Sandra Øverdal – A Moment Where Time Stands Still from Bjørn Christiansen on Vimeo.
Filmed at Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder in Trondheim, this short documentary presents artist Sandra Øverdal’s thoughts on painting as both a sanctuary and a way to capture fleeting moments. She reflects on how art became a form of therapy, offering an escape from chronic migraines and an overwhelming stream of thoughts. Over time, painting evolved into something more—a way to express emotions that words cannot fully capture. Sandra’s work explores the power of color, texture, and brushstrokes to freeze moments in time, preserving feelings and memories that might otherwise fade. Her goal is for viewers to recognize something familiar in her paintings, to connect with their own experiences, and to feel something real.
The film was shot using the Nikon Z8 with a 50mm f/1.4G lens and a Sirui 1.25x anamorphic adapter for a cinematic look. Close-up details were captured with a macro filter, while movement was enhanced with the Ifootage Sharkslider and Mini-Jib. Audio was recorded with the DJI Mic Mini 2, and focus precision was achieved using the DJI Focus Pro. Monitoring and recording were handled by the Atomos Ninja V.
Through this intimate portrayal, Sandra shares her belief that art is more than what we see. It is what we feel. And for her, it is a moment where time stands still.
