My lovely MiL has turned her two spare rooms into gorgeous pre wedding boudoirs, one for the bridesmaids (I and B) and the other for the bride (yes, me!!!) There are chairs for make-up and hair dressing and there's even a thing to rest your head on when the hairdresser is washing your hair...!

My sister will get ready with the girls (she's giving me away) and they all have their own chair, so they can all be worked on at the same time. The benefits of marrying into a military family mean the logistics and planning are tighter than a duck's bum.

All the dresses are hanging portentously ready for deployment and flowers are arriving tomorrow, just for the dressing rooms! It looks like the set-up for Russian film, where the DP will sweep the camera majestically up the stairs, catching the nervous but expectant faces of the bridal party, with one eye on an Palm D'or nomination for his bravura one-take masterpiece.

My two in laws have affected the roles of good cop/bad cop for my stay with them. He (bad cop obvs) is making sure his headquarters is never allowed to exhibit the trappings of a girl-fuddled brain, and She (lovely cop obvs) is providing lots of cuddles and encouragement, scones, tea, and chocolate.

I mean I get it, a man wants his castle to be in the precise order that it needs to be for maximum efficiency (a pity his son hasn't quite taken on so much of that part of his own life) something about economy of movement I think. Weirdly my own OCD makes me that person in my own home, although apparently my standards do not pass muster here.

Although when I handed him his coffee this morning, he did look right into my eyes and smile and then he sort of nodded and said 'you'll do'

First crack in the armour? Feels like I'm in a film of my own life...

Although I think the soundtrack is being played by a three year old with a broken toy xylophone.

Wish me luck, I'm all ready to go. I think I've got everything (who am I kidding, I have no idea if I've got everything!) anyway, it wouldn't be the end of the world to have to pop back would it?

The cat's in a mood (when was he not?) he'll only be on his own until Wednesday and the neighbours going to pop and and make sure he doesn't miss his mountain of fresh roasted chicken. Although he hasn't actually been quite as hungry as normal in this heat, so several chicken farms have recently filed for bankruptcy !

I have an hour's journey in the car, just me and James' dad (yes the one that terrifies me) but Ellie's making homemade fish and chips. Hopefully I'll put back on a couple of pounds this week.

I don't anticipate any problems blogging while I'm away, but if the flow of word soup seems thinner than usual it's not cause I don't love you 😊
