The initial focuses of the project will be the Black struggles in the United States and South Africa and the Palestinian shatat or diaspora in the Middle East and Europe. The Project is not limited to these geographic sites and will organically develop as informed by the work on the ground.
The Dream Defenders have now led two delegations to Palestine. Delegates have a chance to see the land and occupation up close, while engaging in dialogue and relationship building with Palestinians on the ground engaged in the struggle for justice. DDPalestine is a part of the resurgence of internationalism within the US based movement for justice, especially inspired by the connections of Black & Palestinian liberation. Historically this movement has existed for decades, with no shortage of figures exchanging commitments of solidarity, and here we are again, declaring that our liberation is tied together.

Abstract:
Recent work in black and indigenous studies has made claims to exceptionalism that leave the two fields at an impasse. This article argues that since the nineteenth century, US colonial projects have relied upon a simultaneous logic of anti-blackness and settlement. It further argues that social movements have been able to capitalize on radical forms of solidarity by suspending claims to exceptionalism so pervasive in scholarship. It concludes with a sketch of black-Palestinian solidarity activism, paying particular attention to how the anti-blackness at work in the Israeli settler project makes blackness resonate in Palestine and occupation resonate among black Americans.
