On a Whim, we Fly || Juliet and Lennon

“Of course,” Juliet wheeled her luggage behind her as she trailed alongside Lennon. The smaller woman was wrapped in a joy, swaddled in the warmth of the city. She could see how much it felt like a home to Lennon. To see someone else happy in all of the feelings genuinity, it made the artist slip into a euphoric state herself. “There’s nothing quite like this city, it holds a magic the rest of the world simply can’t create. It’s bright, and full of dreamers glistening hopes to become lost within all of it’s concrete.” Something like that, she eased a smile to her dearest friend. Rustling for her keys, Juliet took in a small breath. This felt overdue, coming back to the city ground, home to one of her galleries. It was a place Lennon and Juliet met within, and for that, she would forever be thankful.
“It’s a little odd to be back.” Her thoughts were voiced truthfully as Juliet fiddled to unlock the back door to her gallery. It was the very door that lead to the stairs of her upstairs apartment. The one that Lennon came through when the artists muse was pained from her weak heart. Politely, Juliet held open the door for Lennon, allowing the woman to go inside first. “It is now when I wish I repaired that old elevator.” She humored following the brunette up the stairs. They had so many memories here, just on the other side of the door, Juliet was welcoming to all of them to flood her. So she went inside. It would be silly for them, or for Lennon to stay in a hotel room. “You can take the spare,” of course Juliet would take her own room, “–or if you’d prefer Dahlia’s room.” She gave Lennon a light wink leaving her luggage at the door. She would handle it later. Her body was slightly worn from the long flight. “You know, get as comfortable as you need…just not too comfortable where I can’t get you back to London with me.”
Lennon felt like her entire body was aglow as she walked next to Juliet and waited for her to unlock the door to her flat. “I think that’s exactly it. Everyone seems to come here with a light, a determination to succeed and it seems to make the city itself glow.” She couldn’t help but feel that way as New York had always been her home and she had only had good memories of growing up underneath the glistening lights of the city that never sleeps.
“You haven’t been back in forever, it’s a shame. If you can manage you should come back more often. I think the apartment misses you.” She smiled, giving the blonde a wink as she set her bags down next to Juliet’s. “I don’t think Dahlia would appreciate an old lady sleeping in her bed. A girl needs her space. It’s sacred. I’ll have no issue sleeping in the spare” Lennon pushed down her feelings as they bubbled up inside her. Juliet was a taken woman. Taken by a woman by love and by marriage and who also shared a precious child with. No matter her feelings and how much they made her ache inside, she couldn’t act upon them. “I couldn’t possibly stay away from London for too long. Yes, it’s true, New York is my home and always will be, but London holds too many people I hold dear. I can’t sacrifice that for a city that although fills me with light, doesn’t give me the comfort, attention and affection that I find in all the girls in the house. And then what would I do without you, hmm? Or your precious girl and her spontaneous strolls into my room?” She smiled warmly at the thought of everyone in the London house, all the girls that truly felt like family.
