“Damn baby, why didn’t you tell me you had all this good pussy?”
Cameron mumbled against your bare leg that were currently hiked over his broad shoulder, his voice dripping with admiration a lot sweeter than the way he was fucking you.
The question was rhetorical but emphasised just how much he was enjoying being inside of you.
Goosebumps broke all over the surface of your flushed and damp skin, choking on a whiny moan as your cunt tightly squeezed and pulsated around him. The throbbing sent a shiver down the length of his spine and settled in his bones. A flurry of chopped sobs poured from your mouth as your climax began to climb. You were so close. And he could feel it all.
You would have tried to answer his question but in truth - you didn’t know how to.
The two of you met during freshman in college - sharing the same physiotherapy classes and the two of you instantly clicked. When he first approached you - you couldn’t believe that he’d even talk to you. When you first arrived on campus, his name was uttered in every corner. He was the person to know because of his projected career. You had wanted to keep away from him - you didn’t like attention being drawn to you at all but Cameron just had to be enrolled on your course.
Even worse, he came to sit next to you.
You stilled at just making eye contact with him. Low sitting blue eyes, dimples deep as he smiled, rosy lips begging for attention and from his seated position alone you could tell that he was tall. He made sure that you couldn’t ignore him and you hated that fell for his charm, hook, line and sinker.
The attraction was shared and the chemistry intensified with each interaction but nothing ever came off it.
Football. Girlfriends. Endorsements. A great rookie career - all of it got in the way.
So friendship is what you settled for and you were grateful just to be a part of his journey.
Unfortunately for you, he was relentless. The friendship status did not matter to him at all and Cameron steadily flirted with you like the devil of temptation resided in his flesh. Always hanging around, giving you his undivided attention when you were close. Treating you just on the edges of a girlfriend, yet always teasing the word ‘friend’ in front of you. You always let it wash over you because being close to him in any capacity was worth it.
That attraction however, could not be denied and could not be hidden. And he’d picked up on it and he played with it - he played with you. He enjoyed teasing you. Kissing you on the neck, hands on your lower waist as he moved past you, hugs that lingered. Girlfriends be damned - you were the apple of his eye even if you denied what you were to him.
So that was how you found yourself in his penthouse - on a supposed regular night in with your best friend on his days off. So how you ended up in your current predicament was unbeknownst to you.
A movie, typical gossip, a game of tease.
From there all it took was a kiss.
A soft brush of your lips when he leaned down above you, whispering teasingly against your lips, fingers underneath your chin before gripping your jaw so that you couldn’t shift your eye contact away from him. So that he could see all of that want dripping out of your eyes.
“Do it.” You dared him.
And it was no surprise that he listened.
You had been so determined not to fall into his orbit and now you were on your back, sweating out your hairstyle, tank top ripped and panties pulled to the side as he manhandled you in every way. Your pussy stretched out and creaming around the thickest dick you’ve ever had in your life as you moaned in bliss. Fuck, you loved every second of it.
Cameron’s thrusts were deliciously brutal, his hips snapped into yours as your legs hang over his shoulders. He fucked you like you were a bitch in heat and you sounded just like one. Your mouth dropped open as your cries and whines could not be contained, sounding real pretty for him.
He breathed heavily through his nose at the sight your cream coating the length of his dick. Cam wedged his hands underneath the arch at the base of your back and gripped tight. He used your body as leverage to fuck into you even deeper.
The heat of the bedroom was making you delirious as much as the way his fat mushroom tip was pushing against your softest spots. You were so loud and Cameron drank all of your sounds by shushing you with rough kisses.
The wet clapping emitting from where your bodies connected was getting so loud, Cameron had to look down. His loud moan barely registered through the fog clouding your senses.
“You’re sooo fucking wet baby. Gushing all that good shit all over me, fuuuccckkk.”
You were looking up at him, doe eyed, a soft crease pinching in-between your eyebrows with your teeth biting onto your bottom lip as you tried to control it. He was hitting all of your good spots and it was so intense, it sat like a weight on your chest.
Then, Cameron pushed your legs back so that your knees were touching your ears and he moved to hover directly above you. He used his upper body to contort you into the perfect position for him - ready for his taking and you were in awe with how it left you feeling. The weight of pleasure sinking into your bones, deeper and deeper.
“O-oooh!” You gasped as you pulled on the sheets underneath your fingertips.
His beautiful, blue eyes never left your face as he watched your pretty face surrender into the pleasure he was delivering. Your eyebrows drew together tighter, as if you were about to cry, your lips forming into an ‘o’ form as he slowed down his strokes, letting you enjoy the feel of him. Inch by inch.
Soft curves and hard muscles colliding into each other. Naked, skin on skin - still, felt like there was a barrier between the two of you. The thought slamming into you, nothing will ever be enough, you will always want more. Cameron groaned as he felt the pain of your nails breaking into the skin of his back as you unintentionally brought him closer.
You were begging for him without words and that caused him to smirk in satisfaction. Cameron couldn’t believe you had been keeping this type of connection away from him. The type of connection that quenched your thirst but left you famished for more.
He was brought out of his thoughts by the feel of your trembling fingers tracing his bottom lip, tugging it free from his teeth. He placed a tender kiss on the inside pad of your thumb before his eyes drew back to where your bodies connected. The sight of it caused all of his blood to soar down to his aching dick.
Slathered all over his base was milky white. It built up generously and it accumulated so much the flapping wetness caused his eyes to roll to the back of his head. He couldn’t believe you’d ever get this wet.
“Yeahhh mamas, I can’t believe she’s this wet for me …”
Cameron doesn’t take his eyes off your cunt as he slammed back in, the wetness drawing a delicious drag with drag. He threw his head back as a deep groan left him. The sound was so primal it sent nasty shivers down your spine and settled in your pelvis.
But you didn’t move your hand away from his pelvis as he was folding you even deeper. In fact, Cameron, lowered his upper body until he was completely folded over yours. His pelvis ground against your clit, his trimmed hair brushing your clit - hard.
Cameron was wild in his lust.
He sucked bruising kisses into your neck, his tongue trailed hotly up to your mouth to claim it in a deep kiss. It was all consuming, overwhelming. His long tongue flattened against yours in maddening swipes, sucking the muscle sloppily into his own mouth which made you lightheaded.
Blood rushed to your ears as he ground his hips up again, hammering away at that spot inside you but not enough to make you cross eyed and your hand pressed on his abdomen.
Cameron kept his eyes on as you gasped desperately. Your eyes closed as he nipped at your bottom lip which caused you to sigh softly. His tongue darted out and soothed the sting of your bite before whispering inside your mouth- eyes glazed, “Move that hand, baby.”
You didn’t move your hand but he did it for you. He grabbed your wrist and trapped it above your head as he drilled into you. Your mind was mush the more he thrusted into you so you didn’t even try to think straight. Cameron was so caught up in the moment - not just from the heat of your pussy but how tight and how creamy you were.
Letting out a string of swears, Cameron captured them by bringing your mouth into another overwhelming kiss. His cock aching whilst he swallowed your wails as you twitched and ached around him.
Until you couldn’t take it anymore. Cam gave another harsh yet hard roll of his hips into your swollen opening while he was battering at that tender spot inside of you and then … you were coming.
And fuck! You were coming, hard. Your nails clawed at Cam’s rigged muscles as a swarm of stars completely eclipsed your vision whilst your body went into shock with wave after wave of vicious pleasure.
Your wails were so loud, you struggled to recognise your voice. But Cameron had a clear view to the ecstasy flooding your face he pumped his hips forward, pushing himself deeper into your body. Filthy words of praise and encouragement directly in your ear, prolonging your orgasm.
“That’s it, babygirl … I love the way you’re cumming all over me…”
Tears spilled from your eyes and you were close to passing out when Cam dropped his head into your chest and took one of your swollen nipples into his mouth, his thrusts slowing down in tempo as he shot his cum deep inside of your heat with a muffled groan.
He filled you up to the brim and then popped out your nipple out of his mouth with a satisfied sigh.
The both of you were riddled with tiredness, thighs were killing you, and your body was trembling like a leaf but a grin had etched onto your lips regardless as Cameron placed calming kisses everywhere his lips could touch.
He slowly pulled out, warm yet concerned eyes checking over you for any sign of discomfort as you basked in the glow of the aftermath. Your eyes closed as you sank into the softness of the blankets beneath you. You left his kisses on your cheeks in the tender way that you’d grown accustomed to.
“You okay sweet girl? I didn’t hurt you did I?”
“No, baby. I’m good.” You shook your head as you hummed in satisfaction. You felt him shift away from the bed, leaving you in your peaceful lonesome until you felt him wipe you down gently with a wet towel. You heard a thud as he tossed to rag onto on the floor when he was done.
You felt the bed dip beside you before Cameron slipped up behind you. Your hands reached behind you and brought him closer with a soft hum. You had crossed that line in your friendship and you couldn’t process what it meant for the future for the both of you. But you’d bask in whatever this moment meant for you.
Cameron nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck. “We’ll never just be friends after this.” He mumbled.
He was right about that. Nothing would ever be the same.
Elias “Stack” Moore x black reader; + surprise ending.
Summary: You love Elias. Your Elias. When you catch him in the act of betraying you, you decide to move on. Only…Stack isn’t so ready to let you go, but someone else already has their sights set on you.
Warning(s): cheating, violence (not towards reader), smut (18+ only, mdni)
(Author’s note: My first time writing a complete smut scene—go easy on me lol. I’ve had this idea on my mind for ages, so I was like let me go ahead and write while inspiration is here. Let me know what y’all think!🫶🏽)
You loved Stack.
You really did. You loved him more than you’ve loved any man walking on this Earth. He made you feel things—excitement, danger, adventure. Each day with him was like discovering some new hidden gem, and you were addicted to the feeling.
He was charming. Granted, that was one of the first things that set off alarm bells for you. Your grandmama had always told you to watch out for those charming, sly mouth men.
“They’ll talk you right on out ya’ panties if you ain’t too careful. Next thing you know, you sitting there with a baby while he’s warmin’ the next woman’s bed.”
Unfortunately, you hadn’t heeded your grandmama’s warnings and you ended right up in bed with the same man that she warned you about. But you loved Elias. That was another thing, you never called him Stack. He was so insistent on people calling him Stack, but you never would.
You remember the first time that he introduced himself, all dressed in swagger and sin. “Name’s Stack, sugar. And what might I call you?”
You remembering frowning at him in displeasure, “Your mama named you Stack?”
Stack had smiled at you that day. That gold grill glimmering in the sunlight and practically begging you to give in. “Naw, my mama named me Elias, but everyone else ‘round here calls me Stack.”
“Well I’m not everybody else, so I’ll call you Elias, just like God and ya mama intended.”
From that day forward, he was Elias. Your Elias. You had allowed yourself to be sucked in more when it came to Stack’s world. You were completely and utterly entranced by him. The crazy thing was, Stack seemed to have that effect on lots of people. You would watch as women swooned at his feet, hoping for a chance to get with it. Hell, even men wanted a piece of your man.
Which was another thing. You and Stack had never actually put a title on things. It was just kind of an unspoken agreement that he was yours and you were his. He’d always hold you close whenever you were in public, which automatically let people know that you were with him, but he had never gone as far as calling you “his lady.”
You loved Stack.
You really did.
But he liked to play games. It was an annoyance to yourself and his twin brother, Smoke. You had met Smoke a month into your little situationship with Stack. With Smoke….he scared you a little. His quiet disposition was enough to throw anybody off, but the more you were able to spend time around him, the more you grew to like him.
On the other hand, Smoke liked you too. He thought you were a smart woman with a good head on your shoulders, which is why he couldn’t understand why you were wasting your time on his brother.
He knew that Stack didn’t have any serious plans of settling down with you, and he also knew that Stack didn’t have any plans of telling you that. His twin could often be so careless when it came to women.
Apart of you suspected that Elias wasn’t as serious about your relationship like you were. You wanted to believe that he was being faithful, but without that title and reassurance, it was all just smoke and mirrors.
You should’ve known that something was going on. Your intuition practically screamed at you to wake up. The late nights. The phone being flipped over. Coming home late smellin’ of perfume that you knew that you didn’t wear.
Your man had been creepin’ but you didn’t have any solid evidence to back it up.
Well not at first….not until recently.
