You did it

Have you ever dreamed of winning a major wether it’s Oirechtas or worlds? Holding up that globe and just remembering the countless hours you spent in your practice room. Taking off your shoes and not even second guessing the blood spots on your socks. Skipping your best friends sweet 16 or even semi. People may ask us why we irish dance. To be honest there is no real answer. We love it and wouldn’t know what to do with ourselves without it. We love the adrenaline that pumps through our body when we are zipping up our dress. We love how dedicated our teachers are, and without them none of us would be where we are today. The butterflies that overpower our body when the world qualifiers are being announced. As they get down to the top 6 all you can do is pray that it paid off and you get a spot on the podium. They call fifth, fourth, third. You still can’t believe that you made it this far. Tears are running down your face all you want to do is scream and drop to the floor. They announce second… You did it. You won. You are the new champion. Your teachers come running up to the stage some in tears others in pure excitement. They knew you had it in you this whole time. As you get off the top box your friends come running over. You couldn’t have done it without them. As you make your way back to where your school is sitting you get many congratulations and hugs from various schools. You see your parents. Tears in their eyes, so proud of how far you’ve come. They can only remember that little girl that refused to stop doing her 1,2,3s in the mall. Hours later you get back to your room and sit on the bed and stare at your sash, crystal, and trophy/plaque. You really did it.

I love that people are refusing to let go of Uptown Funk lol like it came out November last year and it’s now May and it’s still in the top 10 on Spotify and it’s still in the top 20 on the UK singles chart.

It’s like the world is trying to make up for the horrible mistake of making Blurred Lines so popular.
