(12/22/20) i lost my job at the start of covid. my mother and i are homeless and living out of our car, which has multiple problems and which can not run, our area has had 10 inches of snow. we experienced identity fraud pre-covid, draining our little savings leading to loss of residence and all possessions that could not fit in the car.
i don’t like to add this but i happen to be nonbinary trans, by necesity closeted/low radar rn. we are in a conservative area outside the city. not easy. there are few resources or orgs here for people in need and we have tried reaching out to as many places as we could find. most are underfunded and can do little. we are attempting to seek help with our car from these, but it’s up in the air.
we are both immunocompromised, she is a chemo patient, and i have respiratory problems and undiagnosed (yet) autoimmune issue, possibly thyroid. our area has many covid cases and is beginning to shut down again. we are nonetheless both seeking online work - no results yet - as we still have our mobile devices from pre-homelessness and use what public wifi hotspots are immediately nearby. we have applied for section 8 housing, food stamps, and transportation, none of which has come through yet.
some of our biggest present needs are: we are almost out of food. we need transportation to doctors’ appointments (we’re both on medicaid).
i fell and broke my arm 11/24/20. the emergency room put on a temporary sling and due to lack of transport i cannot make it to a doctor’s appt yet.
