Taking pictures of Brooklyn, NYC and whenever I travel out of the city. This is sort of a dairy of my travels, tastes and things I see. Going to unique places you may not have known about and turning places you may have overlooked into unique experiences.

It’s 🥶🥶🥶 outside but if you thinking about going out anyway, then here are some ideas. ✳️ Around 3:00pm, head out for a Christmas lights tour, grab some hot cocoa, or hit up a donut shop like @brandons.donuts or @doughnutplant for some Christmas shaped treats, then head toward Bay Ridge by coming down 3rd Ave. Make a right on 86th street and then another right on Colonial. Exploring Dyker Heights and Bay Ridge (swipe to the left for more) Most people know about the Dyker Heights Lights, but what many may not know about is a location I like to call Bay Ridge Christmas. Christmas Weekend! Things to do and see list: Not much going on event wise, but you can easily make your own event or traditions 🧠 IDEAS - walk around DUMBO ✳️ The Christmas lights are up and it can be a pretty chill place to walk around. The borders are Old Fulton street to Front street to Washington street to Plymouth street, then main street to Water street, then back to Old Fulton street. Plenty to see and do there. Grab a coat because it will be chilly at the waterfront! — chill at @industrycity ✳️ from ice skating rink, to indoor spaces, to fire pits, drinks, heated outdoor places, live bands including jazz and salsa, and so forth, it’s a great place to explore over the holiday weekend. Parking is available, but limited. The B35 and B37 buses are close by (B37 directly passes it) or take the D,N,or R trains to 36th street station and walk over to 3rd Ave and 36th street. - walk around Bay Ridge ✳️ Dyker Heights isn’t the only place to get wow’ed by lights! Colonial Rd between 79th street and 86th street might have some treats. You might catch some Christmas carolers on Christmas Eve (you never know). As you stroll down Colonial Street, be sure to look up and down the cross streets. You might see something special. — ride the B37 bus ✳️ starts on 4th ave and Pacific street and, after Bergen street, goes straight down 3rd ave. The Gingerbread House (at least that’s what I call it) This can be found at Dyker Heights just by walking around. A sort of hard to find park but cool spot nonetheless. In the fall, this place is just full of color. There was a point where you could walk out onto the land pier, but it’s currently under repair. Blue hour near the Verrazano Bridge on the Brooklyn side. I had basically just missed the 2 cruise liner ships that passed under it. I forget the names but one was from Norwegian and the other I forget. Both huge but the Norwegian one was the largest. It really looks like it won’t fit under the bridge lol 🧠 Just an idea: on any given Sunday, after 5PM on Bay Ridge Promenade you may catch a cruise liner or 2 passing by. Accessible by foot, bike, and car. Just find it cool to watch. Next year, I might really consider riding a ski-doo on the East River 🤔 Yeah, THAT East River lol The one that can have a very distinct odor 😂 but I’ll say this, it’s WAY better now than it was 20 or even 10 years ago. Whatever ocean clean up they doing, it’s working. 🧠🧠 IDEA: There are businesses that have 1 hour and 2 hour tours and rentals for use for ski-doo and other water crafts. Would have never known until I saw an ENTIRE FAMILY out on the water this summer. On another outing I saw what looked like a large group just having fun. So yes, this could be you and your family. Can’t figure out where to go this afternoon at sunset? Maybe try Bush Terminal Park. Explore. You might even watch a game or 2 at the fields. Maybe see a duck (although I think they left already). It’s off the beaten path for sure. Not easy to get to. But if you go, it’s nice. SIDE NOTE: Remember to live in the moment. Not everything has to be captured on your phone. Take the shots, capture the vids, but don’t forget to take the time to just soak in the nature. Listen to the water hit the shore. Watch the sunset. I’m not even into coffee that much but the coffee here tastes pretty good! ☕️ Meant to post about this place a while ago, so I will post on it again soon, but just wanted to say something now about it now. If you LOVE coffee, you will like this place. When I was there last time it has a number of coffee options but at the same time it was simple an straight forward. It’s down near the waterfront on Old Fulton Street. The idea is to explore but to stay in the city while doing it. It could be as free as walking and exploring Halloween lights to paying to watch a show at @bam_brooklyn or eat and watch a classic movie at @nitehawkcinema or maybe grab some hot sauce at @heatonist and walk to the waterfront at Bushwick Inlet Park. 🧠 Take a walk at @brooklynbridgepark or @dominopark and then hit @nycferry for a sunset water trip. Ferry rides are $4 per person one way. 🧠🧠 Wild idea: Cruise ship watching. You can watch those HUGE ships go under the Verrazano Bridge. Or grab a key lime pie at @stevesauthentic and go to Louis Valentino Park and watch a cruise ship leave from #brooklyncruiseterminal (usually the Queen Mary 2 but other ships leave from@there too) ✳️ Nothing wrong with a road trip too! @howecavernsadventurepark upstate NY might be a treat but if your claustrophobic just don’t go on the tour. Take the local road up for the best scenery 9W between Bear Mountain and Highland is a good look (might have missed the fall foliage if you go now) @stormkingartcenter might be worth a road trip too It’s def cool to jump out a plane, or scuba dive in the Bahamas, but what you doing in between those trips? 🤔 ✳️ Life is more than just going to work and sleeping. Leaves are almost at peak change in Brooklyn. Good time to see it from above it all. Manhattan Bridge during sunset has a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan skyline and fall foliage. Just sayin 🤷🏾‍♂️ 🧠 Check when sunset is and get to the entrance of the pedestrian walkway for the bridge about 30mins before (15mins if you want to cut it close) and take a slow walk across the bridge. Brooklyn side entrance is on Sand and Jay Streets. York street train station on the F line is the closest to the entrance. Happenings and Events to check out this weekend 😱 🎃 👀 @industrycity has a host of things going on. Good place to create some memories. — Friday Oct 28th: Frying Pan Halloween Bash from 3pm to 10 Price: FREE ✳️ 90’s theme in case you wanna join in @downtownbrooklyn has a Halloween bash on Saturday in Albee Square next to Fulton Street mall. — Saturday Oct 30th: BKLYN BOO From 1pm to 4pm Price: FREE ✳️ They gonna teach you how to do the THRILLER DANCE from Micheal Jackson’s Thriller! Also there will be a DJ playing some Halloween hits, and a band. Just another Saturday to go see some stuff, or just go chill somewhere. 🍁 Harvest Festival at @brooklynbridgepark on Pier 6 — A parade, face painting, lawn games, coffee cider and pastries by Flux Coffee and Sweetly Brooklyn, a book giveaway, and other stuffs. For more check out Brooklyn Bridge Park website 🍕🍔 Only 2 more weekends for @smorgasburg so if your going to try new foods or just see what new, you have the Williamsburg location (Saturday) or the Prospect Park location (Sunday). Check the website for more 🏝️🍁 It’s fall on Governors Island and they got some things going on. This weekend and next they have something called Pumpkin Point 2022. Arts and crafts, performances, magic shows and other stuff. Plus you get to explore the island. Biking is welcome. Accessible by ferry @nycferry check the website for schedules.
