Short Drama Evaluation
When filming my short drama “I, Divided”, we had a few technical issues and problems I would fix, if we were to do this project again in the near future.
Firstly, team work is a vital in production of filming, and I feel communication was not strong enough within members of our team. We were delayed filming on our first day by two hours due to circumstance, and misfortunate events. I believe with better communication, this could have been avoided, giving us a better end result.
Secondly, we did not have control over background noises when filming, such as people and wind. This was a major problem when filming our prologue (the office scene), as we were filming in a business office. Downstairs there were workers who has music playing to motivate them to work. Because of this, you can hear quite music playing in the background of our prologue, which brings the overall feel of the film down.
I feel that my film overall did reflect a drama that you might see on television, although it could still be improved a lot if I had the chance to start over. Despite my film having a lot of negative problems, it also had some good parts included as well.
Firstly, I think that my film had a very good story to it. I feel that it is a shame we didn’t get longer to do this project, as my group had the potential to make it more like a film than a short drama as we had produced a full length script of around 69 pages.
Secondly, I believe that the cinematography in our drama was to a professional standard, especially with the 50mm lens to give that depth of field and cinematic feel to our shots. I also like that the majority of our shots are not locked down on a tripod, as the movement keeps it more interesting to look at (for me personally, at least) compared to a still shot.
Due to the fact that our drama was originally planned to be a lot longer than what we had time to film, we did not get to use any shots that required visual effects editing. I feel that our drama could have been better, with some visual effects to enhance the professionalism of our short drama.
To make our drama more professional, we decided to hold auditions and get in actors from miskin media. This was to make our drama more convincing, as the actors will convey across the characters we want to portray in our drama.
We had one issue with our props, as we forgot to include some tablets in our prologue. Thankfully, we decided not to include our prologue in the final edit as I feel this would bring our final grade and overall edit to its full potential.
To conclude, I feel that our drama was to a professional standard, and if we were given the chance to do this project again, I would ensure that we did this with minimal background noise and possibly do an audio test when selecting locations to see if we need to change location.
