Daiyu nodded. “That works just fine for me,” she agreed. “I’ll follow your lead, as you’re the one who knows where we’re going.

PRE-EVENT

Daiyu chuckled softly. “I think your accent is quite easy to understand,” she said assuringly. “But English isn’t my first language. Sometimes the nuances of it escape me.”

“Right, twice a day.” Luna agreed with a nod. “Will it be this food?”

“Sometimes,” she said. “Sometimes it’s different food. But it’s generally all very tasty, considering the budget.”

“That makes sense.” She just hoped she remembered after the dreams, but her face went thoughtful at the girl’s next words. “I think he is paying for it. He said he would take care of me.” The man didn’t live here, she knew that, but he was the one who brought her here, and said he would make sure she was taken care of, so that had to mean food too.

That was vague. “Well then, in the morning, you should come here,” she said. “They’ll give you food. And when the sun goes down, you should come here again.”

Luna nodded thoughtfully. “I will try to remember.” Although she didn’t know that she would. The sun was as slippery as time, but the food was good. “And I do. Sleep at night. Mostly.”

Most creatures did - though some humans, she found, stuck to no such schedule. “Well, then. After you wake up, you should come here for food.” She paused. “Do you have money to pay for food?” She had to pay rent somehow, didn’t she? Now she was entirely concerned for the girls wellbeing.

Luna ate faster, enjoying every morsel of the food until the other person spoke again and she looked up, blinking. “I don’t know.” She said, looking down at the food. She had eaten half of it already, and she was still starving. “It was before now.”

Daiyu was getting more and more curious. “Well. I would suggest that you try to eat at least twice a day - meaning, when the sun is in the sky. Assuming you sleep at night, of course.”

Luna frowned down at her plate. If someone else could recognize it, it was probably safe, so she nodded. “Thank you.” She said before taking a mouthful, eyes widening a bit at the taste. Suspect, maybe, but it was delicious.

Daiyu watched the girl eat, intrigued. She seemed human. Not many humans were here. “When was the last time you ate?” she asked.

Luna sat in the cafeteria, poking at some sort of food. She didn’t know what it was, but they had said it was for eating, so she would eat it. Eventually. She glanced up to see another girl there, and wondered if she dared to speak up. “Do you know what this is?” She questioned softly, pointing at the food.

Daiyu glanced up at the unfamiliar face, and then down at her plate. She answered kindly: “Those are green beans, and potatoes, and some chicken.”

Ara walked quietly by Daiyu looking around the room for a charm they sensed near by. Ara silently called out to Fee, their familiar, to keep an eye on their back and Daiyu just in case. Ara did not want to fight a dragon this early in this contest.

Daiyu glanced up at the other security guard, noting her trepidation. “You can go ahead and take anything you find here,” she said. “I’m not participating.”

Daiyu did not like this competition. She didn’t like that the Patron - whoever that was - thought to pit everyone against each other.

Thus, Daiyu was not participating. Any charms she stumbled upon she planned leaving where they were. Until this was over, she sat in the cafeteria, silently sipping her tea.

Yao looked over at the girl with a raised eyebrow, genuinely surprised by the apology. It almost made him feel guilty. “Oh, it wasn’t annoyance. It was just a statement.”

Daiyu let her hands rest in her lap regardless. “You’re not someone I’ve seen around before,” she said, blinking at him curiously. “Are you new? Or am I less observant than I thought?”

“Oh, no, I meant - I meant I had met people of both types,” she said. “I’m sorry, that didn’t really come out right. But, I suppose, in hindsight some people are capable of being both.”

Daiyu hummed softly. “I’ve met many people that fall into both categories,” she agreed with a small nod.

“We’re happy to have you here,” Daiyu said with a soft, welcoming expression. “It’s easier having all four resident managers on site.”
