//Hey folks sorry for being so gone recently. I’ve been 50/50 working on uni stuff and the other half doing other things that interested me at the time (The Witcher 3 in particular atm). Roleplaying to me is very much an impulse thing that requires inspiration and dedication, and as a hobby, it’s something I am bound to cycle out of at times. I’m pretty much incapable of maintaining an interest in the same thing for extended amounts of time, and I suppose RPing fell into that at some point along the way.

That is not to say that I dislike or am bored of our threads (the ones I currently have that is), I absolutely adore them. There is so much happening there that I love so much, reaching from family reunions and sass, noble schemes and tricks and fluffy times with little lavender.

I have never under any circumstances felt bored or uninterested in the threads. I could easily talk on end about all of them, I am just super crap at writing (he says as he’s last minute doing an essay for uni right this moment)

Either way I felt like you guys @soulsurvivcr @oftheknife @marcus-ducouteau @noxian-rose deserved an explanation as to what had happened.

I promise you replies in the near future, but not until I get my bearings. I am pretty certain that all of you are very patient people and have already expressed that I can take my time, but you know, we are all humans who live to expectations and so we end up not wanting to disappoint expectations, right?

As an addendum I want to say that you guys are really rad and patient with me and I appreciate that a lot. Once my marbles are decidedly collected, I will absolutely write replies, and dedicate more time to answering threads. Apologies for this ridiculous wait though.

🚼 - Does your character have or want kids? (yes hello I'd like to hear/see more of that cutie) & 😂 - Your character is moved to tears. What’s a kindness that another showed to them?

While the conscious decision to have kids rarely occurs to Talon, he often entertains the concept of being a father, so he could not only follow in Marcus’ footsteps as a great teacher, but to give someone else the gift of life, and the privilege of having a family from birth.

Talon’s reservations about parenthood, though, are deeply rooted in his orphancy, and he is terrified he would be a bad parent because he didn’t have biological parental figures, and especially the lack of maternal nurturing. He would like kids, but doesn’t know if he would be worthy, and as such is hesitant to the prospect and commitment if Tyrian was to ever suggest it.

(As a side note, Azalea ends up becoming a dedicated daddy’s girl and wants to grow up to be a blademaster like her father, and while Talon takes pride in the opportunity of training his daughter, he also doesn’t want her to get on the same bloody path as himself. @soulsurvivcr wrote a beautiful oneshot called “The Choice” for me which was about Azalea’s decision to learn the blade and assassin’s path despite Talon’s warnings. IM me and I’ll send it to you ;))

Talon is a typical man’s man in the sense that tears = weakness. He never permits himself to cry or grieve, but there are deep wounds that if prodded can make him need a double take before talking, such as life as a streetrat, and Marcus’ disappearance.

One of the first times Talon cried of joy was a few months after he had been officially adopted by the Du Couteau house. After constant quarrels and fights with his sisters, Cassiopeia inadvertently called him “worst brother ever”, and while he did his best to pretend he wasn’t happy, he broke into tears once Cass left the room.

Talon has secretly wanted pets at the manor for years, and while he was more into it when he was younger, it remains a minor dream of his. He would probably like something akin to a lizard or a snake, perhaps a cat, which he could stare at during quiet hours and go “haha, look at you, you’re so fat and lazy.”

He considered many times to ask Marcus if they could get hunting dogs to go to the forest with (though it was just a fake reason so they could get a pet), but he never dared.

Someday he would like to.

He would be fiercely protective of it, no matter what animal it would be. (Though he’s not too big on fish.)

While he recognises that there are spellcasters and supernatural beings that might possess such powers, he dislikes the concept of knowing the future. A raise of her glass, the practiced eager grin carved on her fair features; naturally perfected through the centuries as the crystalline drink clinked daintily like a miniature bell against that of the others. Thin red lips kissed the cheek of a General’s, a hand slyly wandering to his back and baby blue orbs bringing him closer to her. 

“Tonight.” Her free hand clasped over his briefly before drawing back, her lingering warmth left on his pale, bony fingers. Half-lidded eyes dimmed but LeBlanc wandered elsewhere, weaving through the crowds— a smile of allure touching those who found themselves entranced by her features. Aimlessly she drifted through the ocean of the gala’s attendants for the night, whispers of the Du Couteau house’s arrival having reached her ears by the moment she had strode to the entrance of the grand hall that held the night’s celebrations.; sipping from her drink. She melded effortlessly with the crowd as she had done for the majority of the night, dark lips curling into an eager smirk as her eyes spotted Talon from the crowd.

Talon groaned as the fabric chafed. Even when it wasn’t he groaned. It was a never-ending stream of groans. He hated galas, he hated formality, and he hated it most of all when he had to go there alone. At least when he went with either of his siblings there was some company. Tonight he was but a stand-in for his oldest sisters, them being occupied elsewhere.

He knew he would get the attention, being the only Du Couteau. The double-edged blade that was being a high-profile family. He had already faked a sequence of smiles, handshakes and bows, and he knew they would not end until they were all good and marinated.

He felt he needed a sip himself, and seized some champagne to drown his frustration with. Before he got to drinking, he saw the crowd separate cleanly, as if making way for royalty. His first fear was that the bird-man was gonna come around, and he felt himself shudder. Out from the masses stepped a woman he had never seen before, though he had never put much effort into remembering the countless snobs at the balls.

As she approached, he straightened his back and put on a smile, preparing himself for another fake encounter.