It was a hot, humid day in the Mississippi Delta. You had just got off from a long day at work and you decided to surprise Elias with a home cooked meal and maybe….dessert after. Arriving at the house that he and Smoke shared, you had gotten out of your own car and walked to the porch. You saw Elias’s car parked in the yard, so you knew he was home. Plus, you were often privy to the details of his schedule.
You used the spare key that was under the potted plant that Smoke was keeping alive. Letting yourself into the house, you were greeted with a wave of cold air from the air conditioner. You set the bags of groceries on the counter and walked through the house.
Walking down the hallway, you passed by Smoke’s closed bedroom door. You had never seen the inside of his room, but you always imagined that it was very minimalist and sterile. Smoke was the strict twin, and you figured that he held that same rigid regimen in all other areas of his life, including his bedroom.
You walked further down the hallway until you were standing in front of Elias’s bedroom door. You were about to knock and call out his name until you heard the sounds of his bed creaking and subtly slamming against the wall.
That sound was ingrained in your head from the numerous times when you and Elias would make love here.
You heard the pleasured moans of a woman combined with Stack’s own groans of pleasure.
Slowly, your hand moved to the doorknob and twisted. You opened the door and felt a rise of bile in your throat. It burned like fresh acid. The sight you were greeted with was Elias thrusting away in between the legs of a pale woman.
You recognized her as Mary.
The same Mary that you knew was a married woman. The same woman that Stack had told you not to worry about.
Both of their bodies were drenched in sweat, which let you know that their copulation had been going on for a while. Mary, who’s head was thrown back in pleasure, suddenly looked towards your direction and gasped.
“Stack.” She said, worry filling her voice.
Stack stopped his movements and looked back and locked eyes with you. He even had the nerve to look guilty. You were the tears stinging at your eyes, but you refused to let them fall. Red hot anger consumed your being and for a second, you thought that you might snap.
However, your body moved and you turned on your heel to exit the room. Walking quickly up the hallway, you grabbed your keys and made your way out the door. You heard Stack’s rushed footsteps behind you, but you were hellbent on leaving.
You were greeted with the Mississippi sun beating down on your skin again.
“Baby wait.” You heard Stack saying, but your footsteps never faltered. Another car pulled up in the driveway, which you knew was Smoke’s. He quickly exited his car upon seeing Stack running behind you.
As you reached your car door, you felt Stack grasp your wrist in an attempt to stop you. You don’t remember exactly how it happened, but it all happened so quickly. One minute, you were facing your car and the next, your fist was meeting Stack’s nose.
The man let out a yelp of pain as your knuckles met the bridge of his nose. Blood quickly shot out of the orifice, and you felt pain radiate through your hand.
You didn’t even realize that tears had began streaming down your face. You weren’t sure if it was from the cheating or punching Stack—but you were leaning heavily to the former.
A pair of gentle hands grabbed your wounded hand and you looked into Smoke’s eyes. The other man’s eyes held a lot of sadness and empathy for you.
Your rage overcame you again and you snatched your hand away from him. Getting into your car, you quickly reversed and maneuvered out of the yard. Before you could speed off, you gripped tightly at the necklace, which had been a gift from Stack, and roughly ripped it from around your neck.
Letting down the passenger window, you chucked the necklace back into the yard before speeding off. You didn’t care about getting a ticket for speeding, you just needed to get far away from the Moore twins.

In the South, your business is never really private or sacred. Oh no, word gets around faster than a preacher giving a sermon on Easter Sunday.
Word travelled fast throughout your town about Stack’s infidelity with a married woman, nonetheless. My Lord, the older women in town clutched at their pearls upon hearing the news.
At work, many of your coworkers gave you looks of sympathy.
“Bless her heart. Po’girl. She know better than goin’ and gettin’ with that Moore boy. He always been trouble.”
“Girl, I heard she found him with that white girl. You know her, Carol Johnson’s daughter….that’s the one!!”
“Mmm..mmm…mm! That’s a crying shame! I heard they had to call the police cause Mary’s husband was acting up somethin’ awful. You know him and his daddy own that general sto’ down by Mill Creek. I heard them boys was clowin’ him, and they had to stop him from goin’ to beat the girl!”
“My boy, Bobby Lee, said he saw Stack walkin’ round with his nose all bandaged. You don’t reckon Mary’s husband paid him a visit?”
“No girl! That lil’ girl in there whacked him somethin’ awful. That’s why her hands all bruised up.”
“Mmm mmm mmm…..Bless her heart.”
Despite the fact that you heard everyone whispering and muttering around you, you never said a word. You kept things going, business as usual. In fact, on the outside, it appeared like nothing had ever happened. But on the inside, you were an absolute wreck.
When you had got home that day, you had broken down, harder than you ever have before. Sobs tore through your body and you swore that you experienced a moment of hysteria.
You had tore through everything in your house that had Stack’s signature on it. His clothes that he left were torn up and ripped to shreds. Those gifts and teddy bears won at carnivals had met your sudden female rage. Pictures of you together were ripped apart.
You didn’t know what had overcome you, but you found yourself throwing all of the things–his things–in a pile and setting fire to it. As you watched the fire consume the remnants of your relationship, you found one of his cigars that he liked to smoke. Cuban blend.
Lighting the cigar with a match, you placed it to your mouth and took a drag. Bitter smoke filled your lungs and you welcomed the pain. You sat back in your lawn chair and watched it all burn. If anybody were to find you, they would absolutely believe that you had lost your mind.
And maybe you did.
But for now, you’d smoke this cigar and pick up the ashes later.

Two weeks later, you waltzed your pretty self into the office like nothing that happened. It was almost scary to your coworkers how good you looked.
You were pristine, like a carefully crafted china doll. Still everyone maneuvered around you like they were scared of you breaking.
During your lunch break, you had decided to take a walk and go pick up lunch from Annie’s Cafe. The woman greeted you and looked you up and down.
“My..my…you sho’ll look good sugar.” Annie said. She made you do a little turn for her, “You even still got some booty back there.”
The two of you laughed, as she packed your lunch. The doorbell jingled and the air shifted around you. You knew that it meant that Stack was here. You saw Smoke walking next to him and both men passed by you. You could tell the other patrons were waiting with held breaths to see if you would acknowledge Stack.
As Stack passed by you, a part of him longed to reach out and talk to you. Smoke grabbed him before he could approach you and subtly shook his head. Now was definitely not the time, especially with all these eyes watching.
You grabbed your plate from Annie and thanked her. You waltzed out the door without sparing a single glance at Stack.
That was the part that hurt him the most.
___________________
It started off small, and increased in grandiose. With Stack, he never knew how to do things small.
He was sending small gifts to your office. Bouquets of your favorite flowers. Your favorite candy. Teddy bears. Next, it was jewelry. Cartier bracelets. Tennis necklaces. Expensive heels and purses.
All which ended up right back on his and Smoke’s front porch. Even the small cards that he had wrote notes on went unopened.
He had started calling your office, only to be met with your receptionist, “I’m sorry Mr. Moore, she can’t come to the phone now, but I can take a message.”
Even with him popping up at your job, he was being denied entrance. He had tried his luck at calling you, only to find out that you had blocked his number and all of his social media.
He had tried the ole method of just popping up at your house, but you always left him knocking at the door.
You had gone complete ghost.
Your presence had become so scarce that Stack would’ve believed that you were gone had it not been for the numerous whispers of people seeing you around town.
He just wanted to talk to you. To make it all better. To tell you that he was sorry and that he loved you. That the sex with Mary meant nothing.
But you had cut the man out of your life. Even Smoke was refusing to help him.
“Now why would I help you after the mess you pulled? Her breaking your nose wasn’t answer enough that she don’t wanna talk to you?”
But still, Stack was insistent on winning you back.
_________________
A month later, people around town noticed a change in you. They couldn’t quite put a finger on it, bug they chalked it up to you being healed from the mess with Stack.
You were like a brand new woman. If it was possible, it looked like you had gotten even more beautiful. Maybe you had gotten some of that hoodoo from Annie.
Looking good was an understatement.
You walked with a new swagger in your step. You had gotten thicker and curvier in all the areas that mattered. Skin was glowing. Word spread through the town like a wildfire.
“She been looking good girl! I’m talkin’ booty and titties been sittin’ nice. You don’t think she got them done?”
“Naw girl! That’s all homegrown right there!”
“I heard that she may be seeing a new man. Cheryl said that some mystery man been sending her flowers and lunch.”
“You don’t think it’s Stack, do you?”
“Can’t be Stack. Word is, he been still trynna get back with her.”
“Well whoever it is, they got her glowing.”
Stack wasn’t a fool. He knew that women tended to glow up after a breakup. However, he couldn’t help but get a little bitter upon hearing rumors of you having a new nigga. How had you moved on so fast from him?
Sure, he messed up and he was fully owning up to it, but he wasn’t expecting another man to swoop in and steal you. He tried to get info from the neighborhood gossips, but nobody had seen sight of your new mystery beau.
Stack started to doubt that the mystery man was real, but his suspicions were confirmed. It happened on a random Wednesday when he saw you walking into a clothing store. He followed you into the store, figuring that this was finally his chance to talk to you.
He found you browsing in the lingerie section. He saw you admiring a midnight blue lace two piece with garters.
“That’d look real nice on your skin.” He said.
You looked over to him, blankly. You turned and continued to browse through the pieces. He opened his mouth to try to make another joke, “Stack, I don’t have time for your jokes. I’d rather you not talk to me at all.”
He stopped and stared at you. You never called him Stack. He was always Elias to you. He swallowed the lump that was forming in his throat.
He leaned forward and caught sight of a purple bruise on your collarbone. He quickly turned you to him and examined the mark closer. He felt fury enter his chest, “It ain’t been nothin’ but a month, and you already openin’ yo’ legs for another nigga?!”
A sharp sting crossed his cheek until his brain processed that you had slapped him. You stepped closer to him and lowered your voice, “You think you get to question who I’m spreading my legs for? You lost that right when I caught you with your dick in another woman’s snatch! You wanna play the jealous boyfriend? Miss me with that, Stack. You lost that right when you betrayed me. And I’ll make sure that I let my new man break my back in a little harder tonight, so you can get it through your head that you and I are no longer an item.”
With one last cold look, you turned and made your way to the counter—with that midnight blue set in your hand.
Stack was left standing there, heartbroken and humiliated.

Stack needed to get out of town for the weekend. He had packed an overnight bag and let his brother know that he’d be gone for the weekend.
Smoke regarded him simply and told him to stay safe. On the drive away, Stack reflected.
Really sat and reflected. On everything.
He thought about you. How you were always there to hold him down. He thought on the tender moments shared between the two of you. He loves you. He really does. He just had a habit of sabotaging good things in his life. He was always the more impulsive one between himself and Smoke.
Even growing up, he was always the one getting in trouble. Smoke would often take a lot of the punishment meant for Stack to keep him safe. He knew how their father’s temper could get.
He thought about the scars that littered his body from their father’s anger. He remembered the moments where you would be laying beside him, and you would take special care to kiss each and every scar.
You’d make sure that none of them were neglected. You would whisper affirmations of love to Stack, and remind him that he was worthy of love.
God, you were so patient with him. And how did he repay you? By cheating with the one woman that he always told you not to worry about.
He would use this time to reflect.
Maybe he could try again to win you back.

A day later, Stack was traveling back to his and Smoke’s house. He had done his reflecting and he decided to cut his little weekend getaway short.
Pulling up into the yard, he parked behind Smoke’s car. All of the lights were off in the house so he assumed that Smoke was sleeping.
The illumination from the moon was the only source of light.
Stack unlocked the door and dropped his bag on the floor. He pulled a bottle of water from the fridge and sipped on it. He made the journey back to his room, until he noticed that Smoke’s door was slightly open.
Stack would’ve kept walking, but the sounds of moans and feminine gasps caught his attention. Tentatively, he crept closer to the closer, making sure to keep his footsteps lights. He peered through the door. He wasn’t able to see clearly through the door, but the moonlight assisted in seeing the outline of Smoke’s body.
Truthfully, there was a slightly curious and perverted part of Stack that wanted to know what Smoke looked like when he was having sex. He and Smoke were mirrors of each other, so in a way, it was like he would be watching himself.
He and Smoke often didn’t talk about their sexual exploits. Even when Smoke lost his virginity, he wouldn’t give any details to Stack. Whereas, Stack, was like a leaking faucet with sharing his story with Smoke.
