industry of music as well as why this industry is successful. Professionally, Business Plan Development has given me the outlook I would have if I wanted to become a business woman and have my own within the entertainment industry of music. Also, professionally this course has given me the skillset and tools to create and present a business plan to investors.
Overall, I have learned tremendous amounts of concepts and experience and look forward to the future.
Entertainment Media Publishing and Distribution
The original goal for Entertainment Media Publishing and Distribution was to become aware of the guidelines and parameters for entertainment industry content and use of this content across all areas. Also, the goal was to be able to learn the proper route to maintain credibility of content and rapport across industry channels. By achieving both of these goals it would mean both business and client are relevant to chosen entertainment industry.
Within this course, the goals were met and superseded on many educational levels along with skill set. From the concepts, I have learned throughout Entertainment Media Publishing and Distribution I now feel more confident in myself as a business woman and as an asset to other business in the entertainment industry of music. Based on the knowledge I have gained from this course alone I feel that I am better able to market my business and my client in a way I would have not been able to before.
What I learned from Entertainment Media Publishing and Distribution is how to create and market press kits, evaluation and research of print-on-demand (POD), enlisting aggregators to ensure content gets out there, as well as how publishing and distribution channels work in the entertainment industry; especially music.
Material learned throughout Entertainment Media Publishing and Distribution can be applied personally by giving me as a business woman a competitive advantage in confidence on promoting myself and what I can bring to the table. Professionally, Entertainment Media Publishing and Distribution has provided me a knowledge and tools that previously did not resonate with me. In a professional manner, I now can be more hands on in my business and the way it is conducted and promoted within the industry.
Entertainment Media Publishing and Distribution overall has taught me so much and is thus far one of my favorite and most beneficial courses, personally, for emerging in the entertainment industry of music.
Advanced Entertainment Law
Prior to Advanced Entertainment Law I had no expectations besides nervousness. Being without any knowledge of the entertainment industry with the exception of what I have learned thus far in the program, I felt anxiety towards AEL in hopes I would be able to understand and produce wonderful work.
The initial objective I had for Advanced Entertainment Law was to learn parameters and provisions of entertainment law, focusing on music, since that is the focus area of my business. Once I learned the parameters and provisions I hoped to develop knowledge of strategies regarding my businesses content within an industry that has continual trend changes. AEL met my original course objective but it also exceeded it. The concepts and resources I learned have made me more confident in how I will progress in my business and has really allowed me to narrow down what direction I would go for my business, if I chose to have my own one day. AEL has resonated with me so well that I have utilized some of the things learned to help fellow music industry patrons.
Within AEL I have interpreted and taken to well is based on Intellectual Property, how to protect it, and the common trends in law based on IP’s. Identifying the various IP’s that my business would need to protect and likely encounter issues with has really given me an advantage in learning from another’s legal issues, as stated by our professor.
Personally, and professionally, I can apply the concepts that I learned to ensure that my business is as legitimate as it can be as well as successful. From the personal standpoint, I will be authentic when communicating with any individual while on the professional standpoint I will remain relevant on industry court cases and also on the amended entertainment laws.

Product and Artist Management (PAM)
The original objective I had for Product and Artist Management was to learn the fundamentals to successfully promote talent by connectivity to the product and talent based on their connection with it and also the connection I can have on the product as an Artist Manager. Originally, clearly, I had obscure knowledge of what this course would fully entail but ultimately, the goal was met but truly there was so much more that I learned and took from this course that will tremendously impact my future business and my role as the leader of that business.
Product and Artist Management is all about the daily hustle that the entertainment industry requires regardless of the specific area. PAM is all about the creativity and risk you take in the business for the business of the show. Passion as the Artist Manager and for the product are crucial to success and identifying the products and level the talent can achieve. Breaking down this course I learned that Product Management is the largest component to implement in business because it alone can be the most profitable if executed correctly. Product Management is all about focusing on what the target audience wants and how to create it to cater to that while promoting the talent; however, products are about the lifestyle or experience it brings to the target audience. Artist Management, on the other hand, is building and creating the talents brand and image to the target audience. Artist Management is also about my ability as the Manager to promote the talent and to sell them to the audience and make them known and ‘needed’.
Overall, PAM will personally and professionally help guide me in so many ways. Personally, I will be able to take what I learned in PAM as a way to be a direct leader and to be influential in my leadership, using platforms for positivity in an industry full of negativity and/or trends. Professionally, PAM will allow me to create and build a brand that provides the target audience with a lifestyle and/or experience provided by the talent I represent and their products/platforms. The entertainment industry is all about the business of the show and providing entertainment yet music specifically, in my opinion, is creating reality for the target audience for their selves as well as their world worldwide because music is color-blind as we learned in class and it is also the rarest form of truth in our current society. Once again, that is my opinion but that is the reason I feel PAM was personally and professionally resourceful is it helped me identify what I envision for my business and its talent.
Negotiation and Deal-Making
Prior to entering the course Negotiation and Deal-Making I had set a goal to be able to learn the skills of interpreting the other parties view point towards the negotiated topic. I also accompanied this by wanting to learn the key fundamentals to properly negotiate in deal-making.
Exceeding my goal, Negotiation and Deal-Making has not only met my original objective but surpassed it giving me confidence in my ability to analyze, evaluate, and then respond when negotiating not only in business but personally. The skillset and tools I have learned from the course content are crucial to negotiating; specifically, the takeaway of prepping prior to one, identify and implementing objective criteria, and to always respect the opposing parties’ reaction and stance in the negotiation.
Future negotiation and deal-making I am apart of and conduct will be more direct and successful because of the content I have learned within this course. Professionally, future endeavors will be based on the position and interest of the business but also based on the businesses BATNA. However, I do not feel it is necessarily best to always go in knowing the BATNA because it means you may have already lost because of the mindset obtained to accepting what initially is not wanted yet as I said, personal opinion. Personally, future endeavors will now be decided on based on preparation and research of not only the position and interest of myself but the subjective one the opposing party may have. To be successful is to take away a hostility the negotiation may cause and remain optimistic on what the outcome can be and how to best navigate towards it and then once achieving it learn the best route to maintaining it.
Overall, I feel very confident, encouraged and enthusiastic toward all future endeavors I will encounter.
Faith
You have to have vision.
...Even if you do not have all yes’ does not mean everything else is a no.
If you want something you have to go get it.
Digital Marketing
Digital Marketing, I assumed, would entail creating several digital campaigns to promote my future business; therefore, the digital marketing goal I had was to create a successful digital music campaign for an artist I had found to work with, Henny Hendrix. However, digital marketing was not focused on our ability to create digital promotions but to understand the way to be digitally effective and to understand the tools needed to give our business a strong digital presence.
To better understand digital marketing concepts learned thus far in the course I watched Small Business Marketing Fundamentals with Brad Batesole through Lynda.com. Reviewing the video there were three key takeaways that I feel will benefit my business: Customer Feedback, Marketing Channels, and Value Proposition. The importance of customer feedback is to determine if your brand resonates with the audience, which can be evaluated by the customers influence to discuss or recommend your business to others. Vital to business success will be identifying marketing channels, determining the method of market channel used and after that communication of the market channel to relate with the target consumer. For my business, I believe personalized marketing; for example, resources of online or social media will be most useful. Lastly, the most integral component to evaluate for my business is the value proposition. Value proposition defines your business and allows you to identify what makes it unique in an otherwise competitive market. Value proposition that is successful will generate notoriety of your business brand.
Overall, the information I learned from the Lynda.com course Small Business Marketing Fundamentals with Brad Batesole will be applied personally and professionally. Personally, I will be able to develop my role for the business whereas professionally, I will be able to create, identify, and implement the role of my business in the industry.

