Entertainment Business Finance
Initially, for Finance the goal I had was to learn cost effectiveness when deal-making and negotiating while creating my business’s sustainability in the industry. The course has helped me understand financial concepts through key concepts and terms that I now resonate with and being able to apply them. The assignments and discussions throughout the course have really taught me it isn’t necessarily about the deal-marking or negotiation but the importance is identifying the financial needs of my business beginning with the start-up cost and going from there. Financials is also an umbrella term that I had not realized covered such a wide variety of items I never knew to consider when going into business.
Overall, Entertainment Business Finance was more difficult than I had imagined the course would be but it also extremely enlightened my financial business awareness and understanding. Prior to this course I had no background in finances let alone business but I now realize that in order for it to be successful regardless of an accountant handling the money it is important for me as the owner to understand the importance of money. Our assignments were crucial to my learning of the concept of finance and I feel throughout them regardless of the struggles I had I learned beneficial information and have been able to retain and now apply the information.
The overarching take away I learned from the Entertainment Business Finance course is that finance rules all you will do but it is knowing what and where you want your business to go that will determine success based on your financial endeavors. In order to achieve your financial success, you must start small and continue to growth from there. Finances are overwhelming but are maintainable if you keep a straightforward knowledge of them and your business.
