My favorite stock artists on deviantArt, for my own reference, but also in case anyone wants some pretty sweet stock images (though most of these people are fairly well-known).
ahrum-stock has the most insane poses. Seriously HQ dude.
mjranum-stock has an incredible range of poses, costumes, models, lighting, and angles. Also verrryyyy HQ.
senshistock has so many stock photos available it blows my mind. Not many different setups, but she always has unique poses and props.
fairiegoodmother I just think the female model is really pretty.
yellow-stock more pretty ladies, I’m sensing a pattern.
felixdeon this dude has some of the weirdest gay fetish stock ever (that’s not true) but he also has an extensive gallery of male nude stock photos which is pretty hard to come by (heh heh come by).
Probably will add to this later as I rediscover photos. Enjoy if anyone is so inclined.
this is very useful
rebloobin, this is awesome and I’ve had a few of these people on my DA watch list for a while now. LIFE DRAWING, PEOPLE.
hi! you draw really nice hands, could you give some tips/make a tutorial?
sure!! this is quick and i dont have much of a method so?
i kinda start out with a box shape for the palm and make some tic marks to plan out where the fingers go
then box out some fingers
and darken out the details!
here’s some more examples too!! i always like to exaggerate the position of the thumb and pinky to make the pose of the hand more interesting?? give it more character? it’s a hand
The tutorial of how I achieve watercolor effect in Sai! :) I highly recommend using real watercolor paintings (your own or ones found on the internet) as reference.
And here you can find a few useful links:

OK this Emofuri thing is confusing, let's try Live2d's Cubism!
the software is similar to emote/emofuri, a little more complicated though, with modeling, texture maps and set up is different, but at least it’s in English! with an extensive how to manual and dozens of sample models to play around with
there’s free version you can download
I picked up this program almost instantly, after struggling with emofuri all day (T^T I’ll try again another time), I really just wanna jump into this style of animating
As requested, a tutorial on how I approach lips. This is just how I see them, but I hope it helps!
hey, everyone! just finished the cover art for the first issue of an art/aesthetic zine, that will be distributed online and through san francisco and the bay area, nouveau.
the deal with this zine is that anybody, any artist, who wants to submit their work and have it published in the zine, can drop it in my submit box for now (we’re working on the blog for the zine itself), or email it to me (i’m not going to publish my email so just message me privately and you shall receive), and have it spread around the internet and, of course, san francisco.
think of it as a little roaming catalogue to spread your work (you can submit contact info and a bio), and with each new issue featuring new work and artists to take in
the artwork can be anything; photography, sculpture (well, photography thereof), paintings, digital artwork of any kind, writing (one page), doodles, anything.
10 artists will be selected per issue, and we’ve already received two submissions, so if you want to take part in this first issue, please submit, and contact me! if you don’t want to be part of the first issue, but want to be printed in the next ones, same deal! if you need clarifications, ask away!
even if you aren’t interested in submitting your artwork, please spread this around! this is a really exciting project and we can’t wait to see it come to fruition.
thank you for your time!

figure 1: head drawings by Andrew Loomis, 1956
figure 2: women’s head designs can be generated by the same methods, they don’t have to all look very nearly the same
Some food for thought for drawing women and avoiding drawing a single female face. Too often artists seem to be afraid to give women big noses or lines or other distinguishing features, and we end up with the same face on all the characters. I’ve been browsing a lot of genderswap art lately and I’ve noticed that when male characters with large noses, thin faces, wrinkles, or other features get genderswapped, they end up with small noses, round faces, and no wrinkles, and they no longer look distinct. Just some references and a reminder that women’s faces have all sorts of different features, and you don’t need to just have small cute features with no wrinkles to have a character look female.
in case youre still looking for a decent drawing program
have you tried mypaint?
its free
its open source
works for windows, linux and mac
90% of the window space is where you draw, no clunky and messed up menus
performance-wise
supports layers
the canvas is basically unlimited, the program automatically chooses a dimension for your picture when you save
easy (but not too limited) brush creation
overall fucking awesome

Trakoclock asked:
Hey, if you don’t mind sharing, I’ve always wondered how you got that soft celling look on your characters in your comic. Any tips? I’m currently working on my own comic and I kind of want to go for a less harsh form of cell shading. Thanks!
A couple people have asked about the way I color things and I’ve been meaning to post a tutorial on it :]. I’ve never been too good at describing my process, but I hope this helps!
Hey SAI users
Get your acrylic brush and give it these settings
Just
Just trust me
At first I was like “meh” but then I blended it… damnd. I normally do cel-shading but this is pretty sweet.

animation tutorial part. 1 AKA “the secret of animation”
My classmate Giovanni Braggio made this wonderful tutorial video on how to animate in Maya as a final project at the Professional Animation Course I have attended to at The Animation Workshop in Viborg. It’s a real eye opener. Watch it. To the finish. You won’t regret it!
This is the best everyone please watch.
Wanted to post recent work in a bloc! First two are from the past two days; First is a Fahrenheit 451 piece that I started today, WIP, and the second is a sketchbook page from the 5th/6th inlaid with late night automatic writing.
Forgot to post these here!! Progress on my 1984 diptych.

I can tell, long time ago I saw this, and true this is one of the most useful things at the moment to pose a character in 3D. worth a reblog
