The more this guy seemed to talk the more Yukari lost faith in humanity…His pink hair was really deceiving, here she thought they could bond over such a great colour and become the best of friends who slept over at each other’s homes, talked about cute girls, compared underwear–

Like hell did she think any of that now. And she’d never admit she even conjured up such a thing in her mind in the first place.

“Vintage hm….Lying on the ground you say….Littering is bad..Yeah, yeah. I’ve heard it all before, honestly all guys are the same when it comes to their taste in that stuff, so secretive…and gross.”

“Mistress?! I’m only twenty I’m not a widowed old lady who lives on her own in a huge mansion on top of a hill….Yet! I’ll take the pretty part though, I am indeed that. You on the other hand…I’m loving your hair but…That personality and porn taste needs some serious renovating. What’s even in that magazine, anyway?”

     The stranger’s age comes at a small surprise, though he’s already sort of turned off because of her lack of appreciation of vintage. Each page expresses a time long forgotten, where the definitions of sexy were radically different from the present. If one will not appreciate the bodies of these women, one must appreciate the history behind each issue.

     “Alright, alright, not mistress,” he concedes, “I appreciate that compliment on my hair though, but allow me to school you on the meaning, the emotion, the value of vintage.” The magazine appears in his hands again, quickly taken from his back pocket once again. “This isn’t simply gross material-- vintage isn’t for that sort of stuff. Vintage is an appreciation. Vintage is history.”

     Then he flips the cover. 

     All the pages have been vandalized. Black marker coats every inch of every page. He slams the magazine down and crushes it with his foot. “Wh-what were we talking about? O-oh yeah, pink, yeah... I got some shit from my family for dying it this color, but, y’know, it fits.” He doesn’t dare look down at the desecrated magazine. “E-er, I’m Renzou Shima. You?”

Being pretty entranced by the other’s pink hair really caused Yukari to lose track of thoughts. She knew pink was a great colour, it made her feel at ease with her own colour scheme. This guy was definitely pulling it off…if not for the whole ‘cartoon delinquent’ look it gave, but she had faith in her first judgements, he was more than likely a stand-up guy who loved the colour pink as much as she did!

—So of course when a magazine fell out of his back pocket, she was more than willing to return it to him..

“…Playboy….Ah.”

Alright so sometimes her first judgements weren’t always spot on.

“Uh…Hey….You dropped something..” creep.

     He could feel someone staring at him. While, normally, he would feel somewhat flattered at being the object of attention (especially if the stare originated from a cute girl), but today was simply a different environment. 

     Renzou Shima wouldn’t resort to shoplifting to get a porn mag. No, he is an upstanding citizen though his track record with infiltrating a evil organization may show otherwise. He fished this piece of work, a vintage piece of work, out of some trash behind a seedy looking shop. He didn’t willingly dirty himself for the cause; he simply found it lying there and he simply picked it up and swiftly hid it in his back pocket. 

     And then it simply plops off his person onto the ground for a particularly cute girl to see, and he realizes maybe this chick is the stare he felt. They’re already not out to a good start-- the look of disgust is plain on her face. 

     He gingerly pick it up and places it back into his pocket before trying to explain himself.

     “Th-this is vintage-- I-I mean, I found this laying around on the street... and littering is bad, y’know? So I decided to take it out to its proper place,” he says, employing a very bad lie. “But, my pretty mistress, were you infatuated with my good looks? And now my dashing manners?”

     Different how this scenario plays out compared to most whom dwell within the city at hand. Ire and salt were most notable within any approaching subjects when it came it came to the creators overall. Foolish, however, to choose the very scientist the boy treks toward in his enamored intentions. Hands shove themselves into the pockets of her opened, white lab coat whilst blonde curls sway in the sweetened breeze. For now, there is intrigue in how she can make this puppet dance.

     ❝ Flattery will get you everywhere. I was hoping you’d say I was more than some mere queen, but we can’t get everything we want, ❞ she speaks, coral lips curling in nigh mischief at these teasing words. ❝ My, to think I’ve found someone who knows their place in this grubby city. I’m interested on just how much you’re willing to offer; do tell. ❞

     Her voice rings as smooth as he expects-- perhaps even more than he expects because he actually feels his heart begin to race with enthusiasm. To add on, she seems to accept his advances in stride. Truly a queen among queens. He doesn’t even care if she’s associated with those scientists or whatever. Adoration like this is blind. 

