It's nuts how common it is to not allow children to be angry, even (especially) in households where adults are angry all the time. As a child I knew my own anger was unacceptable--not just expressing it outwardly but feeling it at all. So now as an adult my immediate reaction to my own anger is often to feel guilt instead of like. Noticing when someone is being rude or unfair or my boundaries are being violated or whatever. fucked up.

also I don't think parents "these days" are uniquely terrible, I just think neglect is showing up in new ways as technology progresses. today's ipad kid would've been wandering around in a ditch alone all day and night before. parents not wanting to have to deal with children is not a new phenomenon.

Just finished the INTRODUCTION - the fucking INTRODUCTION - to Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit. Between that and the preface, that's 60 pages, 1/10th of the book. All to discuss how consciousness and knowledge operates.

This motherfucker is a trial. What's wild is, compared to Hegelian dialectics, dialectical materialism seems almost... juvenile in it's simplicity. Like, Marxist dialectics are a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the larger whole that Hegel's system encompasses. That's not to say I disagree with dialectical materialism, but to say it is an INFINITELY simpler system.

Holy shit I can’t wait until 50 years down the track when the US is finally seen as and written about in textbooks as the truly fucking disgusting perverted organism that it is. I can’t wait for people to say “fuck, the nazis were bad but they’re nothing compared to America.” I can’t wait for the sun to shine on a world where the 50 Stars and Stripes or whatever bullshit it is is considered more offensive than a swastika (side note: I would like that to be reclaimed to buddhists and other cultures that used it as it has been around for a few thousand years.) I can’t wait for Steel Ball Run to be seen as the brilliant scathing critique of America that it is and the second episode which I’m assuming will come out around the same time. I believe humans always learn and the bigger our mistakes the bigger we learn so hopefully when we’re done with red white and blue we can come around to some kind of red and yellow idk. I just want America to be over 😢
