Blessed be to the Bright Angel

Blessed is the one who is empty, Blessed is the one who is dead. The son whom she loved has killed her; She apologises for not being there. Her little slice of Heaven, Alone and cold in this world. The angel has fallen; Nothing but remains sitting on an empty shelf.

"You are my Hevvin.." She sings quietly, lying down next to her baby foal. "My only Hevvin.." She continued, tucking his head under her own and placing it on the ground. "You make me happy when the skies have turned gray.." Her tail swished behind her, lightly fanning her baby boy. "You never know, dear, how much I love you.." Her voice began to get quieter, now - a little more tired. "Please don't take.. my Hevvin away.." And, with that, she gave Hevvin a lick goodnight and fell asleep.

Hevvin just listened to his mother’s singing, about to argue and squirm free. Instead, he huffed and mumbled, before yawning and slowly falling asleep.

The next day seemed to come by far too soon, but Bless didn’t mind as she slowly, very tiredly looked at her sleeping angel and lightly nudged him awake. “Come on, Hevvin..” She whispered, licking his muzzle and stretching herself out. “Time to get out the nest, okay?”

Hevvin shook his head and turned onto his side, “Nnnn, mother, nooo. Don’t wanna get up…” He snorted, and yawned, before opening one eye.

She could only chuckle at this before nudging his side with her nuzzle. “Hevvin,” Bless’ voice was just a little bit sterner, “Get up and go enjoy the sunshine. Please?”

"Motherrrrrr." Hevvin sighed, as he rolled onto his back. He squirmed and flailed about. "I don’t LIKE the sunshine!"

Bless laughed just a little bit, batting the foal with her tail. "Fine, Hevvy, do you want to stay inside with me for just a little longer? But we have to go outside, soon - the herd's going to the lake today."

Oh. Just typical, Angelbright behaviour. With a small sigh, Bless trotted up to her mate and nodded a little, a small smile coming on her muzzle. "Yeah, I've just woken up. I suppose that they are growing foals, right? Off doing their own thing.. it'll be strange, seeing them leave the nest.."

Ambrosia stared at the skull that was the mother of his dear little brother. He hated her. Well, no. He didn’t hate her. He just hated that she took up so much of Hevvin’s time and attention when they were smaller. Now she was acting like she cared. Maybe she did, maybe she didn’t, it didn’t matter. All he wanted was to finally spend time with his brother, and now this….this….HORSE….had to show up and mess everything up.

“I….I could be better….” Don’t mess up Ambrosia. Keep your head on and maybe she will go away.

It grew to be uncomfortable now, the dead unicorn not moving about at all. Maybe death changed some people; she could recall a time when Ambrosia was happier, always frolicking around and causing the herd to explode with laughter and ‘fralala’s.

“That’s.. good..” She muttered, and it seemed she ran out of things to say.

Ambrosia could also feel the uncomfortable air that surrounded them both. He was staring at the ground. Then he realized something. He remembered the bit of information that he realized about himself. He came from his brothers mind. None of the skulls could actually talk. They were dead. This means…

Hevvin replaced him.

HEVVIN REPLACED HIM.

Ambrosia felt a sudden stab. He had been replaced. With a talking skull. A TALKING SKULL. Ambrosia clenched his hands into fists and shook as he started to feel tears running down his face. He could forgive Hevvin for killing him, but replacing him? No, no that was unforgivable. He was crying pretty hard now. Gods, he hated that horse called Hevvin’s mother. If he hadn’t hated her before, he certainly did now.

Bless was taken aback, not expecting the tears that came from the blue anthro. "Ambrosia?" She questioned, concern lacing her non-existent voice. "Why are you crying?"

There was a very, very long silence. And then he managed to process what had happened. Oh no. Oh hell no. Hevvin’s mother was here. Great. Now his little brother would spend all his time talking to her. And poor Ambrosia would be pushed into the background again.

So. Bless just sat there, looking up at Ambrosia. Yes, granted - she didn’t give birth to the blue unicorn, but she still loved him as if he was his own. She loved all of those in the herd. “Ambrosia..” Came the soft ‘voice’ emitting from the skull.

Oh great. Now she was talking to him. Quick, what should he say? Uhm…something mean probably wouldn’t fly too well. She was his elder after all. And a skull. So there wasn’t much she could do. But if he acted like an ass to her, chances are Hevvin would be mad at him too.

The atmosphere, from what the semi-sentient could feel, was rather tense. The bone stayed quiet for several moments, as if trying to figure out what to say, before speaking up again. "How.. are you?" She truely did care for the youngsters of the Herd. Or, at least, she did before Hevvin killed her. But now, being part of Hevvin's conscience, she continued to care for her now-dead relatives.

“You really need to listen to your mother, Hevvin!” The inanimate skull seemed to yell, though it still sat on the nest made of dead leaves. “I can’t leave my son again!”

“Fineeeee.” Hevvin tugged lightly at his hair. “I’ll listen to you! I’ll stop trying to freak people out, alright? I shall stay cooped up inside this place most of the time and rarely come out! Will THAT make you happy?”

"No! That's not what I want at all!" If the skull could, it would have looked away. However, it just stared lifelessly at the frustrated, cracking anthropomorph. "I want you to go out, make friends, and not to freak people out." Her 'tone' was softer, now, getting away from the angry voice she hated so much.
