Hope From a Broken Heart

Hey guys! So I've been away for a little while but that's mainly because I've not only relocated to another country but I've just ended yet another relationship. Yeah I know it sucks but at the same time I was able to write something down which I hope will bless and encourage you. I wrote this about a week after my breakup a little while after seeing a picture on Instagram that said "Dating tip: Run as fast as you can to God and if someone keeps up, introduce yourself", and I felt like it helped me to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Sooooo I just broke up with yet another boyfriend and I'm surprised because I thought he would be you.... I'm steady thinking all this pain cannot be worth it. However there is this hope that everything will be ok. That this heartache is necessary for me to finally meet you and love you the way you deserve. I'm learning different things and trying to better myself with God's help so that when we finally meet I will be the woman God intended me to be... Your wife. At this moment in time I'm holding on to God and making sure that I'm hidden in him so that when the time comes you will find me doing the Father's will. We haven't met yet but I love you still... Until then xxx God loves you, I love you and there ain't nothing you can do about it ;-) D

Obedience is not as painful as you might think it is...

I've been reading this daily devotional by Rick Warren which is really cool. There is a part of if that resonates with me really well. It's about Obedience. I've always been told that you have to obey your elders, you have to obey or you won't get what you want. However I've recently realised that obedience isn't about being a slave but about a response of love. I'm not gonna say too much because what he says here speaks volumes. Please read and be blessed 'Biblical Obedience: Love + Trust + Action Today, the word obey has a negative connotation. We view obedience as a forced, unwilling decision to do something we don't want to do because we're afraid of punishment. But that's not the kind of obedience that's in God's Word. Obedience in the Bible means this: love + trust + action. It starts with love, as Jesus said in John 14:15, "If you love me, you will obey what I command." (NIV) Obedience comes from knowing that God loves you and you love him in return. A lot of people think obedience is about fearing God, but God wants us to see obedience to him as a relationship of love. And out of love comes trust. If you trust what God is saying to you, and you believe that he loves you, then that will lead to action. You need to have all three because action without love is just rote religion. And love without action is just mere talk.' I hope you were blessed by this and will look at obedience in a different light. God loves you, I love you and there ain’t nothing you can do about it ;-)

That’s probably not the first thing you were expecting to read when you bashfully looked over both shoulders and clicked on this link, but it’s true. Why then would I write an article with a headline that implies otherwise? Because I’m waiting...

You have a choice...

I recently met a friend a few months ago and getting to know them has been such a great experience and hopefully we’ll be in each other’s lives for a long time (God willing). The nature of what they do requires an extreme amount of long hours, a hard and constant graft and I totally commend them for how much work they put in. Recently they had the opportunity to be shown recognition on a significant scale… But unfortunately they were not recognised for their hard work and dedication… They took this pretty hard and it started to affect them in subtle ways, even to the point that it reflected in our conversations. Now when something starts to affect the way you talk, something ain’t right!

Does the above sound familiar to you? Yep, if you are a living human being put on this earth by God Almighty there will be times in your life where you think “It was supposed to be my time…” In actual fact I went through something like this earlier this year which ended in me being rejected for something I thought I deserved and was ready to handle (I won’t go into detail cos I’ll be here all night…), but the outcome resulted in me not believing in myself, doubting my God given talent, losing my self confidence and just generally thinking “What’s the point?” I was close to the end of my rope when I finally reached out to God about how disappointed and let down I was about what had happened. I questioned him saying ” I put all that work into it, you knew that’s how things would end up and yet you still allowed me to go through this. Why?”

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ NIV). This is one of my favourite bible passages and after reading "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren this passage made total sense and it was reinforced into my mind the way things can sometimes work with God… The passage says he makes ALL things work for our good. So all the disappointment, heartache, discouragement etc may be painful and hard to bear at the time but have you not come out the other end a stronger person? Did you not stop to think that maybe God was actually protecting you from further heartache and disappoint down the road? It’s like a muscle. If you don’t use it you lose it. For example if you don’t walk for a few days the muscles in your legs start to weaken and you can’t use them any more, but if you walk around everyday your muscles get stronger and stronger. The point I’m trying to make in the end is this: you have a choice… When life throws you a curve in any aspect of your life be it work or relationship (because yes you’ve guessed it relationships that you thought were perfect can end in disaster), you can decide to wallow in the heartache, discouragement and disappointment, ask “Why me?” constantly and not progress as person OR you can make the decision to learn from the experience and use it and get stronger. The choice is yours. God never puts more on us than we can bear and if God knows the plan for your life he certainly needs you to be strong enough to handle it. So take your trials as training for the road ahead.

God loves you, I love you and there ain’t nothing you can do about it ;-) D
