Now a days people seem to lack a sense of stability and character. This lack of stability is inherently caused by lack of sincerity in our actions and lives. Sincerity lies in the heart of every human being when they are born. At the core of the innocence of the curious four year old is a genuine sincere desire to gain knowledge and learn what our world truly is. But now, with the advent of the grade based school system, no longer do our students want to understand the world, they simply want to get the A. And this is only one example. Rather than being a friend out of sincerity we want to have the best twitter ration, or more friends on facebook. Thus we need to be sincere in our lives.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-20093919 The muslim Bosnian by the name of Sarejavo had covered some 5,700 kilometres (3,540 miles) in 314 days of walking through Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Syria and Jordan to the Muslim holy city in south-western Saudi Arabia (MECCA), with a backpack weighing 20 kilos (44 pounds). He had done all this due to his sincerity. So that he may fulfill one of the 5 great pillars of Islam hajj. This man portrays and is a role model for us in how we can be sincere in our worship of Allah exalted.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Religion is Sincerity.” We asked: “To whom, O Messenger of Allah?”

Sincerity is the essence of the religion as understood the the beloved speech of pbuh. This is a very weighty statement showing the importance of sincerity in Islam. It brings us immediately to ask the question that the Companions asked: Sincerity to whom?

Sincerity to Allah: Being sincere to Allah is of paramount importance in Islam. There are two aspects to this sincerity. The first of these is sincerity in worship. We must worship Allah alone, offering all of our devotions to him and to no other. The second is sincerity in our belief. We must have absolute faith that Allah alone is our Creator, our Sustainer, and our Lord. Allah says: “They were not commanded but that they should worship Allah sincerely and worship none but Him, and that they should perform prayer and pay Zakâh. That is the right religion.” [Sûrah Al-Bayyinah: 5] A popular story found online of a Muslim Bosnian man who portrayed sincerity in its grandest form:

The man that you see on the right is Joey. He was shy and nervous about coming to the gym because he was fearful of what other people might think. Joey’s friend Jake on the left is on the left. Jake decided to start to dress up in goofy outfits to take the attention away from Joey, while he exercises. Calling Jake nice would be an understatement because kind is exactly what he is. Joey intentionally puts himself in distress to make Joey feel comfortable. Jake is doing what he genuinely feels and believes, despite himself doing something that would make him feel uncomfortable.

The Egyptian revolution of 2011 was hard fought battle between the people of Egypt and the oppressive government of Mubarak. Mubarak’s government ruled by instilling fear into the hearts of the people and forced Egypt into an unrelenting state of emergency which lasted for 31 years only to be lifted after Revolution. People from various different backgrounds were at the front of the revolution, this was a time when people put their differences aside and fought together against a dictator. In the photo below we can see Christian’s protesters holding hands and forming a line to protect the Muslim while they prayed. This is truly one of the most heartfelt moments of the revolution, people being united under the banner of right over wrong rather than being divided by religious and sectarian differences.
