On The Flip Side
Our post the other day was a bummer huh?
After a few days of wallowing in the fact that we're homesick and things are exactly what we thought they would be - we are over it now and starting to look on the bright side. Sometimes you just need a few days to get the tears out right?
In looking on the bright side we've decided to focus on things that keep getting put on the back burner. R is committing to trying at least 1 new recipe a week. We are going to finish unpacking and try our hand at building a bookshelf out of pallets. We've already reorganized our bookshelves: We have a couple of fiction shelves, bio's and memoirs; women's/gender studies are together; and all things entertainment are on the bookshelf that is now doubling as an entertainment center :) It was a little scary at how in the zone R got when doing that task. We're challenging ourselves to not eat out at all. We've already pretty much cut out soda (other than the occasional Buffalo Rock) - we are also cutting out fast food again. And we've taken to walking anywhere we need to go around the apartment (grocery store, coffee run, costco).
In January we set out to be better people and to do better things. So yes, we were bummed out a few days ago, but we are back now. Ready for the next couple of years out here to make us a stronger couple and better people.
