Each crack in her voice was like a stab at Luke’s heart especially when it concerned her talking about him. The repetitive sorry’s weren’t going to fix what she did to him though he didn’t dare tell her that since it seemed his pleas would fall on deaf ears. Scoffing under his breath the dirty blonde gave her a hopeful smile. “Yeah, I’m sure we all wish it was easier than that…” He murmured softly his eyes falling onto the fridge in front of them, masking just how much he hated time as time and time again he told himself that the feelings he had for his best friend would fall away in time. “You’re welcome.” Pressing a kiss to the crown of her head Luke nodded. “Anytime… I wish I could do more for you– I’m sorry.” He whispered his own voice cracking some.
She stayed in his arms as the two talked back and forth, not wanting to move from his embrace thinking that if she did he’d no longer keep holding her. “It should be easier than that..” she returned his hopeful smile though a glint of frustration in her eyes. Life wasn’t nice and it wasn’t fair, Blake knew that, but everything in her thought it should be different, especially for those who did good.. but that’s just the way it was. She closed her eyes as he kissed the crown of her head. “I know,” Blake whispered back, tightening the embrace she had on him so as to acknowledge a thank you to him.
