My mom never whipped me. She’d grab my ear lobe, jam her thumbnail in it, twist it until I was on my tippy toes, and walk me to my bedroom, to await my dad, who would punish me! The real trick was the hours until he got home, running scenarios of what he might do! He spent the better part of 14 years, wearing out a razor strap, on my ass! It got much better between us when we argued over the use of his car. He knocked my young ass out! It didn’t hurt at all. But I learned to respect my boundaries and not mouth off to him anymore.
