SLAYER 1981 ⸸ 2019 Oils on canvas
I'll always remember the first time I heard Slayer. They were one of the first bands that got me into metal. The first song I heard was "God Send Death" and I remember just being blown away because it was much heavier than anything I'd heard prior.
I put my own little spin on some of the artwork from these albums, by either including or not including certain elements, and tried my best to compile everything in an aesthetically pleasing way that didn't look too cluttered, and still kept the album art recognizable. I'm sure many will ask how long this took, and collectively, minus my lulls in time, and long hiatuses, this took nearly 150 hours in total.
Without getting too sappy, thank you to everyone who helped motivate me and verbally kick my ass so I could get this done, because we all know I can't finish a piece to save my soul. I am so happy that every part turned out how I wanted, with some parts turning out even, better than expected.
Prints are coming, which you can find on my Etsy store (link in bio), so keep your eyes and ears peeled and share this with every Slayer fan you know! As for this big boy, I'm still indecisive on selling it, though I likely will since I know there is a Slayer fan out there who'd die to have this hanging on their wall.
I, like many others, were saddened when Slayer announced they were calling it quits after so long, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to see them three times in my life, and that I was able to hear their final goodbye from their last tour.
RIP Slayer and RIP Jeff Hanneman ❤ Forever reigning in our hearts. 🤘🏻
