"Trans women get all the visibility" but it's 16,913 newspaper articles in the UK mainly demonising trans women, while some trans men have enough institutional power to get on a stage and spout utter bullshit about trans women that is not historically or factually correct.

And of course trans men have it hard right now, any kind of trans person has it hard in the UK right now. But this is yet another example of the differences in structural power between trans men and trans women, and a good example of how a trans men can oppress trans women

npr ran a story this morning on air about the recent supreme court ruling in favor of trans youth sports bans, a ruling that specifies trans girls in particular and allows even public schools in red states to do whatever kind of exclusionary policy they want. and for this story they interviewed two people: a teenage trans boy in massachusetts who participates in tons of school sports, and an activist trans man in nyc who runs a nonprofit for trans youth. I'm not saying that either of these people have absolutely nothing pertinent to say about trans youth issues, but the teenager from MA mostly spoke about how lucky *he* is to participate in sports and the activist from NYC spent the entire interview plugging the book he wrote while barely answering a single question. The activist guy mentioned that he actually has spoken to the west virginian trans girl who was part of the case, but only to say how proud/sad he is to watch her become an activist "just like him".

not to be a critic, but its crazy to me that they could not speak either TO or ABOUT the people affected by this ruling (trans girls in conservative areas) at all. a combination of transmisogyny and shitty reporting means that the takeaway from that segment seemed to be "well, it sucks, but at least blue states are still allowed to be accepting of trans youth" rather than the very real attempts to eradicate trans people from public life or the very real possibility of violent retaliation against trans girls in these states.

during the activist's interview, the radio host asked him if he could quickly dispel some of the myths around trans youth in sports somehow being unfair to cis youth, and his response was to awkwardly shrug off the question and say that the answer is simply too "complicated and nuanced" to give a short soundbite on air about. are you fucking kidding me? live on WNYC with about 1 million weekly listeners, and you can't just say with your whole chest that trans girls belong in girls sports because they are girls too? come on

Pope Leo is letting American bishops entirely ban trans healthcare for both minors and adults in all Catholic-owned hospitals and clinics, and stop coverage for trans healthcare through Catholic-affiliated health insurance plans!!

People are having surgeries, for which they were on waitlists for years, suddenly cancelled. Hormones no longer covered, their clinicians no longer able to prescribe them. Considering in some states Catholic-owned healthcare organizations make up to a third of the market, as it were, this is a HUGE issue.

Missing hormones. Canceled surgeries. Bureaucratic denials. Late last year the Catholic Church banned all trans healthcare across its sprawl

This has been happening since November of last year, when this vote took place, but no one is talking about it. The rehabilitation of the image of the papacy through Pope Leo is killing me, it’s still the goddamn Catholic Church. You do not gotta hand it to them.

Trans women are constantly subjected to a "catch-22" in regards to our genitals. On the one hand we're subjected to a decades-long campaign of transmisogynistic medicalism that requires trans women to want vaginoplasty and to seek it. But then on the other hand we are subjected at the same time to gatekeeping and fetishization that blocks trans women from being able to get vaginoplasty. And that same culture also regards us as "mutilated freaks" that have "permenantly ruined" our bodies when we are able to get vaginoplasty. We're damned if we do and damned if we don't, and that is by design. There is no version of a trans woman's body that is acceptable to cisnormative society.

So it is absolutely monstrous that there is such a pervasive attitude which paints trans women who have had vaginoplasty as "not real trans women" — even and especially among trans women ourselves!

Like, every fucking day on this hellsite I'll watch y'all do things like get angry at an artist for depicting a trans woman character as having a vagina. Once I had a date walk out on me the moment she learned I'd had vaginoplasty, and she was a trans woman! I've even had a lot of trans women insist that those of us who've had vaginoplasty have cissexual privilege now!

Like, how do y'all not see that this is just transmisogyny of the exact same caliber that reinforces the fetishization of us? This is the same shit that is used to justify the medical gatekeeping we are all subjected to!

Some trans women have vaginas, some trans women have penises, and plenty of other trans women have every variation in between. Fucking fix your hearts and live with it, or die!

im an intersex trans women with ambiguous genitals and i feel this to a ridiculous degree. everytime i take off my pants I'm worried about what kinds of comments I'll get, whether I'm being judged, the disappointment in realizing i won't be able to penetrate. like with other trans women it often just kinda sucks because im randomly sidelined and treated as if i don't understand something when i do, i understand my own genitalia better than anyone despite the ways people try to label it. people say "it's just like this!" and treat it like that even though that's uncomfortable or even painful for me. all this shit going on since i was born is why i have such crazy genital dysphoria, i want to get salmacian surgery so i dont wanna become completely normal but i want my genitals to be easily distinguishable so it'll be easier for people to understand what ive got going on. the people who treated my genitals best, who was good at handling it, who loved them exactly for how they were, was a cis woman. i miss her all the time. other trans women will be just so damn mean to me about it sometimes.

Canonically transgender character has some interesting comments about this. Comments that echo Jax's mysterious comments about Zooble from earlier.

Now, I'm not always the best at this, but the only connection I can think of between Zooble, bartenders, and tattoo artists, is that they're all..........kind of dykey? It's giving "two toxic homosexuals interact at atarbucks." But that might just be me.

He's not the pinnacle of masculinity, and he knows he's not, so he jokes about it-- because it's funny! It's funny that he's not a "real man!"

Being funny-- that's a type of guy you can be, even if everything about being a man doesn't appeal to you!

It's a role! A role he can fulfill! His role that he's stuck with, that he's given up on fighting. The funny one. Nothing else underneath the funny egshell, thank you very much!

There's just no use even thinking about changing who he is. That would just be depressing! And it's no good to anyone if the funny one can't be funny. If he can't fulfill his role. If he ever wants anything else, anything more genuine.

Jax already lost a friend once when he was too open about how he really felt, too obvious about who he really is-- and he clearly won't EVER let that happen again!

HOWEVER however, Goose has stated in a LOT of asks how she projects onto Jax and has stated she relates to him the most. This can easily include any struggles she's had/having with her gender identity.