     “I will call you anything you wish, my empress, my queen, my supreme ruler-ess,” he speaks with a straight tone and a straight face, knowing (somewhere deep inside) that his words are ridiculous, but the charms of the woman always force him to do ridiculous shit anyway. “I will be willing to do anything. You can use me as a stepping stone, a footrest, a bridge. You can use me as your own personal punching bag stress relief because I know queen-empress-supreme-rulers like yourself have so much to deal with.” He takes a deep breath and kneels on one knee. “All I ask is to be able to bask in your absolute beauty.”

Layla was used to the feeling of eyes— thousands, millions she had felt before, carefully watching her movements. Such was the nature of a seasoned performer, something she had grown incredibly accustomed to. In Cape Mery, she had developed quite the reputation, but this… somehow felt a little different.

She’d found herself, on this afternoon, sitting idly at an outside, umbrella’d table with a cup of tea. She preferred to relax after her morning workout, and this became her chosen method. This time, however, she’d felt the scrutinizing eyes of a peculiar male sitting not too far from her. She wasn’t sure if he’d noticed that she saw him, for her dark sunglasses hid her oceanic gaze rather well, but she’d been eyeing him back for most of the time.

Finally, she decided to speak. The words were not loud, but they were clear and audible.

“Surely there isn’t something on my face,” came her ‘greeting’, if one could really call it that. “Though I would appreciate being informed if that were the case.”

     There’s nothing worse than being trapped in a city with little to no explanation, with powers more or less stripped from his being. Shima has, however, more or less stopped freaking out at this point because he seems to encounter more trouble when he’s frantic. A few encounters in dark alleyways have taught him to calmly assess his surroundings-- act like this is some sort of mission rather than treating it as a true kidnapping. C’mon, he infiltrated an organization run by a son of Satan before. Surviving this weird place would be a breeze.

     It would be a breeze if the damned scientist gave him some money to work with. His stomach is entirely devoid of any sort of sustenance. He attempted to remedy the problem by purchasing a few morsals of food, maybe a small pastry or sandwich, but as soon as he reached into his pocket, he found only emptiness. After pulling out three tufts of lint onto the counter, the cashier, a rather burly person, reached under the counter. Shina didn’t stick around to see what exactly was in store for him. 

     At least sitting around like a loser is free. From his little outpost in front of a small cafe, he sits alone, completely defeated. The only sight that keeps him going is the image of a beautiful blonde babe, supermodel type babe, sitting only a few tables away. He takes quick glaces at her because she’s absolutely stunning (he feels if he stares too long, he’ll go blind). 

     He flinches visibly when he hears her voice ring out, but he does take her initial words as permission to get a little closer. He stands up and walks to her table, not sitting down, but standing next to her. 

     “No, no, absolutely not, miss. I just couldn’t help but notice your absolutely stunning beauty,” he speaks with a level tone. “Perhaps this is destiny-- two strangers meeting in a beautiful and quaint cafe. May I have your name?” Closer to her, he begins to feel nervousness set in. His heart is racing, but he manages to hide any outward expression of what he’s truly feeling. He’s skilled with constructing facades.

     Pretty lady spotted at five o’clock. There’s some goddamn eclipse shit going on, some weird April Fools Day whatever too, but there is a very attractive lady approaching with a devilish air of superiority, and there’s absolutely no way Shima can resist.

     So, naturally, he approaches, a dumb enamored expression painting his face.

     “Hello, my new queen. How may I, a lowly princely type, be of service to you?”

     Shima can handle rain. He can handle droplets of water pouring down from the sky, pelting him and everything around him. He can handle the cold seeping through his clothes and through his skin. He can handle the unwillingness of anyone to let him stand under an umbrella (though, perhaps, he should change his targets from pretty women to a wider demographic).

     However, he can’t handle stepping into a puddle that appears shallow, only a few centimeters at most, but is actually far, far deeper. One step forward and his entire leg up to his knee is entirely submerged in water. Naturally, he shrieks at the sudden loss of footing. 

      “What the hell? What the hell is this? Someone help?! Please?!” No one walking along the sidewalk seems to pay any sort of attention to the struggling teen with half his gone seemly eaten by a void of water. Perhaps this sort of thing is more than a regular occurrence to them.