Even as they grew, Smoke wouldn’t share that information with him. Smoke rarely brought women to the house, so for him to have a woman in there now, meant that he really liked her.
Stack had to hear second-hand accounts from women in town about what an amazing lover that Smoke was. He remembered being in the club and passing by two women. The beautiful dark skinned woman was talking to her friend, “Girl yes. I’m telling you, I know Smoke is the quiet one, but that quiet act is all a front. That man had me seeing stars. I was crying through at one point from all that pleasure and he talked me through it. I’m sure my toes was in there doing gang signs.”
The other woman laughed loudly.
Stack peered closer and was able to see Smoke’s head between the mystery woman’s legs. The woman had her back arched off the bed and she rolling her hips against Smoke’s mouth. Stack could see her hands clasping tightly at Smoke’s head. In return, Smoke threw his arm across her waist to hold her still. His head moved deeper in her core and her moans pitched higher.
“Right there baby..” she moaned before she let out a high pitched squeal. Smoke continued to move his head and helped her ride her high out.
Moving his head from her core, he moved his head up until him and the women were kissing.
“You taste how you sweet you are.” Smoke’s voice rang out in the room.
Smoke rose and picked the woman up in his arms. Immediately, the woman wrapped her limbs around him. Stack could see her kissing and biting at Smoke’s neck. Smoke set the dresser across the room and moved her body closer to the edge.
Stack could see Smoke start to stroke his length and heard a sharp gasp in the room. He assumed that Smoke was now entering her. The woman looped her arms around Smoke’s neck as the man began to thrust between her thighs. Loud pleasured cries filled the room along with smacking of skin against skin.
“Harder baby,” the woman pleaded to Smoke.
Smoke, ever the soldier, obeyed the woman’s request and placed her legs in the crook of his arms. The items on the dresser clattered loudly as Smoke delivered harsh thrusts to the woman. The woman’s moans intensified and she appeared to be matching Smoke in his movements. The woman’s nails raked roughly down Smoke’s back, which seemed to spur him on.
Smoke’s groans echoed through the room.
Stack felt his throat drying and swallowed deeply at free show that he was witnessing.
There was something that unsettled him, the moans and cries sounded vaguely familiar to him.
He looked back at Smoke and the mystery women, who had her forehead placed on Smoke’s. The two lovers appeared to be holding eye contact while their bodies bounced against each other. Wet squelches added to the ambiance of the room.
Suddenly the woman spoke, “I want you to cum inside of me, Elijah.”
Stack froze.
He knew that voice. He peered at the mirror, hoping to catch a glimpse of the woman’s reflection. He pushed the door open slightly and the sliver of moonlight finally shone on the woman’s face.
Stack felt his whole world crash down as he saw your face. Your pleasured and ruined face.
Suddenly, you let out a long moan, which Stack was familiar with. It was that same moan that always told him that you were cumming. Smoke followed behind you and let out a long groan. He held your body closer to his, no doubt spilling his release inside of you as you had asked for.
You moved your head to Smoke’s ear, “It’s all yours, daddy.”
You lifted your head and locked eyes directly with Stack.
summary: Rue has worked for years to forget Elijah Moore and what he left her with before he ran to Chicago. But when she sees his ambitious twin in the square, all of their history comes rushing back. (3.1k)
a/n: it has been so long, but Sinners is truly a movie in its own category. i also need to preface that i am black for this story. anyway, as always, ur interaction is greatly appreciated, ily<3
warnings: swearing, n word use (by smoke and stack), mentions of child loss, abortion, sex, racism
in this story, our characters name is: Rue
Elijah Moore and I never had a complicated relationship. Hell, Smoke might even say we had none at all. But for years after he ravaged me in that car outside of the bar, I thought about him every night. We were together, I’d say — Boyfriend and girlfriend for as long as his grief consumed him. But the moment Annie found out, Smoke disappeared from my arms and was at her feet, begging for forgiveness. I don’t blame her, not in the slightest — I can only imagine that those were some of their darkest times.
Elias, on the other hand, him and I had a complicated relationship. When I found out that Smoke left a piece of himself in me, there was no way I could tell him, not after what he’d just been through. So I went to the closest thing to him, Stack. And although what we had is never to be considered romantic, there was something there — Familial, even. He knew it, Mary knew it, and for that very reason I was never allowed within an 100 foot radius of the twins until the day they left, not if I wanted to feel welcome.

📍 Train Station || 12:00pm
The feelings from all those years ago bubble up inside me and form a twist in my gut when I see that all-too-recognizable burgundy top hat. My feet move before my mind can stop them, and in no time I’m approaching my old friend.
Stack flashes a gold toothed smile. “I’ll be damned.”
I return the nicety, pulling him in for a warm hug.
“Word spreads fast,” I nod. “Y’all still got the same appeal you had all them years ago.”
“You don’t have to tell me that, darling. I know it.” His cocky smile takes me back, the only thing differentiating him from his brother being his energy.
“Do I even want to know why you came back?”
“You heard it as good as I did." He gestures toward little Preacher Boy and the old man. “We’re opening a Juke Joint tonight, right there down at the old mill.”
“Y’all never could stay still. Chicago wasn’t change enough for you?”
He shrugs. “Figured we should deal with a devil we know. Besides, we miss the tricking.”
“Mmm,” I hum. “Well if Miss Pearline back there is singing, I might just pay this Joint a visit.”
Stack looks past me and at the polka dottted woman walking away from Preacher Boy.
“Shit, if that’s what it takes for you to come, it’s done.”
Always so charming.
He ogles me, his eyes scanning up and down my exposed arms.
“What’s this?” Stack rubs his fingers over the dark ink lining my skin — Art ranging from numbers to symbols to simple symmetric images.
“You know I’m an artist, boy.” I pull my arm back, scoffing. “Figured I’d get a few permanent ones to remember a few things.”
“And you talking about we couldn’t stay still. I’ll be visiting to get a look at those paintings of yours one of these days.” Stack’s grin begins to fade as he looks over my shoulder.
Preacher Boy walks up and nears his cousin. “This white woman’s been staring at you—“
“Yea, I see her…”
He shoos Sammie away and tries to walk me off, but I’m already well aware of what shark is in the water — I can hear her heels clicking behind me.
“Now is this Smoke? Or is that Stack?”
I turn my head. “Hi, Mary.”
No response. Only a rough shoulder check as she stands in front of me and nears Stack.
He looks over her head and at me. “I’ll holler at you, Rue—“
Mary interrupts. “No, you’re not talking to fucking Rue right now. You’re talking to me.”
Stack huffs, looking back down at the woman dressed in pink. I give him a ‘have fun dealing with that’ look before turning and catching my train.
Of all the women wrapped around the twins’ fingers, Mary has got to be the most spiteful of them all. For no good reason, though. Contrary to her belief, I never once slept with Stack, never even thought of it. But as far as she knows, I kissed him all the way to where the sun don’t shine, and then some.

📍 Juke Joint || 10:00pm
This old mill has lit up under the construction of the twins. People hoot and holler as Pearline ignites the stage, turning into the musical beast I knew she would the minute she started singing. Having no dance partner, I simply clap along, moving my body to the beat alone. Out of the corner of my eye, I see the same damn burgundy hat that I saw only hours ago.
I can feel Annie’s eyes burning holes into my skull as I sit at the bar, Stack walking up to me.
“Now who the hell did y’all rob to afford this place? Ain’t this being sold from the Klan?” I shout across the bar, my voice being drowned out by Pearline’s Pale, Pale Moon.
Stack shakes his head. “Not Klan, just crackers. You know we got money, girl. Don’t do that.”
“Yea, well blood money don’t count. So how much you got now?”
He pulls his pockets inside out, amusing me.
I chuckle, placing my money on the bar. “Y’all have blackberry bourbon smash?”
“I don’t know if I can do that for you…”
His fake frown quickly turns into a grin as he takes the money, relaying my order to Grace.
“Fancy motherfuckers,” I mumble.
“What was that?” Stack eggs me on.
My eyes scan the bar, but all I can focus on is that hateful scowl on Annie’s face.
“I said all these women hate me.”
Stack scoffs. “Only those particular women.”
That’s more than enough for me I think.
He leans in, his lips grazing my ear.
“You know none of these girls got shit on you, Rue. They ain’t half as strong either.”
A small smile grows on my face, matching Stacks. He goes to hand me back my cash, but I slide it back to him.
“I don’t need it,” I front.
“Yea? Well me neither. So you gon’ fucking take it.”
I roll my eyes, pocketing the change and standing with my drink. I’ve barely made it away from the bar when cigarette smoke cascades from over my head. Instinctively looking up, I finally see him.
Smoke stares down at me from the balcony with that hard expression he always wears. It’s so strange, seeing that rock solid glare. When we first met in a dingy bar on the side of a dirt Mississippi road, he hung his head low and seemed to always have glossy eyes. I didn’t believe him when he told me he was Smoke. When he fucked me that night, and many a nights after that, it was slowly — With passion, and often tears followed the act. But now his eyes are as dry as a dessert and they pierce a hole through mine.
He takes another blow of his cigarette before turning his back to me, retreating into a room. I have no choice but to follow him, even if it’s just to get yelled at to go away as he did the last time we met. I take my time, downing my glass of bourbon as I walk up the stairs. I can’t pinpoint exactly why, but my heart thumps in my chest just before I open the door, all of the thoughts of what we could’ve had rushing back to my mind like they did eight years ago.
I enter the dimly lit room, closing the door behind me and leaning on it.
“Hi, Smoke,” I say lowly, unable to read his face.
“Why you here, Rue?” he grumbles, a roughness to his voice. “I’m already stressed the fuck out with this opening shit. Stack ain’t helping.”
“I don’t want no trouble. Just came for the music.”
“You being here is plenty trouble enough.” He scans my body the same as his brother, blowing his cigarette again. “You can’t find music no place else?”
“You want me to leave?” I ask honestly.
“Yea, I want you to leave. You think those women down there want you to leave too or are we acting stupid tonight?”
“They never even tried to like me, Smoke,” I sigh, my legs bringing me closer to him. I place my hand on his bicep, like I did all those years ago. “They got no idea what we had.”
He puts his hand on mine, pulling it off. “That was a moment of weakness, Rue. Whatever you think we had is gone now."
I blink to avoid tears from forming. My first ever love, my first ever relationship being chalked up to a moment of weakness chips away at my heart. If it’s what he has to tell himself to dig out of the deep guilt he feels, so be it. But he won’t sit in front of me and act like what we had wasn’t real — Like it isn’t still there.
“So you're saying if the Juke was going good and Annie wasn't watching you like a hawk that you wouldn't entertain me? Wouldn’t consider us?"
Smoke shakes his head. “No, I really wouldn’t.” His brows furrow as he looks at me, seeming to remember a detail that he had previously forgotten. “And your cheating ass can take your business elsewhere.”
I can’t act surprised, not anymore. We allowed him to believe my infidelity as truth, Stack and I. Letting him think I went after his brother was easier than letting him know what Stack was really helping me do…At least it was in the moment. But as he stands in front of me now, I want nothing more than to ease his pain, calm his anger, and tell him the truth — Even if solely to stop him from loathing me so greatly.
“I didn’t cheat on you, Smoke.”
“Bullshit,” he stops me.
“No, listen.” I step toward him. “I respected what you and Annie had, Smoke. I really did. And I understood that the loss of your baby caused you to make decisions that you might regret, even if that decision was being with me. So when you told me to leave you alone, I did. But I didn’t know if that still stood when I found out that we had a baby…”
The words feel odd coming out of my mouth. I tried so hard at the time to disconnect myself from it, calling the baby a thing inside my stomach rather than what it was: Mine and Smoke’s child.
His brows have smoothened out now and he’s actively listening, his eyes flashing from my face to my stomach and back to my face.
I continue. “I didn’t visit Stack all those nights to get at him. Smoke, I never wanted anybody but you. But God put it on my heart to give you and Annie peace, so we went at it alone. No one knew. He paid a few women to make the drink without telling them who it was for. It only took a few hours for the bleeding to start…”
My voice trails out. I’m unable to finish as flashbacks to that night replay in my head. My mama held me tighter that night than she ever had before…I hated Smoke that night more than I ever had before.
Tears line his eyes now.
He chokes on his words, his voice now much lower. “Don’t you lie to me, Rue…”
“I wouldn’t lie, baby,” I assure him.
