Maybe your idiot pastor down the street should have some electrical fencing installed and be preventive instead of just mindlessly killing things. You know. The smart, practical thing to do. In fact these instances with coyotes are instances that usually shouldn’t be taken into your own hand but have local wildlife officials take care of, but I don’t know what kind of permits you have or the laws of your area (not having electric fencing on a farm when it’s cheap and easy is just retarded and wasteful though)
You are allowed to have opinions. You are not allowed to argue with me with this kind of ignorance, city boy. If you call a wildlife official in rural Texas for coyotes he will take a few hours to get there. And when he does, your chickens are all dead and you cat has been mostly digested and vomited back up on your porch and your dog has its intestines scattered across two acres. The coyotes will be miles away sleeping off their latest meal. The wildlife agent will ask you if you have a rifle. He will then test it for function and look at you quizzicaly when it works. If he is patient he may even attempt to show you how to use it. He will be wondering why you are wasting his time with a coyote call when he has real work to do, like track illegal hunting and drug smuggling and illegal drug farming in his area. You have never ever dealt with coyotes, city boy, have never run a farm, and are talking with the arrogant ignorance of someone who never had to deal with any life or death situations. Coyotes, foxes, bobcats, mountain lions, wolves, civet cats, skunks, possums, and bears don’t give shit one about electrical fencing, except for lethal voltages. They dig under, climb small trees or bushes and jump over, and will flat out knock over fencing without any issues. Farmers cannot afford to run electrical wire along with barbed wire fencing when the coyotes and other animals will ignore both.
The thing is, people aren’t afraid of the guns. They’re afraid of the idiots with the guns that don’t have sense and aren’t balanced. The fears that people have are not unfounded and talking down to them to ‘just get counseling’ when someone who had been investigated more than once by the FBI was able to get one and massacre 50 people, isn’t really showing anyone that people not for banning these kind of weapons are good people who actually care about people’s concerns.
People are most specifically afraid of the weapons. It is a superstition of ignorant people and only stupid people defend superstitions. It is a superstition that is fed to them by media eager for viewers and clicks on web pages. People who know anything about crime, and about the thirteen thousand people who die every year from violent crime, know that rifles in toto are responsible for about four hundred deaths a year from violence, and a percentage of those are police standoff shootings and a percentage are also home defense and self defense shootings. And the rifles indicated in that picture are responsible for a much much smaller percentage of that 400. It is likely in a given year that the ten or twenty deaths of a mass shooting (if one occurs, they are rare and it takes a lot of number ‘fixing’ to make them seem anything LIKE common) are the ONLY deaths attributable to a ‘modern sporting rifle’. It is almost like the cowards that commit mass shootings pick weapons based upon scary appearance instead of function.
If people are afraid of shooters, they should be afraid of specific groups of people who are most likely to shoot them. If they live in the city, it will undoubtedly be a gang banger or a drug addict that shoots them. If they live in the country, it will most likely again be a drug addict, because the vast majority of killings occur between criminals fighting over drug turf in large cities, and most violence in the rural areas is also drug related.
If you knew anything about the subject, and specifically about the individual mass shooting you are talking about, there are specific circumstances that must be met for a mass shooting to be effective from the perspective of the coward initiating the event.
1. Almost certainly there must be a gun free zone for them to wreak havoc in. More than 92% of all mass shootings occur in gun free zones.
2. The shooter has already been brought to the attention of police at least once, and probably has a history of interactions with police. 29 out of 30 of the highest body count mass shooters were known to the police to have been accused or suspected of social crimes (peeping tom, vandalism, assault, rape, sexual assault) and mental issues.
3. Failure of police and mental health professionals to act on a long history of antisocial behavior and a list of precursor crimes.
4. Delays in police arrival, deployment, and effective tactics in stopping the mass shootings.
The coward in the Orlando shooting had more than THREE HOURS to kill whoever he wanted to. He could have used a LAWN FLAMINGO to kill fifty people in three hours.
It would be different if you were using numbers or statistics to support your weeping on the web. But you wail like a castrato about an example of Muslim terrorism where the perpetrator as you said was vetted by the FBI, and was in fact employed as a contractor by Homeland Security, and you want everyone in the US to have their rights taken away because you are afraid of a specific type of weapon.

The point is that the people doing the killing will do their killing regardless of your feels or any ‘feelgood’ laws you wail and cry about to get passed. The Boston assholes used a pressure cooker bomb. They got the instructions from an Al-Qaeda site on the internet. Does it make more sense to block the Al-Qaeda site or ban pressure cookers, genius?
The point is that you have proposed exactly zero laws or regulations changes that would have stopped any violent crime or any criminal. Put up or shut up, city boy.

And maybe not suck the NRA’s dick with their sources so much and I encourage people to do deeper research than them since they literally want laws that will make wildlife crime easier. I am (not) sorry your fee-fees got bent. You should really seek counseling for both the unreasoning fear you have (*that you are obviously very upset about*) and your obvious fear of mental health professionals that is evident in your worries about being told to seek counseling. There are pills for that.
People go to counseling every day. It is really not something you need to get so worked up over. Just admit your fears and go and have them dealt with.
