kids are being brought up with everyone around them like “books? are you serious? who the hell READS lol” and “why do i need to learn another language if i already know english” and “math is dumb i’ll never need this in the real world :)))” and then you wonder why they aren’t academically motivated when by the time everyone else has gotten their shit together they’ve finally become who they thought they should have been all along

fyi: i’m officially moving away from this page, i stopped posting a few months ago but here’s an official announcement of the move. i’m not sure whether or not i want to keep this tumblr for a record (mostly of junior year), so i’ll keep it up for now. i haven’t been on tumblr at all the past months and there’s been way too much to do but my new one’s url is maximillien - follow me there and i might post sometimes, not sure when i’ll really get back into it, maybe when things are less stressful.

I’m really tired of only seeing posts for trauma survivors who have managed to stay kind. not all of us can. not all of us can do that and still cope.
shoutout to my fellow trauma survivors who expect the worst, who are unfriendly, who have learned not to be vulnerable because people have used vulnerability to hurt you, who are quick to bare teeth, who are jaded and exhausted, who learned to compartmentalize and shut to things away and not feel, who are called bitter and disappoint people who expect us to be model survivors.
we are no less valuable or human than anyone else.
some days I’m like wow I love life and can’t wait to live it up each day with cool people and other days I’m like what am I doing alive how did I survive this long?!

A lot of people ask me what my biggest fear is, or what scares me most. And I know they expect an answer like heights, or closed spaces, or people dressed like animals, but how do I tell them that when I was 17 I took a class called Relationships For Life and I learned that most people fall out of love for the same reasons they fell in it. That their lover’s once endearing stubbornness has now become refusal to compromise and their one track mind is now immaturity and their bad habits that you once adored is now money down the drain. Their spontaneity becomes reckless and irresponsible and their feet up on your dash is no longer sexy, just another distraction in your busy life. Nothing saddens and scares me like the thought that I can become ugly to someone who once thought all the stars were in my eyes.

the world only begins and ends with straight white christians if you don’t bother looking any farther than that and too many people don’t and i am tired, tired, tired
