Yesterday we went exploring around the Plateau in Montréal and in a used books store I saw this on the counter - a collection of illustration prints from Eric Loutte, who did, among other things, several covers of the Biggles book series my dad provided me with when I was a kid.  I only recognise one in this pack - but wow is this a gem.  There are illustrations done for other aeronautic publications here as well.

Summary:

 The Second World War has ended and I can't seem to shake it. It's there in my mind ever moment of the day, never fading away.

My second fanfiction in the Biggles fandom. This one follows Ginger as he struggles to cope in the aftermath of WWII. It is kind of linked to Never Ending War but can be read alone. :) Sometimes I get the feeling like I should write angst, this is what happens.

Summary:

The war has ended or to say more rightfully, it has officially ended. The war hasn't truly ended, it's still in our minds, plaguing every thought and movement so how can I settle back into peace?

Alright so Never Ending War is one of my two fanfictions written in the Biggles fandom. It concentrates on Biggles after WWI and how it is hard for him to transition into life after the war because honestly, there wasn't enough of it in the books.

My favourite Biggles book, Biggles Learns to Fly! This one just must be read. It depicts how Biggles got into flying and tells about his time at his first squadron, the one before 266 squadron were he becomes famous.

So maybe you guys don't know who Biggles is. I could sit here and give a beautiful long summary and it wouldn't properly sum him up. Instead I shall give you a beautiful short summary, my blog and a link to Biggles' wikipedia page. Maybe that will fill the gaps. Who knows?

Alright, here goes my summary. Biggles is short for James Bigglesworth. Biggles is a fictional character who spans more than 98 books. The series is written by Captain W.E. Johns, a WWI fighter pilot. Biggles begins when James Bigglesworth joins the Royal Flying Corps in WWI. He starts out in two seater fighter aircraft before moving to Sopwith Camels. His cousin, Algy (Algernon Lacey) soon joins him on the front along with various other characters including Mahoney and McLaren. After WWI Biggles has numerous flying adventures with his newest protege Ginger Hebblethwaite. When WWII comes around the friends are joined by Bertie Lissie as their adventures continue. 

Honestly I can't do Biggles justice and neither can the movie. Please, just read the books. At QBD in Australia you can buy an omnibus for five dollars if you get it on sale. :D Read it and haunt the second hand book stores for more.

A beautiful cover for Biggles of 266. Such a great book with various short stories inside it. A definite must read. Admittedly though, it isn't my all time favourite book. My all time favourite? Biggles Learns to Fly.
