Have you ever sat and wondered about how bisexuals and "pansexuals" are actually mocking gay people? "Being accused of being straight isn't privilege it's erasure". "I'll call myself gay all i want if you keep calling it gay marriage" what do they think the gay movement is about? parties? parades? We're killed for being with our partners, you bisexual who is partnered with the opposite sex 90% of the time are not. Throwing a tantrum over not being oppressed IS a privilege.

Of course they would mock us; they really do hate us. They hide behind a whole bunch of names to excuse their homophobia, but nothing that they say ever makes sense, so you start seeing all the inconsistencies when you look at things closely:

“I am bisexual/”pansexual”, so I get the right to call myself gay. Don’t dare to call me heterosexual, though, not ever!”

vs.

“I am bisexual/”pansexual” and you need to understand that there is a difference between being gay and being bisexual/”pansexual”!”

“Why are you talking about gay rights and the gay community? You are being exclusionary! Include us or else!”

vs.

“Bisexuals/”pansexual” have the right to their own spaces and their own discussions!”

“Why are you talking about gay marriage? Are you aware of how exclusionary that language is?”

*cohabits with same-sex partners at a truly incredible rate of 3%, compared to over 35% of partnered gay people*

“The oppression and exclusion from gay people is what is keeping us from same-sex relationships!”

*just accidentally admitted that the overwhelming majority of bisexuals/”pansexuals” are unwilling to partner with the same sex and simply seek average heterosexual lives, something that is simply not available for gay people*.

I have personally witnessed each and every single one of these.

We have the right to say no, when their activism revolves around silencing us, harassing us, taking away our language, portraying us as an oppressor class. We are not gonna stay silent.

I don’t know why gay people telling bi people to “choose a side” is seen as a bad thing. Everyone knows that most bi activists pose as the ‘most oppressed’ but very conveniently disappear when it comes to stand up for issues that affect gay people.

We didn’t make gay “the new face” of anything. We have fought for our dignities as a gay community against the injustices that are specifically directed at us (HOMOphobia). YES, SAME-SEX MARRIAGE IS IMPORTANT. BUT I WANT STRAIGHT ALLIES TO TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION AS WELL.

• It is still legal in 29 states to fire someone for being gay/bisexual/pansexual/not straight.

• It is still legal in 32 states to fire someone for being trans.

• It is legal in 29 states to evict someone for being queer.

• It is still purposefully difficult for same-sex couples to adopt children.

• Bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, asexual, and demisexual people exist.

• So, you know. It’s not “gay” marriage that was legalized. It’s same-sex marriage that was legalized.

• Queer people (especially minors) are still getting beaten to death and kicked out of their homes.

• Being queer is still illegal in 79 countries.

• Being queer is still punishable by DEATH in 5 countries.

• The fight is far from over.

An incredibly important figure in the LGBT community, who paved the way for Pride and LGBT activism as we know it today

“Het”-partnered bisexuals don’t just belong at Pride, they were integral to its creation.

(Bonus facts: Brenda was also Jewish, a sex worker, and an outspoken feminist. I highly recommend learning about her because she was seriously an amazing woman.)

Modern-day Pride was envisioned, created and supported by Fred Sargeant, Craig Rodwell, Linda Rhodes and Ellen Broidy. Modern-day Pride was created by two lesbian women and two gay men.

I feel you, there’s a part of the LGBTQIA+ community that is just as gross as the straight bigots out there. The difference is that we expect hate from heterosexual people, but seeing that coming from inside what’s supposed to be a safe space? That fucking hurts.

There’s no het-passing. What exists is being afraid, is erasure, is being on the closet. If I’m in a relationship with a man, I’m bi, if I’m in a relationship with a woman I am bi, if I’m in a relationship with some other gender I am still bisexual.

My sexuality isn’t a step, it isn’t a phase, it isn’t confusion, it isn’t greed, it isn’t a a dial that goes from “straight <-> gay”. My sexuality doesn’t change with the gender of my partner. I am bisexual. Period.

I hate it, I hate that bisexuality is often forgotten, erased, demeaned or conditioned to be accepted. I’m bi and I’m proud, and those biphobic trashbags can fucking go lick a lamp post for all I care.