All the fear in my heart I couldn’t let you see.
Roses On A Breeze by Bear’s Den is a beautifully written song resonating for me the internal battle of the mind and the heart. Many would say always follow your heart but I believe the mind should be followed. The heart has reason sometimes unknown to the mind but the heart is the biggest battle we have with ourself in realization and understanding. To lose that ‘love of your life’ is to lose part of yourself and I believe that is why you often never move on in a sense from your first love because they hold the piece of you that you separated yourself from.
Entertainment Business Finance
Initially, for Finance the goal I had was to learn cost effectiveness when deal-making and negotiating while creating my business’s sustainability in the industry. The course has helped me understand financial concepts through key concepts and terms that I now resonate with and being able to apply them. The assignments and discussions throughout the course have really taught me it isn’t necessarily about the deal-marking or negotiation but the importance is identifying the financial needs of my business beginning with the start-up cost and going from there. Financials is also an umbrella term that I had not realized covered such a wide variety of items I never knew to consider when going into business.
Overall, Entertainment Business Finance was more difficult than I had imagined the course would be but it also extremely enlightened my financial business awareness and understanding. Prior to this course I had no background in finances let alone business but I now realize that in order for it to be successful regardless of an accountant handling the money it is important for me as the owner to understand the importance of money. Our assignments were crucial to my learning of the concept of finance and I feel throughout them regardless of the struggles I had I learned beneficial information and have been able to retain and now apply the information.
The overarching take away I learned from the Entertainment Business Finance course is that finance rules all you will do but it is knowing what and where you want your business to go that will determine success based on your financial endeavors. In order to achieve your financial success, you must start small and continue to growth from there. Finances are overwhelming but are maintainable if you keep a straightforward knowledge of them and your business.
Business Storytelling and Brand Development
Business Storytelling and Brand Development was a course I looked forward to most in order to learn the basics and foundation to creating my business’ brand and personal brand. Originally, I wanted to take away from this course was defining the storyline that would represent my business and my brand.
Throughout this course my original objective was met by giving me insight into what business storytelling is, how integral it is, and what it means to define your personal brand while doing this. I realized that it is important for both of these to co-exist well with one another for both to be successful. From the course content, I learned that in order for your business to tell its story you must know the audience you want to impact as well as the message for that impact. I also learned the business brand development along with the personal brand can only be achieved by remaining unique compared to other competitors in the industry but it must also be true to what you want your brand to represent.
Personally, I can apply what I learned in Business Storytelling and Brand Development to create and develop what it is I want to represent in the music industry and ultimately what I want my business brand to represent. Achieving this will mean I am impacting the industry in a unique way which will mean my business can successfully story tell that. Professionally, therefore, I will be able to have my business represented through storytelling of music’s impact on reality.
Overall, I want Business Storytelling and Brand Development to represent the way music has impacted my life and the goal I have to in turn have it impact others.

I absolutely love this song; I always have. For me it is teaching the principle of self love. I believe if you cannot love yourself then you cannot love someone else; therefore when the lyric says I keep dancing on my own, personally, it means for me that continual progression of learning you are enough and what your role is in this world.
