I was the fourth from the right and she was standing behind.
I lifted my eyes only to realise I could move ahead a step or two but she she could be won only by might.
so I left my block I changed my place,
We used to stand in a line,
I didn’t want to be just one amongst the eight.
The Bishop says it’s a disgrace,
The Royals and Knights never change their ways
And I , a pawn , lest I should present my case,
Should touch the end of the board , change my face.
They have their grace, their gait,
They change their religion , they change their way.
My love is black and white.
My Queen is the perfect grey.
