glaube feitosa’s question mark kick
How do you let people go? And leave the past behind?
I don’t think you let people go in one Mature moment tbh. You just stop feeding the version of them that lives in your head. Stop rehearsing what you’d say or treating every random song or street or shirt as evidence that the universe is still discussing them with you. Accept that some things were real and important and still cannot come with you. It always always sucks because we value holding on to others as a form of loyalty to ourselves... But yk eventually you have to admit that remembering something constantly is also a way of continuing to participate in it. You can’t value the loyalty more than you value your healing. Sometimes it is literally just over and your brain despises how undramatic that is. I think leaving it behind is mostly accepting that you will never get the version of it that finally makes perfect sense…They may never apologize correctly…and there’s also a very good chance you may never understand why you tolerated certain things or why they did what they did... But you kind of have to stop waiting for the past to become intelligent enough to explain itself to you. So I guess my answer is. You don’t (+ shouldn’t try to) leave it behind all at once. Your real goal should be to keep choosing the day you’re actually in until the old one doesn’t command so much of your attention
