Chaerin nodded, pleased that at least the other knew where the vending machines were located, but that feeling instantly was replaced with feeling bad for the other. The reason was likely that he was more familiar with the layout of the hospital, or perhaps just this floor, because he was the patient. Who knows how long he had been here for. A part of her wanted to reach out and squeeze his arm, as though a silent gesture to hang in there, but they had only just met and perhaps that would be a little weird.
“Sounds good,” she responded with a smile, trying to hide her thoughts so that the other didn’t feel bad. Chaerin tried not to go too fast, although the other was taller and had longer legs and likely could take longer strides, but she did her best. She tried to listen to anything that sounded like he was out of breath or as if this was causing him discomfort, but heard nothing. Her mind couldn’t help but wonder why he was here.
“Oh yeah? Is it a hit or miss then?” she asked, trying to think what kind of snacks would be there now. “I hope it’ll be good ones…although I guess hospitals try to be somewhat healthy even in their junk food, huh? But I love dried laver, just the plain one though, I know some people like the flavoured kind. And banana milk is always a winner too.”
When he asked her what he wanted, she felt surprised again. He was polite and accomodating her, even though he was the patient. “I’m good with anything and everything, I’m not picky,” she said with a smile on her face to hopefully reassure the other. “What about you, though? Are you okay with just snacks? If you want something from the food court I can get it and bring it to your room if you like?”
Seojun again returned the smile, wider this time with a small laugh. It was a nice gesture that the other asked, even if seojun was the one who dragged her with him in the first play but hey, she did it on her own accord and that makes him really happy. He shook his head at the question, “ the doctor said I shouldn't eat much after my medicines and besides, food tastes weird after you take them so I prefer something light, ” maybe it’s the medicines fault that’s too bitter for his own taste that anything he ate becomes bland or just bitter as the medicine.
“ I think I’m going to bring back several snacks with me, ” he decided, his snack drawer is getting thin anyway. He always snacks a lot when he’s in the hospital, maybe it’s because he’s bored and have nothing to do, it’s better than disturbing the other patients beside him anyway--though they’re always kind to him.
He tugged on the other’s sleeve, just slightly while pointing over to a particularly giant vending machine corner just across the hallway. “ There it is, there it is! ” he strides faster towards the corner, leaving her behind but still slow enough for the other to follow him (and without disturbing the patients behind closed doors). Simple things excited him more than a usual kids around his age. After all, the white and sterile rooms with the anesthesia smell is what he grew up with.
“ Noona, noona! ” he called out excitedly, the smile never leaving his features. “ There’s chocopies too now! ” he shoved his hand down to the pocket of his pants to find the money he kept earlier, “ which one do you want noona, I’ll buy it for you! ”