I hold my arm out for him, revealing the tiny footprint tattooed on my wrist, a small E underneath it.
“We couldn’t be sure, but I had a feeling it was a boy. Ezra, I was thinking. Stack hated the name but…” I shrug.
Smoke runs his thumb over the tattoo, holding my hand in his. He attempts to discreetly wipe his tears, but I see them all the same. Looking up at him, his face can only be compared to the face he made when we spoke about his late baby, which wasn’t often at all. A mix of anger, sorrow, and fear.
Perhaps he’s considering what could have been, just like I used to — Just like I still do. I used to curse God for putting me in such a position. A second chance for Smoke to be a father, but at the worst of times. I’d have dreams of talking to a clone of myself, telling her that she owed it to Smoke to tell him about the baby. It’s only now that I really see the consequences of my decision.
Smoke looks at me, and then at the door. It’s as if a switch has flipped and he’s forced all of those emotions to turn into one…anger. He reaches for the door, but I lean against it.
“Smoke, it’s already done,” I tell him, holding my hand against his chest. “I just couldn’t take you hating me no more.”
“Move out the way, Rue,” he says, not hearing a word I say.
“I don’t want to cause a scene. Please.”
“You think I give a fuck about causing a scene? Move out of the fucking way.”
“Smoke, it hurts enough as it is—“
“You’ve got one more time, woman.”
“There’s nothing we can do now!”
He wraps a hand around my arm, yanking me just enough to pull me away from the door and swinging it open. I run out behind him, but he’s already looking down the overlook.
“STACK!” he shouts down, the name echoing through the building.
Everybody looks up, including Mary and Annie. Stack stares up at us, blowing smoke through his nose, before turning back to the crowd. He tells them to resume, nudging Sammie to keep playing. After a moment of silence and a few stray whispers, the music begins again and Pearline starts her singing. Mary holds Stack close, asking him not to go — But as always, the twins do what they want when they want. As Stack rounds the corner, I retreat back into the room, unprepared for what reaction he might have.
He’s barely entered before Smoke pins him against the wall, his forearm over Stack’s chest.
“The fuck?”
“Is it true?” Smoke demands, maintaning his cig in his pinning hand.
I close the door, shouting over the music. “Smoke, stop!”
He ignores me, continuing to press his brother. “Un-uh, I asked you a question, nigga. Did you know she had my baby?”
Stack’s eyes shoot from Smoke to me. I can only nod, giving him permission to tell the full truth as I just did. Stack relaxes, putting his hands up.
“I only did it to protect you, mane.”
“The fuck does that mean?”
“You gon’ let me go so I can explain?”
Smoke lingers before reluctantly letting his brother go with a shove. He puts a hand in his pocket, staring Stack down.
He gestures his cig at his brother. “Talk.”
Stack smoothens his suit, lighting one of his own. “You know I don’t like that shit, Smoke—”
“Talk.”
He sighs, putting on a smile once more as he tries to explain calmly.
“When y’all two broke shit off we didn't know we were even going to Chicago, Smoke. Shit, I still thought you and Annie were gonna get married and buy you a house. Rue said you told her to stay away to make that happen, so I helped her stay away. Now we both know she’d never forgive you if you had a baby with another woman.”
“But my baby is none of your fucking business.”
“I was trying to give you a life, nigga,” Stack urges. “Annie is where that life was at. Fuck I look like throwing Rue back at you when you didn’t want her?”
“My baby, Stack.”
Guilt boils inside of me. I never allowed myself to entertain the idea of keeping the baby. There was no way I’d bring him into this world without a father, and Smoke had Annie, so I thought I had no choice. But seeing him blink back his tears now makes me second guess every moment that the baby was inside of me.
Stack thinks carefully about his next words, his smile having faded as he sees how serious his brother is taking this.
“I’m sorry, man,” he shrugs, his tone softer now. “I did what I thought was safest for all y'all, you hear me?”
Smoke is about to speak when a hard knock pounds the door.
“Stack?” Mary’s familiar voice rings out from the other side.
“Now I gotta get back to the Joint.”
I hold my head low. “Bye, Stack.”
He heads toward the door, but not before turning to his brother one more time.
“We good?”
Smoke looks from me to Stack, giving him a small nod.
“Get out of here ‘fore I say no.”
Stack only smiles, swinging the door open. I stand beside him, greeting Mary.
“Oh my— Not this trifling bitch again, Stack.” She rolls her eyes.
“Come on. Lay off, Mary.”
“I think you owe her a goddamn apology,” Smoke intervenes, standing behind me.
I mumble, “it’s fine, Smoke.”
Mary scoffs. “For the fuck what?”
“For how you been treating her all these years.”
“How I’ve been treating her? You’re the one who fucked her for a month before running back to Annie.”
“You best watch your mouth, Mary.” He blows smoke toward her. “It’s not too late to pay one of them bitches downstairs to drag your ass out.”
“I’d like to see you try, Smoke—“
“Alright,” Stack interrupts. “Let’s go.”
He pushes Mary away before closing the door behind him. I assume my previous position, leaning against the door — a much thicker tension in the air now.
“If you hate me even more after this, I understand.” I break the silence. “I don’t blame you. I just couldn’t let the truth belong to me and him alone anymore.”
Smoke stares at his feet, deep in thought. It’s become increasingly harder to tell what this man is thinking. He drops his cigarette, stepping on it.
“Now why would you do that on these new floors-“
His lips are on mine before I can finish, his hungry hands pulling up my dress. It’s automatic, the way my arm wraps around his neck, my hand nearing his crotch. He begins kissing down my neck, but I pull away. He stares at me, eyes wide.
“This isn’t a moment of weakness, is it?” I ask.
He shakes his head. “I don’t need a moment of weakness to do what I’m about to do to you.”
I smile, bringing his lips to mine once more.
Annie will hate me if she finds out, she might hate Smoke even more. But like I told him before, she has no idea what we have. And if I want to fuck my sinner one last time in this Juke Joint, that’s exactly what I’ll do.

Your hair was starting to cling onto your forehead as if you were drenched in sticky molasses.
The air was humid and dry; of course, this was a Mississippi custom, but it doesn’t help that there’s dozens of bodies stomping and prancing around.
Though you can’t complain much, considering that you were right here with them—dancing as if you hadn’t in years.
In a way, you haven't. You haven’t felt a rush of autonomy and euphoria quite like this before.
With everyone being nothing but working busy-bodies, there’s been little to no time to plan big events such as tonight. The lack of excitement has been a major factor too.
Hence why as soon as the Moore twins came back into town with the intention to open up their very own juke joint, everyone was on board.
The pair hadn’t been seen here in seven years.
Seven long, cruel years without the twin you’ve grown to love.
Stack.
Well, he was Stack to everyone else. But to you? He was still Elias. Your ‘Lias.
Seven years without his lingering touches and pearly smiles.
You weren’t the only one that missed him, it seems.
Your sister told you that when she went down near the train station, she was right there waiting for your Elias.
Mary was waiting.
You don’t have a clue as to how she knew he was coming home before you did, considering that nobody from the Delta had heard from him except for you. And a letter from him was rather rare.
Mary had nearly thrown a fit once she saw him; it didn’t help that Elias had turned down her persistent advances.
The lack of contact obviously sent her over the edge.
Apparently she mentioned their former relations; their connection being a secret to none.
You were envious of this; never jealous, but overcome by a feeling of want.
Growing up with the twins meant that the three of you were as close as can be. That being said, though, they looked at you as if you were their little sister. It was fine when Elijah assumed the role of a family member, but Elias?
Just thinking about it makes your heart ache.
You longed for the flirtatious remarks that he’d give off to any and every woman, a night filled with intimacy plagued your mind constantly.
But you got over it.
You had to. Not only for the sake of your friendship with Elias, but also because of his prolonged absence from town.
That’s why tonight—right now, you had to pump the breaks and focus on celebrating the twins’ success.
Speaking of success?
You making your way over to the bar with your wobbly heeled-covered feet was a success. Surprisingly.
“Someone’s been dancin’ a lil too hard, huh?” Annie chortles, looking at you with nothing but sisterly-love, and a bit of amusement.
“Only dancin’ I was doing was during my cooking—nothin’ like this in a while,” you exclaim with bliss through a beaming smile. You huff as you sit down in front of the bar. “Y’got anythin’ good back here?” You motion to the bottles Annie has surrounding her.
“Better than good,” Annie replies before ducking down and searching below the counter.
You brace your hands on the counter and slightly peer over at the woman, but then she pops up quicker than you can plop back down onto your chair. She quirks a brow at you before placing a bottle down in front of you.
“What’s this?” You question; if Annie didn’t know any better, she would’ve thought that it was Christmas morning with the way you were looking at the bottle.
“Authentic Irish beer; straight from the north side of Chicago. Different from the rest they’re sellin’.” She replies. “Your man brought it specifically for you—made me promise I wouldn’t give it to nobody else, no matter how much they was payin’.”
You bite back a smile at her words; you knew exactly who she was talking about.
“He fixin’ to be Mary’s.” Your lips straighten, it’s bittersweet.
“That so? ‘Cause that ain’t what I heard,” Annie muses, making you pause. You savor Annie’s words as if they were your holy grail. Was there a chance that Elias looked at you the same as you did him?
You crane your neck and your gaze is set over your shoulder—over at him.
He catches your eye and he gives you a cheeky smile, to which you return rather eagerly.
You hadn’t had a single nonchalant bone in your body it seems.
Your shared staring was cut short as Mary forced Elias’ attention back onto her, but it wasn’t exactly a hard task for her.
Something about her was just so easy and simple, despite the ring shining on her hand that matched another man’s being anything but simple. The way that they connected even after all these years made you feel as if you swallowed a jar of mud.
After a few sips of beer, you can’t help but let a smile rest on your face. Elias knew you’d love it, and it makes your heart dance.
Speaking of dancing, your dearest friend Pearline struts up to you with a grin that soared for miles.
“What’s got you cheesin’ all hard?” You raise your eyebrows at her, making her giggle.
“Y’know the Preacher’s boy? The one that was just singin’?” Pearline’s nearly jumping out of her skin with excitement.
“Lil’ Sammie Moore? Course I do, why? What’d you do Pearl?” You gape at her and hold her hands tightly in yours.
“Well…” She trails off. “Let’s just say, he showed me he ain’t a boy, but a real man.”
Your eyes nearly bulge out of the sockets as you exclaim a Pearline! that could probably be heard for miles.
Pearline gushes, “He made me feel things I ain’t never felt before.”
“Not even with your mister?” You gasp.
“Not even close. And that’s not all,” she pauses before looking around, then leaning in towards you.
“I wasn’t even able to freshen up. He didn’t want me to,” Pearline whispers.
You shout, then look around in embarrassment at your outburst; you shake Pearline vigorously by her shoulders and giggle some more.
You decide to look around the joint, and you coincidentally catch Sammie looking right at the back of Pearline’s frame in utter awe.
You nudge Pearline, and she looks over at him with you. The look that she throws his way is nothing short of flirtatious.
“He looked at ya like he wanted t’take a bite,” you snicker.
Pearline looks at you mischievously, “Funny, considerin’ he already did.” You can’t help but laugh.
“So, y’thinkin’ bout singin’ like he said?” You ask.
Pearline hums, “Maybe. ‘M thinkin’ you should too.”
“No, not happenin’. Not a chance,” You scoff playfully.
Pearline whines and grabs your wrists. “C’mon, sista! When’s the last time you got the chance to do this?” She pouts, and tries hardest to make puppy-dog eyes at you.
“Besides, this could be y’chance to make a move on Stack. Ain't that whatcha been waitin’ for?” She drags.
You falter at the question she poses.
“Tonight’s the night, sista.” Pearline murmurs softly.
It’s crazy how you always get in your head when it comes to him.
The thing is, you weren’t one to throw yourself out there just to entertain a man. No, that just wasn’t your style.
But God—tonight? His suit was fitting snug in all the right places, his grills glimmered dangerously in the dim lighting, and his eyes always found yours, recklessly.
You couldn’t resist Elias Moore.
And right now, you’re starting to wonder if you ever could.
“Y’better wrap that scarf on tight, Pearl,” you say as you grab her arm and start walking with her to the front. Pearline shrills and claps her hands with glee.
You saunter towards the stage with a pep in your step and your arm linked with a perky Pearline. Your heels clack on the wooden floors as you come face-to-face with the band and none other than Delta Slim, who’s now grinning at you.
