hello everyone!

i want to share my new set of custom content with you. this time i created some interior for the dining room! this set includes 10 new objects. if you have any questions or suggestions please let me know. i really hope you enjoy these new objects and have fun decorating with them!

How to check for High Poly Meshes using S4S

Here’s a super quick tutorial on how to check the poly count on your shiny new custom content, be it CAS or BUY mode content.

You will need the Sims 4 Studio program, found here.

Open Sims 4 Studio and select the My Projects button.

Navigate to wherever the content you want to check is located and select a package file. What I like to do is sort everything by size and I will usually select a file that has a large size*. In this example pic, one file was pretty large so that’s the one I decided to open.

Once S4S opens up the package file, navigate to the Meshes Tab. In this tab, you’ll be able to see the vertices and polygon count of your object. As you can see, the object I selected ( it was a BUY mode object) is dangerously high poly! I have a pretty powerful computer, but I’d still be leery of using an object with a count this high. The creator I obtained this object from did not state this was a high poly object, so keep that in mind whenever you download any content- if the creator hasn’t advised of the count, be sure to check it yourself using this method.

So now that I know the count, I can decide to delete this object entirely from my game or use it sparingly, for like a picture edit or something. It definitely cannot be used for game-play or to decorate my Sims’ home.

I hope this tutorial helps you in deciding what kind of custom content you want to use in your game.

if you are a creator and don’t know how to lower poly to create proper LODs , check the links below.

1. decimate modifier (the one you should know. if not, get familiar with it)

2. checker deselect (collapsing and removing edge loops)

3. limited dissolve! (messier and can make a uv map ugly so use sparingly)

4. remove doubles (you should already be doing this if you create hair and clothing but it can be used for objects)

creators aren’t responsible for how someone else plays their game but if that creator is charging for cc (on patreon), they do have some obligation to warn or at least ATTEMPT to make cc that’s game ready. you do a huge disservice to your patrons (ie the ppl PAYING YOU TO MAKE CC) by releasing potentially computer-bricking cc.

also let’s normalize putting that poly count on cc releases pls!

Reblog it again, the best practice of making game-ready asset as far as i know is first create a high poly model, you can go as high poly and detailed as you want, name it as xxx_HP, and then from that create a low poly one, remove the subdivision and bevel modifier, merge all the edges and vertices that dont contribute to support the shape as much as you can, etc. Name the low poly mesh xxx_LP(the naming process is important for baking in programs like substance painter or marmoset), and then use the high poly one to bake on the low poly one, to create a normal map that extracts details from high poly and makes the low poly one appears more detailed. you can do that in blender, substance painter, marmoset toolbag or other 3d program of your choice.

*as im still learning this workflow, if there’s any mistake pls let me know.

i know its very time-consuming, but for the sake of other people’s gaming experience, especially if the cc is paid content. pls use this method instead of releasing crazy high poly meshes for games and call it “i dont want to lose any details”.

Phoenix Phaerie Gourmet Kitchen (TS4)

In my opinion this is the most beautiful kitchens out there in The Sims world. If I don’t get something like this as my own kitchen one day, I would be very, very sad…

What you get:

4 different counters (36 swatches, around 800 polys)

Info: The counter island isn’t quite right. I will fix it someday, just not now unfortunately. You can place a chair beside it, but the sims will clip into it if the chair is too close. Test with your sim when you place the island and hold ALT key to move it a little away.

The fridge has no door animation.

All objects has catalog thumbnails, but not all swatches. I try to playtest the objects I convert, but if there’s something missing/looking odd/don’t work, don’t be scared to let me know. I will fix it as soon as I can. You can search for the set by either Sanoysims or gourmet. Be sure your game is fully updated to find them! Screened-In Porch Series: Mesh Windows and Doors

We all know I love windows, but sometimes inspiration doesn’t strike. But when it does, boy does an idea come together. When i was making the Island Living addons, I came across the fly screen door and it was the perfect texture to inspire this set. This style has been highly requested, but as people know I need to want it for my game to have any chance of being made. With a texture in place and something I will use, the set was born. Now you can go forth and make screened in porches to your heart’s content.
