“Got to lose control before you take control.”
Patti Smith.
We always knew that we were a fan of Patti Smith but that she was secretly a trend watcher, who picked up on the chaordic trend way back when…. who knew?
The chaordic trend describes the simultaneous existence of chaos and order of our connected society. It’s the way the future generation is wired. We’ll be reporting more on this in the coming months.
As I read "Just kids" in autumn 2012, I got really inspired by Patti's life as all the ups and downs of her life gave me a huge inspiration and strenght. I was looking for a new flat at the time and it was almost painful, since I had absolutely loved the old flat. My landlady was sweet old lady, but she had a plan to sell the flat and so we had to move out. I had been looking for around two months already and started to feel a little bit panic. Then I went to see one flat, which was almost in horrible state: fruit flies all over, dirt, garbage bags and some really random stuff around (for example dancing pole in the living room). It just kept thinking about Patti's and Robert's first flat in New York and somehow I ended up making the rent contract. The ex-tenant made me go through a lot of trouble, since he had no right to rent the flat to anyone else. Just one day after we had moved all our things in, I got a call from the agency that owned the flat and realized that the ex-tenant guy had had a plan to trick me and steal my money. The situation was truly chaotic and I was really scared what's gonna happen. Luckily, everything went on perfectly: the ex-tenant got a punishment, I got my money back and the flat became a proper home, after all the cleaning and scrubbing we did with my man. Somehow, I'd like to think it all happened just because of Patti's "example". Sometimes you really have to lose control to get control!