“Been tryin’ to getcha to sing for years girl, what’s with the change o’ heart?” He questions with a smirk, as if he already knew the answer. You’re sure that he did with the way that his eyes looked past you and towards Elias.
“It’s a nice night, figured I’d try sum different,” you shrug, trying to mask your sudden embarrassment. Pearline intertwines her hand with yours and uses her other one to gesture to the band. You inhale deeply while looking at her; she gives you a look of reassurance.
The patrons of the juke joint grow silent at the sight of you two taking your stances and the band readying their instruments.
Pearline starts humming and you lightly stomp your feet on the stage, starting to form a beat as the band follows.
Elias feels as if his heart was being weighed down by a ton inside of him. He held his breath—scared that the rise and fall of his chest would make him miss the steady view of you: parading around as if everything outside the joint had come to a halt.
You looked completely, and utterly divine up there; moving swiftly and effortlessly, as if you owned the very ground you were stepping on.
You were absolutely ethereal in Elias’ eyes.
And he’d be lying if he said that he wasn’t falling even harder for his sugar as of right now. He was the only man that could get away with calling you sugar; he knows it, so does everyone else in the Delta—and Elias can’t help but let his pride swell every time he thinks about it.
Your body sways carelessly as if you were one with the words that escaped your lips, but your eyes are grounded—powerful, even. Speaking of them: your glittering orbs meet his, your gaze nothing short of a vixen’s.
Though, the interlocking of your sights is interrupted when Mary makes her presence known yet again at Elias’ side. He can’t help but sigh at the intrusion.
Luckily, Elias’ ever-growing agitation fades when the patrons of the juke let out their elation around him. The band’s playing picks up, as well as you and Pearline’s voices.
Don’t let it shine, shine, shine once more
Pale, pale moon, pale, pale moon
Everyone chants and stomps rhythmically.
“I wanna sing, like I hear the crickets do,” Pearline sings seductively while peering at Sammy as she struts.
Pale, pale moon, pale, pale moon
“I wanna hoo,” you and Pearline sing simultaneously, harmonizing beautifully as your backs meet and you both slide to a crouching position.
Pale, pale moon, pale, pale moon
“I wanna howl,” the two of you sound as if you were straight out of a folktale—like one of those myths of the sirens that Annie had explained to Elias once before. You and Pearline then reside in a crawl as you look at the crowd with a sense of hunger in your eyes.
Mary gets ahold of Elias’ tie, but he quickly removes her grip from him—without even breaking eye contact with you. He knows she’s interested in spending the rest of the night with him; maybe in hopes of rekindling an old flame.
But how could Elias be interested in another woman when his woman—his sugar—was looking at him so deliciously.
You grin slyly at him, biting your bottom lip before licking your teeth.
Pale, pale moon, pale, pale moon
“I wanna scream,” Pearline sings, as you mouth the three words to Elias.
Three little words that have Elias fucking mesmerized, hypnotized even. You have him in a trance, right where you want him, and you both know it.
Elias wishfully thinks that the pick up in your breathing isn’t just from all the dancing you’ve been doing tonight. He bites his lip at the thoughts running through his mind.
Mary can’t even say that she recognizes the look that Elias gives you, for she has never been on the receiving end like you have been. Her frustration and jealousy boils over, and she eventually huffs before walking away from Elias, and out of the juke joint.
Elias doesn’t mind one bit, and he sure as hell doesn’t when the song finishes and you hug Pearline with excitement as the joint nearly turns upside down. You’re jumping up and down and Elias can’t help but smile til his cheeks hurt.
Elias feels a hand slap somewhat roughly on his shoulder. He knows good and well it’s his brother, with or without the wave of tobacco radiating.
“Came out here after the game finished, saw the way she was lookin’ at’cha, too.” Elijah grumbles.
“Breathtakin’, ain’t she?” Elias remarks breathily, not even turning to his brother—keeping his sights on you, as you hug Slim and the rest of the instrument players.
“Not ‘bout how I feel, ‘s ‘bout how you feel,” Elijah sighs. This makes Elias turn towards his brother.
“Don’t know what’chu waitin’ on, already been years,” Elijah then pauses before continuing, “Don’t be surprised when somebody see what’chu see.” Elijah trails off, almost ominously, and nods his head in your direction.
Elias follows his twin’s trail of sight and spots you: talking to a man he ain’t even seen before. You were beaming, your hair a little frizzed up by the humidity, your lipgloss smudged a little onto your shimmering skin.
Speaking of your lipgloss—whoever you’re talking to decided to rub his finger below your lip to wipe it away. Right now, Elias’ demeanor resembles the snake him and his brother killed earlier: cold and unmoving.
You glance around the sea of bodies, and Elias takes this as a sign. He starts to walk up to you, but not before having to mumble several ‘excuse me’s while side-stepping quite a few people—who seem to not be able to hold their liquor.
He finally reaches you, and he gets a glimpse of you over the guy’s shoulder, who has no idea he’s even there.
“We got a problem?” Elias murmurs, making the stranger nearly jump out of his skin.
“N-nah man,” the man chuckles awkwardly as he faces Elias.
“I reckon we do, since y’talkin’ to my lady,” Elias replies, sizing him up as he takes a step closer to him. The man takes a step back in return.
“I ain’t know, I-I’m sorry, Stack,” the man trembles meekly. Elias only hums. The man glances between the two of you before making himself scarce.
Elias stays in the same spot for a beat, before turning and giving you a look that says let’s go, before walking towards one of the back rooms of the joint. You hesitate, before inching behind him.
“So I’m y’lady now?” You don’t bother to tone down the sass in your voice.
“‘S what I said, ain’t it?” he mumbles, not even looking at you.
You scoff, “Yeah, well, y’got a funny way a’ showin’ it.”
Elias pulls you into a dimly lit room and finally faces you as you stand before him. “What’s that s’possed to mean?”
You narrow your eyes at him before speaking. “Means I saw you messin’ with ole Mary.”
“She don’t mean nun to me,” Elias guaffs. “Why d’ya think she left already?”
You roll your eyes and begin to head out the door you just came from. You’re not sure where this attitude just came from, in all honesty. The moment your eyes met him while you were on stage, it felt as if everything else had faded away, and it was just the two of you.
Maybe it was the irritation caused by Mary that left you in a sour mood now, you’re not sure. You know it won’t be beneficial to you nor Elias in this moment, but you can’t help it.
Elias grabs your wrist before you can get too far away from him.
“She ain’t nun, y’hear?” If you didn’t know any better, you’d think he almost sounded desperate. You stay quiet.
“Asked you a question, sugar. ‘N with that attitude of yours, I ain’t fixin’ to repeat myself.” His lips ghost the shell of your ear as he speaks, and heat twinges through your stomach. Elias seems to take notice of the subtle switch in your demeanor; he smirks and his chocolate brown irises darken even further.
“I…I don’t believe you,” You almost whisper, but still meet his gaze.
Almost immediately, he responds with, “What I got to do to convince you, baby?” Elias matches your tone, but there’s still a hint of assertiveness conveyed through his words.
You don’t speak—it’s almost like you couldn’t, but you release your wrist from his grasp gently.
Elias’ jaw clenched slightly, but you still spot it. He looks as if he’s pondering his next words.
“‘S not makin’ sense, darlin’. I mean, you were acting like a whore on stage, now you don’t want me to touch you?” He cocks his head at you and your lips part—like it was reflex, and maybe it was. Elias clicks his tongue.
Your breath picks up, and if your mind weren’t turning fuzzy, you would’ve chided yourself for making a fool out of yourself in front of a man—Elias at that.
The man you’ve yearned for longer than you can even remember.
“I ain’t no whore,” you speak, finally regaining your senses.
“That right, sugar?” You can feel Elias’ breath on your heated face, and all you can do is nod in return.
“Y’wanna know what I think?” Before you can answer the question Elias poses, he murmurs lowly, “I think that deep down….You are a whore—and you needa be fucked like one.”
Despite the vulgarity of his words, the way that Elias places his palm across your cheek is soft—loving, even.
You press your thighs together through your dress unconsciously, desperately seeking even an ounce of friction to cool the impending heat between your legs.
Elias takes the hand that rested upon your cheek and moved it to the stiff rim lock that resided on the door’s surface.
Thank god—You’d hate for the likes of someone such as Sammie barging in and being witness to sin hotter than the Mississippi sun.
Elias then starts to walk you back to the table that remained bare in the dingy-lit room, removing his suit jacket and vest, followed by his tie. The backs of your knees meet the edge of the firm table, making you stumble just a bit. Elias takes it upon himself to lay you down onto the table.
You rest on your elbows as you look up at the six-foot-something man in front of you, and you can’t help but swoon. His beating eyes look down at you lustfully—almost as if he were a predator, and you his prey.
It made you weak.
Weak at the hands of a man you’d been waiting on while he had the time of his life in Chicago, with all sorts of Italian customs. Your actions are beyond halfwitted, but you make no effort to straighten yourself out anymore.
Elias takes his warm hands and spreads your knees with ease after unbuttoning his shirt, making you yelp involuntarily at the near-abrasiveness. He licks his grillz and lets out a short, deep chuckle; you feel it vibrate your bones, while he aligns himself so that almost he’s eye-level with your warm core.
“Elias, wait—“ You whimper meekly,
He hums disapprovingly, letting out a firm ‘mm-mmn’. He rips his gaze from your thighs to your eyes, “Been waitin’ for years, sugar, not sure if I can any longer.” He repositions his hands, lifting your dress and hitching it up to your upper thighs, nearly to your pelvic bone.
Elias massages your thighs with an iron grip, it’s not yet rough, but not exactly gentle either. His switch between the two is making your mind reel.
He kisses up from your knee almost to where your dress bunches up as he removes his button-up, leaving him in his undershirt. He then says, “…So, m’sorry if I lose m’manners,” he breathes hotly against your skin, “But I don’t think I can live without destroying this pussy for a minute longer.” He damn near groans.
His mouth hovers above your clothed cunt—he purposely breathes in a way that makes you squirm at the feeling you’re unable to run from. As you shudder and tilt your head back, you suddenly hear a rip and you feel a gust of air.
You gasp and look down, where you’re met with Elias looking up at you cheekily, with one half of your panties in his mouth, and the other in his hand.
“‘Lias!” You exclaim.
Elias feigns innocence, “Told ya I ain’t mean no harm.” He then averts his focus to your legs, and he leaves a kiss to your mound.
“Y’not gon let me freshen up, will ya?” You ask quietly, already knowing the answer.
Instead of answering, Elias takes his tongue and trails it from your hole to your clitoris, and you puff out the air you didn’t know you were holding in.
Elias seems to enjoy your reaction, for he then gives you another long lick.
And another,
and another,
and you guessed it, another.
You press your lips together, muting your sounds, and Elias ‘tsk’s at the sight.
He nips a bit of the skin next to your lips, making you choke on your own spit. “Don’t like how quiet you’re bein’.” Elias reprimands you.
“Stop t-teasin’ then,” You manage to huff.
Elias chuckles in disbelief, “Wanted to be gentle, but y’makin’ it hard,” he then lifts you up from the table, and places his back where you once laid. He hooks your legs over the sides of his head, your pussy now inches away from his plump, shining lips.
Elias’ typical, million-dollar smirk is back on his face, but there’s something more sinister behind it—your legs would’ve buckled if he weren’t holding them.
“You’re a whore, jus’ like I said y’were.” His southern drawl makes your stomach twist in knots, despite the familiarity. Before you could get a word out, Elias placed you onto his face.
You mewl at the feeling of his tongue swirling around anywhere, and everywhere.
Your clit, your lips—it was almost as if he were starving.
There was no rhythm, no harmony and contentment, just the actions of a man on a mission.
A mission to make you scream louder than the birds on your farm.
Then, abruptly, Elias leaves a small, yet firm slap to your clit. “Admit it,” he says between licks. “Admit that you’re a whore.” He leaves another slap.
You don’t respond, too caught up in both the pain and pleasure. Your head hangs back and your eyes are clenched shut, and Elias grows impatient.
He removes his mouth from you with a ‘pop’ and almost snarls at you, “Thought I told ya Ion like repeatin’ myself.” He slaps your clit again, this time with more force.
“Okay—Okay! I was bein’ a whore tonight, ‘m sorry!” You cry out as your back arches.
