 Thinking about someone being like “werewolves are boring” recently and ‘I’m like you don’t understand werewolves can represent so MUCH and that’s why they’re so fun like they can represent QUEERNESS they can represent OTHERNESS they can represent RAGE it can be a release of tension and a triumph as you break out of your shell OR more often it is a curse or a part of you that you hate and fear and have to battle with it can be something personal and internal or it can be something that others you from other human beings and makes them fear and hate and ostracize you. It can be BOTH a blessing and a curse. A simultaneous release of tension and freedom and letting something out while ALSO something that makes you a danger to others and yourself. It represents something primal and natural which humans have distanced themselves from or/and it’s something severely unnatural and supernatural. They can represent so many different things, either simultaneously or just the things the author wants to use. Swiss army wolf. But also wolves are cool and monsters are cool and big wolf monsters are cool.

Wait I’m not done because also you can flow between themes as the character goes on and maybe something that was a curse they hated becomes something they learn to live with or something freeing or maybe it’s something they wanted and thought would be liberating but they struggle more and more with the consequences or like fuck it you might just want a person who is a big doggie and that’s also rlly good.
