When I first joined the hobby I saw nothing wrong with recasts, then even purchased a few. But through the years as I became an artist myself I realized I wouldn't want my work stolen and resold either. It wasn't due to the the people constantly saying how bad it was to own them, but due to my own realization.
The lack of originality amongst many BJD owners is equal parts sad and laughable.
My friend recently bought her first bjd, but even after warning her about recasts she still bought one :/
LMAO this place is a trip. "Don't buy Recasts, They're Bad!" *someone suggests that supporting predatory large doll companies isn't a great idea* "Who are you to tell people what to do with their money?!" Like I'm legit 4 lyfe and all but you sound a mess.
I accidentally bought a recast from luo. At the time, I thought it was going to be a legit doll i was getting- and the only doll i ever plan on getting. Well. I'm going to just pretend she is and not reccomend that seller. Im glad i used like 20 coupons to afford her, bc he got a lot less money than he would otherwise.
I bought a Pidgin Doll because I like the aesthetics of the doll. But, after knowing Pidgin Doll’s history, I feel like I can’t share photos or details of my new doll without feeling like someone will yell at me for supporting recasts or the like.
After reading (and experiencing) terrible second-hand BJD sales, I feel obligated to keep a doll that I want to sell. I want to avoid getting scrutinized and yelled at because I didn’t do x, y, and/or z thing.
I paid a commission to a famous Insta shop (I will censore the name) months ago. She is constantly updating new stuff for sale but still no words about my order. I don't want to open a PayPal case but I'm tired to wait for it...

Danny Choo is at it again. My favourite smartdoll owner on instagram has been blacklisted for being in a group. The admin of this group stupidly changed the banner to Danny in a Nazi pose (what an idiot) and she got blacklisted for being in that group (she didnt see the banner and had nothing to do with it). Imagine being accused of being a Nazi. How awful. Danny is now making fun of this girl and calling her a liar with no evidence to prove she had anything to do with it .
To any bjd artists reading this, i hope you know that even through all this negativity, recasting, and other problems that could deter you from doing what you love, there will always be people who love and support you, as an artist, and as a person.
the negativity radiating off of these posts is sickening. Yes, they are the few positive posts, but other than that, it's all negative. Unless you are talking about a confirmed scammer, there's no need for it. Dissing artists, wait times, people in general, it's wrong. Did anyone teach the people here manners as a child? Because you don't act like it. I get it long wait times are annoying, and some artists dolls may not look nice to you, but think about what you may be doing to someones emotions
my family makes fun of me for liking dolls as a 19 y/o boy. it makes me really upset because i adore the artistry of bjds, i see them more as sculptures and pieces of artwork, but they only see it as “overpriced toys”

Saw this in the notes on a confession "Volks is a multimillion company that doesn't suffer from recasts" The same recasters you purchased your Volks recast from are also recasting small companies and artists like Lillicat. They DO suffer from recasts. It doesn't stop at big companies/defunct companies/discontinued sculpts (and even then it'd be theft)
