the sound of keys jingling by the front door told you your boyfriend was home but because you were already tired as hell from your own job, you didn’t bother getting up. you heard him enter the bedroom and set his things down by the end of the bed, followed by the rustling of clothing hitting the floor.
“baby,” the bed dipped as he crawled up next to you, making it a point to run his warm hand up your exposed leg. “wake up.”
you groaned in response, snuggling your face further into the pillow. he only chuckled at your actions and wrapped his arm around your waist to turn you over, facing him.
with a frustrated sigh, you cracked your eyes open just enough to glare at him which he only laughed at.
“if you’re horny, hyuk, you can go jack off in the bathroom.” you told him. “but keep it down.”
he shook his head with a small smile and took your wrist in his hand gently, guiding it up his chest. “look.”
there was a beat before you blinked away some sleepiness and looked down at where your hand was hovering over, eyes focusing on his skin where the ink lay before letting out a loud gasp.
“oh my god! hyuk?!”
“you don’t like it?” you could hear the pout in his voice but you paid him no mind.
when he released you wrist, your finger immediately went to trace the closest line of the tattoo, pulling back and looking up at him just as fast when you felt him flinch.
“sorry, does it hurt?”
he hummed in response, “not really, your fingers are just a little cold.”
“sorry.” you murmured again, this time slowly going over the lines of fresh ink on your boyfriend’s skin.
you stared at the smoke like pattern diligently, getting confused as to what the flowers were doing in the midst of it all. maybe it was symbolism? of what though?
as you were staring at the piece of art, trying to decipher it and why on earth your boyfriend got this huge thing, hyuk was also staring at you, the look of pure love and a little bit of worry filling his gaze.
he called your name, breaking your trance from tracing patterns over the ink. “do you like it?”
you scooted closer to him, half of your body over his as you leaned over to place a gentle kiss on one of the flowers by his neck. “it’s beautiful.”
when you looked up at him, you found his eyes closed and his face relaxed into a peaceful expression. you continued tracing lines as you attempted to figure out what his new tattoo meant, pressing occasional kisses up his neck and jaw.
the next time you looked up at him, you were sure he had fallen asleep. as his arms were already around your waist, you just settled yourself on the space where his chest wasn’t inked and began drifting off to sleep.
“it’s a plum blossom,” he whispered into the air after a few moments. if you weren’t half awake, you wouldn’t have caught it. “for my mother.”
“you’re beautiful,” you replied in a heartbeat.
he laughed at your response and tightened his hold around you. “what, not handsome?”
you shook your head. “no, you’re beautiful. and sweet.” there was a pause before you spoke again, snuggling into his chest before yawning. “and I love you.”
hyuk’s heart swelled with fondness, looking down at the sleeping girl in his arms. his hand came up to push the hair out of her face and leaned down to press a light kiss to her forehead. “I love you too, baby”
