Surprisingly good fun. Dark, dirty and very witty at points. I like the way they make the Christian church out to be so evil - how refreshing. Would certainly watch more if they made another series.

I was warned this was a mess, and it was, but I watched it anyway.

Great film making - gripping characters. But same critique as series 1 - compared to Breaking Bad, I wish this would have more grit and tense, life-threatening drama.
Film Diary/617
So much to like in this film. Really, this is a exercise in exploring human emotion in silence.
Film Diary/616
I thought the bold, gripping opening scene in the doctor’s office set the tone for what was a very smart example of classy low-budget film making.

This is US social realism film making out of the top drawer - it’s obviously a great piece of work - the children’s performances alone are a huge accomplishment. However, the film left me feeling deeply depressed. And the older I get, the less I like that.

Beautifully crafted movie, full of top performances.

I watched this in the same week as Mudbound, which weirdly have many aesthetic similarities.
Film Diary/612
My kind of sci-fi film. Dark and smart yet not afraid to be wild.
Film Diary/611
A fun addition to the Marvel universe. I especially enjoyed the depictions of an alternative afro-future in Wakanda.
Film Diary/610
Another excellent output from the producers of Breaking Bad, as you would expect.
Film Diary/609
The show that just keeps giving!
Film Diary/608
Paul T Anderson and Daniel D Lewis are a damn strong combination.
Film Diary/607
Loved it.
Film Diary/606
Brilliant, contained, arty thriller.
Film Diary/605
I’m a huge fan of Alexander Payne - he’s one of the best and most thought provoking indie comedy filmmakers out there. However, this felt like a departure from his usually bold, smart work.
Film Diary/604
Just a brilliant movie.