Elias starts to lower you towards his grinning face, and you shiver at the feeling of his cold grillz.
Instead of teasing kitten-licks, Elias sucks at your slit and lets his tongue roam freely, without a care in the world. You writhe and whine on top of him, your body bending back and creating a dull aching sensation.
His advances are relentless, and you have no chances of escaping his grasp; he readjusts his grip as soon as he feels you start to slip away from him. You don’t know whether to clench around his tongue as he fucks you with it, or to cry–you end up doing both, and this continues on for who knows how long.
You’ve stopped counting the number of orgasms you’ve had after the second one–you think–but you think Elias has been keeping track. He’s muttered ‘jus’ one more, sugar’ maybe three times now, and you don’t know how many you have left in you at this point.
After what feels like hours, Elias finally lifts your hips up, allowing you to slide down and straddle his hips with your head resting upon his chest.
The beating sound of his steady heart fills your ear, and you try to match your breathing with Elias’. You feel a vibration as he shakes with laughter. You slightly drag your head up just enough to peek at his face, and he looks down at you with amusement.
“We ain’t done, not yet, peach,” he chuckles breathily at the wave of surprise that washes over your face.
You fumble with your words, “What d’ya mean? ‘L-Lias, I-I’m spent!” You continue to tremble in his arms.
“Y’still talkin’, ain’t ya, sugar?” He scoffs, it’s antagonizing. And before you can utter anything else, Elias flips you around onto the table, so you now lay with your back on the wood once again. Your dress rides down a tad at the sudden movement, and Elias holds your back, lifting you so that he can push your dress up past your breasts.
Elias lowers your back, before leaning peck your nipples. You bite your lip, but quickly let out a moan once he blows air onto your nipples, watching almost menacingly as they harden. One hand tweaks one of your nipples, as the other drags down your rib cage.
His hot, glistening tongue swishes around your tits, as he leaves sloppy, open-mouthed kisses to your skin.
He sucks harshly as you whimper beneath him. One of his hands leaves your body and goes down to his slacks, he unbuttons them with ease without even looking, as he continues to leave hickies on your chest.
He untucks himself from his underwear, and you can’t help but buck towards his cock in anticipation.
“Easy, girl. You’ll get it when ya prove y’deserve it,” Elias mocks, you whine in response.
“I deserve it, more than anybody else–y’know that, ‘Lias,” You plead in hopes of him giving you what you want.
“That right, baby? All this yours, nobody else's?” He challenges, starting to stroke his length.
You squeeze your eyelids together, almost as if you were personally pained by the question.
“Damn right,” You huff as you look at him with a sudden wave of fire blazing through your eyes. Elias scoffs with a mixture of incredulity and mirth.
“Yeah, baby–always been yours. Glad ya finally came to y’senses.” And with that, Elias pushes inside of you, and you let out a broken gasp.
Elias quickly finds his pace as he thrusts in and out of you rapidly. He nearly pulls entirely out of your dripping cunt–and you think he’s going to tease you again, but he then slams back into you roughly, making you cry out as your back arches into him.
You’re now chest-to-chest with Elias as he continues to pump into you with little regard to your overstimulation. The contact of skin makes your toes curl in your heels. Elias grunts at the feeling of you clamping down on his cock and bites forcibly at the flesh of your neck.
Elias groans–almost as if fucking you were the key to heaven’s gates. He takes his large palm and pushes it down onto your torso, making your sweating body meet the barely-covered, rumbling wood.
You weep helplessly and squirm as he keeps you pressed against the shaking table.
“Mmnf–”Lias! Please!” You cry yet again, but without knowing the reason behind it this time.
He doesn’t respond to your watery blabbering, instead putting your legs on either side of his shoulders. Elias slowly–and almost lovingly–kisses your ankle, before unclasping the latch of your heel and sliding it off of your foot, letting it hit the floor with a thump that neither of you seem to catch through the sounds of your bodies meeting.
You two damn-near become one.
He repeats his actions on your other leg, but this time he kisses from your calf to your ankle before removing your heel and letting it meet the ground with your matching one.
His hand grips at the ankle he just kissed, using it as if it were the only thing keeping him grounded; like an anchor. He then sucks and nips at your leg, quickly marking just above your ankle with a red bruise, which you know will be purple by the time the sun rises for morning.
You hiss when he bites a little too roughly, and he shows his sympathy by licking at the irritated skin, soothing the tender ache.
“That feel good, darlin’? Tell “Lias how much y’love it, peach, c’mon,” Elias coos, lifting his shirt up so he can get a proper view of your sex.
You babble through sobs intelligibly, mewling something along the lines of ‘so so good, ‘Lias!’—at least that’s what Elias makes of it.
“Can’t hear ya, baby. Ya gotta–fuck! Ya gotta speak a ‘lil louder f’me, hm?” Elias manages to speak through his panting and groaning. You bawl, hot tears dripping from your cheeks down to your chin.
“It feels so good–oh god—‘Lias!” You shriek, not caring about the volume of your crying. “Please don’t stop! Please, please, please–” You ramble with a slur.
If Elias ever felt guilty at the way he man-handling you, seeing your fucked-out expression made all his worries wash away at the sight of you: tongue hanging out, as your tears dribble into your open mouth.
Your panting grows more frantic, little ‘uh-uh-uh’s being let out more frequently as you feel another orgasm course through your veins. “‘Lias—cummin’! S-sh-it, I-I’m cummin’!”
Elias firmly plants his feet on the floor, repositioning the arm on your stomach onto your other leg so that he can fuck you even deeper–deep enough to create a slight bulge in your stomach with his throbbing tip. “Yeah, that’s it. Fall apart on this dick, y’know y’want to, sugar. Been dreamin’ ‘bout it f’years, huh?” He taunts.
You try to answer him, honestly! But he’s hitting your cervix just right and his abs rub against the backs of your thighs–it’s too much.
Elias thought you’ve learned by now that he doesn’t take silence for an answer, so to remind you, he gives your spent cunt a more forceful slap than before.
“Fuck—Yes! A-always been wantin’ you, ‘Lias,” you wail. “I-I never let nobody touch me! Nobody but you!” You exclaim without thinking.
This fuels Elias to quicken his pace; he almost fucking growls at your words, and he tightens your legs around himself–right now, as he feels himself getting closer and closer to climaxing, he has no plans on pulling out.
He continues to heave words of encouragement as fucks you ruthlessly through your orgasm.
You moan and blabber as your vision turns white, and your ears start to ring. Your toes curl and flex, and your nails scratch at the table, hands desperate for something to hold. Your voice then gives out, as your tongue lolls out of your mouth yet again.
Elias gives you a few more earth-stattering thrusts, before his seed fills your puffy, aching hole; the guttural groan that leaves his throat ups in pitch–nearly turning into a whimper.
He pumps his cum into you once more, before releasing your legs from his grip and laying down on top of you. As he half-lays-half-stands against the table, he feels as if a cold bucket of water was dumped onto him.
He can no longer focus on the tingling feeling that shoots from his skull to his toes, but now on the fact that he was the first man you’ve been with.
You spent your first time with him–in a rickety building he bought from a Klan member, on an even dingier table.
Elias then taps your face, just enough to get you to come back to your senses. You open your eyes with a lazy grin at the feeling of his seed mixed with yours, but when you’re met with his panicky expression, you quickly push yourself up–to the best of your ability.
“What? Wha’s wrong, ‘Lias?” You question worrisomely.
He allows himself to catch his breath before speaking, “Y’serious?” It’s all that he says.
You furrow your brows and tilt your head at him, “Bout what? Y’scarin’ me, Elias,” you chuckle awkwardly.
Had you said something you shouldn’t have?
A million thoughts run rampant throughout your mind.
“‘Bout all this,” he flails his hand, motioning to where your bodies had just met. “Was that really ya first time?” He speaks loudly, and you feel mortified.
Your breath catches in your throat. You confirm his worries, your voice softer than a freshly picked feather, “Yes.”
Elias takes a step back, and it takes everything in you not to reach out for him. Instead, you sit up fully and push your dress back down to your thighs. You twiddle your thumbs idly, seeking for even an ounce of comfort as Elias pushes his shirt back down and tucks himself back into his boxers after wiping himself off with a rag. Despite his glowering, he hands you a rag so that you can wipe away the slick from between your thighs.
Did he regret spending the night with you? Did he find the fact that you remained a virgin because of him embarrassing?
“Why you ain’t tell me, girl?” He exclaims, “I wouldn’t have said and done all that foolishness if I knew you ain't never been with a man before!”
You feel your soul come back into your body. “You would’ve been all sweet with me? That whatcha sayin’, ‘Lias?” You can’t help but giggle.
“Ain’t nothin’ funny, woman! I was all rough with you ‘n–” You cut him off with a kiss to his lips, wrapping your legs around his hips and pulling him closer to you. You fold your arms around his neck, and you feel his hands drift down to your waist and squeeze lightly. Your nose nudges his, his breath fans your face as yours does his.
You break the kiss when you feel yourself losing your breath, and you gaze at Elias lovingly.
“You were perfect, I couldn’t imagine it any other way,” you whisper.
“Well for starters, could've gotten you a bed in the house ‘stead of a table in this dark ass room,” Elias grumbles.
You grin, “I think the lightin’ was just fine. Added ambience ‘n all that.” Elias pouts, and you peck his lips.
“I don’t care ‘bout the details, “Lias. Long as it was with you.” Your tone is as sweet as the finest honey in Clarksdale, and it pulls on Elias’ heartstrings.
“Y’really waited all these years….For me?” He whispers.
“Course I did, couldn’t imagine bein’ with anybody else.” You speak just as softly. You recognize the guilt that crosses his face, despite his best efforts to mask it with his bravado. “Don’t feel guilty, please. I don’t blame you for nun.” You caress his hair. Silence fills the room as Elias deciphers what to say, you just hold him tenderly until he’s ready.
“I-I love ya, more than y’know, sugar…” He trails off before finishing his sentence, “I jus’ want ya to know that. I have since we was young.” He looks at you with adoration and love in his eyes.
“I love you too, Elias Moore. Have since you stood up to my daddy on his farm f’me when we was seven.”
He smiles, but it’s tight lipped, making you frown. “Jus’ wish I could’ve admitted it sooner. Then this would’ve went down differently—would’ve been better.” He sulks.
You take your thumb and index finger and pluck his lips, making him shout ‘hey!’ with a laugh.
“Stop beatin’ y’self up, Elias. I told you, I’m perfectly happy here, right now. Ain’t nun gon’ change that a bit.” You scold him.
“If ya stop all that moppin’, I’ll let ya try again tomorrow, however y’want,” you giggle mischievously. Elias’ eyes light up almost immediately, the way he perks up reminds you of a puppy that was just given a treat.
Elias roars with laughter and squeezes you, before lowering you back down onto the table, he presses nearly all of his weight onto you.
You squeal and cackle as he tickles your sides, “‘Lias!”
You lay wrapped up with Elias, you felt as if you could lay there forever, and honestly in this moment, you wanted to.
Clarity and revelations do the body good.
Everything was good.
Until you heard a commotion on the other side of the door.

on the jukebox: ‘a thin line between love and hate’ by the persuaders 🌟
several days later —
“I gotta respect your commitment, Cam. That woman basically told you to go and die, and here you are in front of her workplace”
Cameron chuckled to himself, the voice of Kolson Harris coming through his car speakers from the vehicle phone.
“Well.. a wise poet once said “if at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again” and brotha, I’m already up”
“William Edward Hickson?” Kolson asked.
“No, nigga, Aaliyah”
It was enough to send Kolson into stitches, his infectious laugh making Cameron laugh.
The beaming sun of the midafternoon peered through the softly rolled down window of Cameron Cade’s Audi A8.
Sleek, black, sexy— just like he liked it.
Sitting in the driver’s seat of the ride, Cameron continued staring at your business card. The gold lettering shimmered every time the sun hit it, it was beautifully done.
Off white body card color, pink colored logo in the corner, ‘Kaymore Lake, CEO & REALTOR’ written stunningly in gold.
You had your proper contact information in the card and Cameron tried every last one of them if it meant he got to hear your voice again.
The same voice that saw right through his shit and didn’t care for it. It was that pushback that had Cameron wanting more.
Glancing down at his watch, the time read 12:45 pm. Perfect.
“Well, I’ll let you get to it, keep me posted”
Grabbing the impressive bouquet of pink roses wrapped in white and gold plastic wrap, Cameron Cade stepped out of the Audi.
