Late night dinner date

Having taken Riley’s words to heart, Gabriel began to worry that there was a strong possibility that he was so wrapped up in work that he was forgetting to spend proper time with Jesse. It was terrifying, really, to think that there was a chance Jesse was feeling neglected and even if it wasn’t true, Gabe felt horrible about it deep in his gut. It was why he had went out to town earlier in the day, picking up ingredients he needed to make dinner for the other boy. At home dinner was something they usually at least finished together but Gabe took it upon himself to do it alone to surprise the other.

So he had busied himself with cooking spaghetti, preparing a salad as well as bread to help finish off the meal and have iced some wine for the two of them as soon as he got back. He had then set up a picnic blanket outside on the lawn, trying to make everything perfect for his boyfriend before he called him. “Jeeeeeeeeeesssse, hi darling. I did something embarrasing and didn’t know who to call. I slipped outside and I think I messed up my back. Could you come help me please? Im out front.” He figured it would be enough to get the boy down.

It had been a long, tiring day for Jesse. The government piled work on top of work every couple of hours, and if it weren’t for Megan constantly convincing him to stay on task, he would’ve lost his marbles by the end of the day. It just felt so much better coming home and hanging up his lab coat on the rack by the door, slipping off his shoes and shoving them into the cubbies they kept in the front hall. “Gabriel?” He called out, a bit confused as to why the house felt so empty and silent, but within seconds he heard the familiar voice that belonged to his beloved. Panic rushed through him, was he hurt? Jesse ran towards the back door, following the trail of Gabe’s voice, and stepped out onto the garden expecting to see the worst case scenario but was only greeted by his dorky boyfriend who had gone out of his way to set up a picnic.

“Gabe -- Oh, you shouldn’t have! I thought you were hurt,” He tried to really falter his smile and pretend to be angery but he just couldn’t help it, the surprise made him grin like a mad-man. Striding over, he reached the boy and brought him into an embrace, placing a gentle kiss against his forehead, his heart swelling with affection. There was just something about him, something he never felt for anyone, that really made the emotions in him reel. “You are absolutely perfect.” His hands slid to Gabe’s cheeks as he held his head, thumbs lightly swiping against his skin, smiling widely, “Best thing to come home to.”

“You don’t want this,” He laughed, eerily, his eyes rather wide and frantic as if he hadn’t slept in days. “You don’t want any of this.” Getting up, he walked over to Paige and grabbed her, his one arm wrapping around his shoulders. “Imagine, picture this, standing there and watching innocent people die--BLOWN UP, before you... Because you were the intended kill. Imagine watching your friends manipulated and chopped up right before your eyes, or be the one manipulating and chopping them up... You don’t want this. How dare you.”
