Riley's wings are too small to support his full weight in flight.

Demon Headcanon

Riley started out as a tiny, fuzzy bat. And then he fell in love--with a necklace that was on a mannequin. The poor little thing became incredibly jealous of all the humans who were able to wear pretty jewelry and wished fervently that he could become one as well.

He was also a pretty dumb bat and probably ended up sealing a contract with what he thought was a nice little angel. It wasn't.

He was, however, given a human body under the condition that he had to take a little blood from humans every three days in order to maintain his form.

Unfortunately taking blood is annoying and poor boy ended up forgetting after a while so he got his butt dragged to hell. Oops.

Also, he never did get that shiny he fell in love with first. So it's highly probably that his obsessiveness with nicking shinies off of clients comes from his unfulfilled desire. Poor baby bat.

He's also kept his bat wings and his little blood-drinking fangs. He's a big fan of apple slices and if he ever gets the privilege of getting his hands on any he snags them and darts away. He seems to equally enjoy sucking the juices out of the slices or just happily crunching away on them.