He dressed in a three piece grey suit, brown dress shoes, and thin black Cartier shades— handsome, rich, and elegant. Cameron knew he was feeling himself.
He walked with a pep in his step as he approached your work building. Smiling at the valet worker, Cameron dropped his keys in their hand.
“I might be here a while so uh, park her somewhere good for me. I’ll have something for you on my way out” he patted their shoulder, “‘preciate you, brotha man”
His dress shoes clacked against the tiled floors, Cameron strutted towards the front desk, finally removing his sunglasses. He smiled adoringly at the elder black woman behind the desk.
“Good afternoon, ma’am. My name is Cameron Cade, how are you today?”
Ever the gentleman, Cameron held out his hand for the woman to take. She gave him a warm smile and the handshake.
“I’m doing quite alright, son, I can’t complain. I hope you’re doing even better”
“It’s a beautiful day out, it’s hard not to have a good day, y’know?”
The woman giggled, her eyes drifted to what Cameron was cradling in his non-dominant arm.
“Hey, i know that’s right. I’m assuming you’re here to see someone, that bouquet is beautiful!”
Cameron’s smile widened, “that’d be correct, is miss Lake available?”
The woman blanched softly, wearing a surprised expression, “those are for Kaymore? She didn’t tell me she was dating someone so sharp and well mannered.. or dating again for that matter.. not after that incident with Terrance… may God rest his soul..”
Cameron frowned for only a moment but quickly fixed his expression.
It sounded like the woman didn’t mean to expose that, something about it made Cameron curious even though he knew it wasn’t his business.
“I’m sorry I’m getting beside myself— I just checked her schedule and she is fresh out of a meeting so it looks like you’re in the clear, mister Cameron”
She happily handed Cameron a visitor pass lanyard and pointed to the elevators.
“Take this to show security and you’ll be on the second floor. Kaymore’s got that big office all the way down the hall— it’s not hard to miss”
Cameron bowed his head respectfully, “well thank you, miss lady. You have a blessed day, alright?”
“You too, sweetie”
Cockily walking towards the elevators, Cameron flashed the visitor pass towards every guard he walked by. He felt on top of the world, it was hard to bring him down.
The comforting pinging sound of the elevator informed the man he was on the second floor. Upon the gold doors opening, he easily spotted the office the receptionist mentioned.
A security guard stood stationed outside of your door, stoic and unmoved. He hardly acknowledged Cameron when the tall man approached, instead demanding:
“Visitors pass”
Cameron happily flashed the lanyard, a shit eating smirk on his face.
“Thank you, now ‘gon ahead and get outta my way.. big headed ass nigga” Cameron said under his breath as he ascended past the security guard.
Upon stepping into the threshold, he could hear your voice, talking fiercely to whoever.
“So you need me to do your job for you? Manage the client count that comes asking for me to show them these extravagant ass homes? I don’t do that, you do that, you understand? I pay you to do that”
Cameron whistled quietly, you were giving whoever the business. He continued walking until he was fully in your space, until you acknowledged his presence, until your eyes met.
Time felt slow as he took in your look. You stood against the front of your desk, the company phone against your ear.
You wore a soft shade, cream beige color today, a pantsuit of your own with a white top peaking out from the top.
Your feet donned the red bottom Louboutins and your sleek dark hair was in an updo, the signature side part bang dancing over your eye.
But even with one visible eye to Cameron’s two, he could see the scowl you wore with every passing second that your brain registered that Cameron Cade was in your face.
In your face and in your office. What the fuck?
“Randy, I might need you to put a pin in that, I’m about to kick the ass of every security guard in this goddamn building—“ you slammed the phone down and stormed over to Cameron. “What the hell are you doing here? Who let you up?”
Still giving you that same smirk, Cameron held up the visitors pass, you rolled your eyes.
“Unbelievable, fucking unbelievable. Well listen, I don’t care about some laminated letter necklace, this is my space— this is my office, if I don’t want you here, that overrides everything, you got that?”
Cameron tilted his head, “you don’t want me here, miss Kaymore? But I’m bearing gifts” he gently pushed the roses into the space between you two, “just for you, Briarwood’s finest.. for the finest”
Still glaring at him, you snatched the bouquet and walked it over to your trash, dropping it in the bin with ease.
“Cameron Cade, I do not have time for whatever games you think I’m down to play. My patience is thin enough and seeing you here is only making it worse. If you have something to say to me, say it before I get your ass sent our window first”
You walked back to your desk and leaned against the front, your arms crossed. Cameron felt his heart pounding with every moment he got to see you up close.
You were so goddamn gorgeous, even when you were borderline cussing him out.
“You remembered my name—“ Cameron tried to be sentimental. You gave him a warning look.
“Boy, I will hurt you”
Cameron only chuckled and threw his hands up. “Alright alright, I just want a second of your time, and I promise I’ll get to steppin’”
“A second and a half, and you’re already wasting it. Speak”
Cameron Cade licked his lips and stepped forward, only cautiously, he held your intense gaze.
“Let me take you to dinner tomorrow night”
Immediately you let off a scoff, turning to walk behind your desk. You took a seat and eyed Cameron Cade some more.
“That’s what this is about? Sending me drinks? Chasing me down until you show up at my workplace all to ask me to dinner?”
Cameron shrugged softly, “I tried to call you, I emailed you—“
“And I got them—“
“But you didn’t respond to me, what else am I supposed to do?”
“Wait until I’m ready, maybe? How about that? Does patience exist in your world, Cameron Cade?”
Cameron smirked and chuckled, shrugging his shoulders again.
“Maybe I got done waiting, is that a crime?” He asked rhetorically, taking another cautious step closer to your desk.
“Maybe I feel that a gorgeous, stunning, successful woman like yourself deserves to be courted. Deserves to be shown a good time by a good man”
You tilted your head, amusement on your face. “And you’re the good man? My knight in shining armor?”
You giggled and shook your head, staring at the man who still had yet to look defeated.
“Please” you muttered under your breath. “Listen, I don’t know who sent you to play with me or what joke this is, but I haven’t dated in years. I’ve got too much going on and too much to lose and I can assume the same goes for you”
Cameron opted to not speak, to instead listen to you. This was rejection number two but you didn’t know Cameron Cade to think he’d give up.
He’d let you think that for now.
“I think we’re done here, please don’t ever do this again unless I send for you, am I clear?”
Cameron smirked once again, “crystal, ma’am”
You didn’t know how committed the man could be.. even if his intentions weren’t the purest.
You were a goal that he had to achieve and Cameron Cade wouldn’t stop until it was achieved.
.
“Hi Randy, I’ve arrived at the property for the tour but Mister Knight has not arrived yet. Any idea where he might be?”
You stayed sitting in your car parked outside of the multimillion dollar home. You always got to your properties early to tidy up, set up refreshments, and make it presentable.
But you did all of that and your client still hadn’t arrived.
“Last I talked to him, Kaymore, he was about fifteen minutes away. But that was almost ten minutes ago so Mister Knight should be there soon”
From the view of your rear view mirror, you noticed a limousine driving up the path towards the home. You let out a breath of relief.
“Oh this must be him, thank you, Randy. Bye now”
Upon the limousine pulling up behind your parked car, you jumped out and approached with a cordial smile.
The chauffeur stepped out and shook your hand, “You must be Kaymore Lake, my name is Kolson Harris, Mister Knight’s driver”
“Oh perfect. I’ve got everything set up so we can begin the tour right away.. is Mister Knight coming out?”
Kolson smiled and reached out for the door handle, you took a small step back. But when the door opened, your smile dropped.
As tall as ever and dressed in a three piece dark grey suit, thin black Cartier shades, and matching black dress shoes. Your eye caught another bouquet of roses, deep red and white assortment.
Cameron Cade gave the same smile that you started to hate but weirdly began getting used to.
The same smile that had the dimples in both of his cheeks peeking through, it pissed you clean off with how good looking this man was.
“Miss Kaymore Lake.. as stunning as ever” he mumbled, “these are for you, by the way”
This time when you reluctantly accepted the roses, you cradled them in your arms, but you still rolled your eyes.
You watched Cameron and Kolson bid each other a friendly goodbye before the man focused his attention on you.
“You’re Mister Knight?” You asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Mister Knight in Shining Armor.. your knight in shining armor” Cameron winked even beneath his glasses.
You let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of your nose, a quiet, frustrated giggle slipping past your lips.
“Jesus Christ.. okay. You wanna see this house? Let’s get this over with”
.
You were surprised with how much information Cameron was retaining, the questions he asked reflected that he was actually listening.
You caught a few looks and stares from him, his eyes can’t help but to admire such beauty in front of him.
You wore a dark grey turtleneck sweater dress, a thin black belt around your waist. You swapped out your Christian’s for a simple black Giuseppe heel. Your dark hair straightened down your back, the signature swoop perfectly in place.
Yeah, you noticed the looks, you let them roll off of your back like water.
“The last place on this tour is the living room” Cameron followed you into the middle of the large room. “I saved it for last because it’s the most expansive part of the home. You can host events, decorate it largely, and accommodate a lot of people. It makes for big families and children”
Cameron smiled, nodding.
“I uh, I don’t have children of my own but I’ve got family that’ll love this. We’re huge football fans, even for the local games at the college, we do it big. Cookouts, game nights, and just fun time with everybody”
You watched Cameron continue to eye the space, even walking around and peering out the windows. You softly cleared your throat.
“So you’re a big family person? You got siblings?”
Cameron shook his head, “nah it’s just me but I’ve got a lot of cousins. Cousins, aunts, uncles, the whole thing”
You nodded to yourself, shuffling to the other side of the room to examine things.
“You?” Cameron Cade called out, you looked over at him, “got a big family?”
“Yeah.. yeah it’s a lot of us on both sides” you crossed your arms, “I’m probably the most busy with the most work and I live the furthest so.. I don’t get to see them that much”
In a way, Cameron felt he could relate. It was certain life choices that were that— choices. His own decisions, his own actions and he had to stand on it.
He made the decision to move away from his family state, to take on college, to attend a trade school right after if it means he could start planning for his dreams.
He saw his family when he could.
The air filled with a silence that had the potential to be uncomfortable. You leaned against the wall, looking out of the window to the backyard, a clean and empty pool carved into the ground.
You didn’t know Cameron enough to try and relate to him… even though you could in some things.
Cutting the tension, Cameron cleared his throat. You heard his dress shoes take cautious steps towards you. When you turned your head, you caught his eyes already on you. That stupid, cute smile pulled at his lips, his green eyes dancing.
“So what does life look like for Kaymore Lake when she’s not working? When she’s not ducking a guy that’s really interested in her and throwing away his flowers?”
His tone was friendly and harmless but you still rolled your eyes and sounded off a sarcastic laugh.
“You just don’t give up, do you?”
Cameron shrugged, “it’s not in my nature, baby.. never has and it never will be. My daddy taught me to keep at everything I got goals for.. can’t stop, won’t stop”
You didn’t respond right away, still choosing to examine the man in front of you.
“And what is this goal, Cameron Cade? What do you want from me?”
Cameron took another step towards you.. and another.. and another until he was within a respectful distance.
Enough to get a look at your beauty up close, enough to make our beauty marks that littered your face, enough to smell the designer perfume emitting from your dress.
“Just one date” he smirked, “that’s all I ask you, Kaymore”
“And what is one date gonna do for me? I told you I haven’t dated in years and there’s a reason for that. What can you possibly have to offer me?”
Still, Cameron Cade wasn’t giving up.
“I just wanna offer you a good time— a good night. When’s the last time you had one of those, Kaymore?”
That riddled you silent and you hated it. When was the last time you had a nice night out? It had been years since Terrance.. a set of chills coursed down your spine.
“Just give me one night to prove myself and make it worth your while. I know it’s been years but let me change that. One night is all I ask. Me, you, some lobster, maybe some scallops, mood lighting.. I just want one night”
You stared up at him, shaking your head slightly. You couldn’t believe you were actually contemplating his offer.
“And then what?” You mumbled.
“And then I promise you can kick my black ass to the curb and I will respect your wishes to leave you alone. I’ll stop calling, I won’t drop on you at the office, I’ll stop all of it— the theatrics of it all. You have my word”
The more you looked at him, the more tempting he became.
But his proposition sounded good, he could be out of your hair if you just said yes. This could be fun, right?
