YG Entertainment has revealed the name of the title track of Song Mino’s first solo studio album ‘XX’ by posting a poster on its official blog, YG Life, today the 16th at 4 pm.
In the poster, Song Mino looks into the viewers through a veil of hair with a fierce gaze that mesmerizes the viewers. The ornate and sensual fashion adds sophistication to the poster, and these elements heighten the curiosity about the new concept that Song Mino will introduce with this release.
Song Mino will be releasing a novel style of hip hop with his title track ‘FIANCE’ a song that carries a vibe that is somewhat unexpected of him. Song Mino himself composed the song and the lyrics, raising the song to ultimate perfection. Future Bounce and Texu have participated in the composition and the editing.
‘FIANCÉ’ uses electric organ sound as its lead and a sampling of a 70s Korean Pop song ‘Soyang-gang Maiden’ (Soyang River Maiden), melting into hip hop genre both Korean sentiment and Asian mood. By metaphorically referring to a dearly missed love one as ‘아낙네* (lady/woman’ and ‘Blue Bird,’ he produced a soft yet fierce hook, embodying heart-wrenching emotions and sound in his music.
Song Mino showed his powerful and fierce side with his solo track ‘I’M HIM’ in WINNER’s debut album, and grew as a rapper in his own right through ‘SMTM4.’ He strengthened his influence as a rapper as ‘FEAR’ and ‘OKEY DOKEY’ became hits.
In his first digital solo single ‘BODY,’ released in 2016, he made the dreamlike and groovy music his own. Last April, music fans showed a lot of love to his self-composed solo track ‘TURN OFF THE LIGHT,’ included in WINNER’s second studio album.
Song Mino’s first studio album ‘XX,’ which will show his finesse as a musician that he developed over the years and his diverse attempts at interpreting hip hop, will be released on November 26th.
*아낙네 (ah-nak-nae) is rather an archaic word that refers to a cult women, married or unmarried, who are not part of your family. It can roughly be interpreted as ‘lady’ or ‘woman’ in English. Being rarely used in modern settings, it is sometimes used to bring about a sense of nostalgia, to refer to olden times of Korea, or to refer to a traditional Korean sentiment. The word also carries a certain note of agricultural settings as a lot of Koreans participate din agriculture during times this word was more often and widely used. Mino probably used this word to convey a Korean sentiment and a reference to olden days in order to bring about the vibe and longing emotion in hereunto in the old Korean pop song he sampled, ‘Soyang River Maiden.’
