Don't mind her, she's just gonna sneak up on the blond and drop a flower crown on his head.
Heâd been too wrapped up in the books he was pouring over to notice her creeping up on him-- Brandy had often said that he was the most oblivious chimera sheâd ever met. He preferred the term ââfocusedââ.
âIs this for me?â Itâs a sweet gesture, and itâs nice to see her finally coming out of her shell a little.Â

Like Albuca namaquensis, A. concordiana has spiraling leaves, but these are bluer and the plant is much smaller. It is another of the winter-rainfall species in Albuca, but it has not always been placed in this genus. For a while, it was classified as a species of Ornithogalum, which is closely related. In Albuca, the 3 outer tepals (this term is used when the distinction between petals and sepals is not clear-cut) usually spread widely, while the inner 3 are cupped, while in Ornithogalum all of the petals are spreading. Going by this, A. concordiana would be sensibly placed in Ornithogalum. But in other respects it fits very well within Albuca, and present thinking places it there. It is a delightful miniature.

Flower of the Week #35 - Epilobium cana (by flora-file)
aka Zauschneria californica or California fuschia. By the end of summer in California everything is brittle and brown and ready to erupt into flames. This native perennial flower lights up the brown landscape with its blazing orange profusion. I grew these from wild collected seed.

âWell, I canât say this has been a dull day, at least.â
Hey, the less fighting and glaring she gets around here, the better. Not that sheâs⊠doing a good job of seeming non-threatening with her weapon always on her. But details.
Well, so far sheâs doing a pretty good job. Heâs also oblivious as hell with no sense of self preservation; so thatâs working in her favor too.Â
âExactly. Plants make everything better.â Take that, Brandy.
âOh my! What kinds are these? Lilacs?âÂ
So thatâs how theyâre here, alchemy. Fascinating!
âYeah, and some azaleas, too.âÂ
Itâs the dead of winter, and they need a little color around here. Thank goodness for green houses and alchemy.Â
