“Maybe. Maybe not.” She sips another mouthful of coffee, face remain impassive as the smoke from the steaming cup continue to rises. Another sigh escape her lips and she stared out of the window, thinking about what he said.

“Although… I wonder…” She inquired to herself. “I understand. The past is a scary place, and I’m not sure if we wanted to relive it.” She raise her cup or coffee and pointed to him, a smile on her face.

“To you, to us. To whatever the future might hold.”

He nods and raises his glass in agreement. “To the future and its trials”

It feels silly, two people clinking coffee cups together. But the mood and atmosphere was almost… endearing. As she sips the last bit of coffee, the woman stood up and leave the money on the table for the server to collect and she signaled for Zed to leave with a tilt of her head. And the two headed out, with new resolution in their heads.

“Even though things might be tough, you scratch my back and i’ll scratch yours, yeah? We’ll be there for each other.” She smiles.

"Sounds like a plan." He said with a nod as they left the shop. "I dont mind working together."

“If I was your lover”… Finish it in my ask.

“My past….is something really dark and gruesome so losing a bit of it is never too bad.” He said sipping his coffee. “I had a son at one point I think…now I don’t exactly know.” He was looking out the window at the people passing by, some laughing others argued and some just walked hand in hand.

“Its the past though it should stay there for the better I guess”

Zed sighed and leaned back in his chair. He then scratched his head and let out a grunt. “No….all I know or can remember is that I was tired of this feeling of chains dragging me down there was someone I just needed to forget I guess. And I came to the conclusion of just restarting.”

“Yeah… I know what you mean. I wished I could have no responsibility or burden like you do now. To just not having an anchor weighing in your heart. But sadly, those memories can never be regained, so here I am.” She said with a solemn expression on her face. She couldn’t afford to forget everything, her sufferings, her scars and past. It contains her parents, their faces. She couldn’t afford to forget that. Sighing, the woman watched idly as the server brought out her caramel mocha, placing it in front of her.

Taking a sip, she sighs again as the sweetness of caramel and the bitterness of coffee hit her tongue. It calms her somewhat as the aroma of the latte filled her nostril with a soft scent.

“It feels…good. No? Do you ever wanted to remember what happened in the past?”
