Just finished this piece I started forever ago and finally got around to finishing it, This is an OC of mine named Lynessa Bryant. She is half human, half puma shifter.

Painted these back in 2015, only two things I ever used Photoshop for, back before I discovered SAI.

I just colored in Photoshop and didn't draw the line art, that credit goes to Mashima Hiro.

So I was doing some practice sketches for different action drawing prompts and well didn’t stop after the sketch. This is the end result. I had a lot of fun working on the wings and hair! Prompt: Falling

Just a few sneak peak WIPs I’ve been working on, so look forward to them :)

1st- I’ve been seeing a lot of meet the artist lately and so I’ve decided to do one, though it’ll probably be a bit before I finish it.

2nd- Been practicing some realistic style painting on and off again don’t know when I’ll ever like it enough to call it done though.

3rd- Was requested (several months ago) to draw an OC for someone when I had the time and I have finally started it, maybe halfway done or so.

things i did that forced me to be a better artist:

used a reference for everything

thinner line art (you think thats thin? go thinner….)

sketch, then do a cleaner sketch, THEN start finalizing

THUMBNAILS

color research, picking a set palette or light/dark for each work

you like that pose? redo it one more time

USE A DAMN REFERENCE

do not rely on stylization as an excuse for anatomy

draw the goddamn background you coward

just draw the hand- a bad hand is better than a hidden hand

the rule of thirds WORKS

take a considerable break between sketch and lines/paint

know that art takes longer as you get better at it

draw the seams on clothes

stop aiming for accuracy and focus on fluidity and motion, accuracy will come with practice of those two concepts

just…do the chiaroscuro. just DO IT. no excuses it always works

stop making excuses, make yourself an art schedule/set weekly(or daily) art goals and just DO IT.

I finally decided on the background for my Akatsuki Sensei picture. I’m not 100% satisfied with it, but it’s better than anything I was coming up with before my break.
