I knew a boy once. He used to ride around the city on his Harley looking for rooftops on stormy nights to hunt down lightning with a camera. He would trap them on film. He had canisters filled with lightning bolts. One night we watched a movie reflected on a white sheet in his living room. The door to the balcony was open. It was an overcast night. When the film ended, we left the house together, him on his bike, me in my car. He rode into the night. I never saw him again. But every time I see a lightning strike, I imagine him on a rooftop, catching and trapping the bolt onto film with his camera.