You sighed and ran a hand through your hair. This couldn’t be real.
“You ‘gon get my drink right this time? Or do I gotta kill you?”
.
the next night —
Cameron Cade loved to be prompt. He thought it was one of the sexiest traits a woman could possess because it meant you respected his time which meant you respected him.
He’d get to a spot fifteen minutes early if it meant he got to get himself together for the very best.
And you were the best of the best.
Cameron Cade dressed perfectly for the occasion. Draped in a camel colored three piece linen and black dress shoes, Cameron sat at the designated booth in the restaurant waiting for you.
He checked the leather black strap of his Patek every five minutes. He felt his heart start to sink within the third check.
Was he being stood up?
And like a miracle, Cameron noticed a sleek, white Mercedes Benz pull into the valet parking lot at the front of the restaurant. Within seconds, you were stepping out.
It wasn’t like Cameron Cade to be starstruck by a woman often. Watching you give your keys to valet and approach the restaurant felt like slow motion.
Wind blew past your champagne colored slip dress and matching shawl, your dark hair pinned up with your signature bang. You walked in a complimentary colored Valentino heel and clutching a dainty white purse.
“Goddamn, boy” Cameron whispered to himself. Grabbing the bouquet of singular reds, the man greeted you at the door. “Miss Lake.. God took his time, you look gorgeous”
Your smile was cordial as you accepted the flowers, cordial yet timid. “Thank you.” You quickly checked Cameron up and down, “you look good too”
That earned you a kiss to your hand, the same hand that Cameron gently held as he walked you to your private booth, the same hand that you couldn’t believe you were allowing him to hold.. let alone kiss.
“I hope you don’t mind that I got us booked a bit away from the crowd. The Bistro opened up a new private lounge for larger parties but I reserved it just for us. I wanna get to know Kaymore Lake away from the eyes of strangers”
Your nerves made it a bit difficult to digest his words. You hadn’t felt this feeling in years… since Terrance.. it all felt so foreign.
Cameron let you into the half circle booth first, scooting in next to you but keeping a respectful distance.
You’d never say it out loud to him but Cameron cleaned up nicely. He was a handsome man already but the effort he put into his appearances every time you saw him was impressive. He smelled of CK1, it wasn’t helping your nerves.
“How was your day today, Miss Lake?”
You opted to busy yourself with the menus, specifically the drinks menu.
“My day was alright, nothing special. I got my work done, I gave a tour, it was good. H-how was yours?”
Cameron smiled, he immediately noticed your nervous tick, it was cute. He grabbed the crisp pitcher of water and topped off both of your glasses. You took a sip.
“My day was great. I sold some suits, ordered new ones, attended a few meetings.. but nothing beats having a day where there’s something to look forward to”
Your eyes met his, his face already broken out into a smirk as he took a sip of water.
“It’s not every day that I get to court someone like you, Miss Lake”
You scoffed quietly, “someone like me? Someone like me, what?”
“A diamond in the rough, gold within my sifter, like a needle in the haystack.. a queen. I mean, you’ve got it all, Kaymore Lake, what’s not to get starstruck over?”
Your giggle was both of surprise and sarcasm, you took another sip from your water.
“Wow, that’s quite the compliment. How many girls have you used that on, Cameron Cade? How many girls let you into their panties after that line?”
The man chuckled and shook his head, “we listen and we don’t judge”
“Yeah? Well I’m judging just a little bit, I can’t help it. You seem very put together, you’re handsome, you dress nice, got a sexy car, you’re wealthy, that’s the criteria for almost every woman in this town”
“Maybe that’s true and maybe it isn’t but I’m not at this restaurant with every woman in town” Cameron looked you square in the eye, “I’m here with you and there’s no place I’d rather be”
You weren’t backing down from his intense, intentional gaze. It was a challenge and you welcomed in.
“You’re good.. I think I’m starting to like it”
Cameron howled out a laugh, tossing his head back. “You’re tough as hell, woman! You ain’t discreet for shit, you got a nigga workin’!”
You laughed genuinely and Cameron Cade felt like he saw angels.. let alone hearing them. Your laugh was pure and real, no sarcasm or stoicism.
The know of his bet with Kolson swirled in the back of his head. The thought excited the man because he finally got you to crack a little. Now you were smiling, now you were laughing.
The end goal felt so close..
.
“Tell me something about dating that you don’t want me to know”
“I just hate it. I’m always let down somehow and someway”
By now, dinner had already been served. You and Cameron ate enough and opted to keep conversing, you were surprised you hadn’t upped and left yet.
Cameron Cade an aura about him that was becoming a bit addicting. He seemed so complex and it was starting to make you curious.
“Can I ask you something? The day I came to the office, the front desk receptionist seemed like she knew you.. she mentioned a guy named Terrance?”
You stiffened a little, Cameron saw it.
“Who’s he to you? If you don’t mind me asking— I’m sorry, I don’t mean to make you uncomfortable—“
You waved his words away after taking a deep breath, “Terrance isn’t anyone significant.. At least not anymore. He was my ex husband many, many years ago.. it didn’t end well..”
The man next to you nodded understandingly.
“It wasn’t meant to end the way it did but.. I had to do what I had to do”
Cameron gave you a reassuring smile, “I expected nothing less. From me to you, he’s a real sucka’ for doing you the way he did.. or maybe I can thank him because it put you in my crosshairs..”
By now, a good part of your mask was cracked and fallen. You were a bit more loose, a bit more comfortable. Instead of sitting away from Cameron, you sat turned into him.
You didn’t mind the way your knees brushed against his own, or the fact that he was sitting close enough for you to smell the CK1 every passing second.
“I’m in your crosshairs? You sure you aren’t in mine, Cameron Cade?”
Cameron was the first to break the eye contact, a dimpled smirk on his lips and a soft blush on his cheeks.
He didn’t respond right away, instead giving you a nice once over with his eyes.
“I wanna take you somewhere else after this”
.
What came after dinner was an upscale club. No lines or waiting, just a brief bag check and Cameron dapping up the bouncer for the night.
Upon walking in, you took immediate notice of the many bodies in such an expansive place. It seemed like the whole town was at this club.
With a firm hold of your hand, Cameron guided you through people until he found you both a spot in the very middle of the dance floor.
Strobe lights colored the room a variation of colors, the music was loud, and kept everyone engaged with one another. It also seemed like everyone had someone to dance with.
The speakers blared ‘Ready or Not’ by After 7 just as Cameron had secured your spot. Facing one another, you two began to sway to the soul sound.
The tension between you two felt like it had always been there, even with the very first interaction. It felt like a game of cat and mouse— it was thrilling and exciting.
Cameron Cade was the first to make a move. Boldly, he reached out and wrapped his arms around your waist, opting to pull you into him. You met his bold and circled your arms around his neck.
“I love this song” Cameron leaned down to say in your ear. He stayed bent down so you could respond.
“Me too”
“Yeah? Can I tell you what I love about it?”
When you nodded, Cameron pulled back and stared down at you. There was something different about his eyes, the warm shade of green now darkened and filled with want.
“I love what they’re talkin’ about. A man that wants and craves his woman so badly that he’d sacrifice everything if it means she knows that. A man that will do anything to prove that he’s the one for her”
You and Cameron continued staring at each other, bodies still swaying to the tune. Despite how packed the club was, in this moment, it felt like it was just you two on the dance floor.
“That sound like somebody you know?” Cameron teased with a smirk. “That’s all I want, Kaymore. I want you to know that you can be free with me, you can laugh with me, you can smile, you can—“
Sneakily, Cameron reached up to your updo and removed the single bobby-pin holding it together. Your thick mane dropping to your shoulders perfectly.
“— let down your hair with me. You can trust me. We don’t need to rush what we’re doing but as long as we’re doing it, that’s all I want”
You were speechless. Your eyes flickered to the orbs of Cameron Cade and surprisingly found pure emotion. No bullshit, no pump faking, no games.
Or so you’d think..
“You want me?” You muttered.
“Only you”
When Cameron leaned down and leaned into you, he was a bit shocked that you weren’t stopping him. He took it as a sign to keep going.. to keep going until your lips connected like magnets.
The kiss was short, experimental. But when he pulled back and caught that look in your eye, Cameron Cade dipped back in.
Lips perfect like puzzles, moving in sync together like an ocean, the sound of soft smacking picking up in both your ears.
He squeezed your waist tighter, your arms pulled him closer. All to the sound of After 7.
Somewhere in the pocket of his dinner suit, the vibrating texts from Kolson Harris could be felt, only Cameron was too occupied to notice.

“Cade’s Tailors & Company, my name is Sadie, how can I help you?
The sweet voice of Sadie Daniels annoyingly made the group of men in the room next door chuckle like school boys.
A group of black men who stood in slacks, quarter zips, and dress shoes. One had an iced matcha in hand, the other a beige colored coffee cup and a black lid, the other two just cradled a water bottle courtesy of Cade’s Tailors & Company.
The CEO sat in his chair, gazing out of the glass windows of his expansive office, watching the young ingenue scribble notes, the office phone pressed to her ear by her shoulder.
“She real bad, Cam. It’s nothing like walking in this bitch and seeing a gorgeous face” the one took a sip of his matcha, eyeing the CEO, “you hittin’ that?”
Cameron tilted his head with a look on his face. The one holding the coffee cup, Kolson Harris, the CEO’s best friend, nudged at the matcha man.
“You already know he is. She’s the only woman in this entire building, c’mon now—“
“But that don’t mean I’m fuckin’ her”
There was a silence for only a couple of seconds before all men erupted into laughter. Laughter that meant the nigga was lying.
“Nah, man, it’s just.. it’s off and on, from time to time. I gotta keep a boundary there so it doesn’t affect the business, y’know? Can’t have the bit so focused on me that she’s forgetting how to do her fuckin’ job”
The men nodded, taking sips of their respective drinks.
“.. not with how much I’m paying her just to sit pretty and answer the phone. She better have some brains to use… even when I’m fuckin’ said brains outta her, y’know?”
Cameron Cade’s smirk and chuckle was sick, it inflated his ego when the rest of the peanut gallery laughed again.
It wasn’t beyond anyone in the office that Cameron Cade got around. If it wasn’t Sadie Daniels, it could be anybody he wanted.
Relationships weren’t something he craved immediately or until he felt ready for them again. The one offs were fun and stupidly addicting.
Cameron Cade, twenty eight, self employed with his own business that served the high end community he was ushered into. He picked his own hours, traveled the world, and did whatever he wanted.
Did whoever he wanted.
Cameron Cade was fine enough that he didn’t need to flaunt his wealth to get plays.. It didn’t mean he didn’t do it still. The glistening Audemars Piguet worn on a sexy ass man was enough to do it for most women.
It was a thrill that Cameron Cade chased after every single time.
“Okay! O-okay.. of course, let me ask him, one moment!”
Sadie’s voice and the sound of her clicking heels on the tiles caught all of the men’s attention, their heads turning to watch her approach.
Opening the door of the CEO’s office, the gorgeous brown skinned woman poked her head in. She flashed the men a smile and laid her eyes on the one she needed.
“The organizers of the event tomorrow are on the phone. They’re wondering how many suits you planned on bringing so they can set up your station accordingly”
Cameron was quick and simple, “a hundred— all of ‘em washed, dried, pressed out, and in our garment bags. First come, first serve”
Sadie Daniels nodded, pulling her body out to close the door. But through the glass, she heard: “Thank you, Sadie!”
And right back, Cameron Cade heard: “you’re welcome!”
All while watching her ass sway on her black business slacks. The man hissed to himself and shook his head.
“That’s a fine ass woman..” He muttered, mostly to himself, except it caught the attention of Kolson Harris.
“But?”
Cameron shrugged, “I’m gettin’ a lil bored of her though”
Kolson nodded, “no substance to the pussy?”
Cameron shook his head, agreeing. “Nah, bro, none. Sometimes a nigga be wanting ‘ta talk and shit— just a little, not on no exclusive shit. All she wants to do is fuck, swear to God if y’all weren’t here, we’d be fucking right here, right now”
His friends chuckled and shook their own heads, disregarding the lewd detail. Cameron couldn’t help it and they knew it.
“Maybe I need somebody on my level. Somebody that’s still down to get up with me like that but is mentally stimulating. A nigga need’s that sometimes”
Kolson Harris nodded and took a brief look at his own danced out Audemars.
“Well our lunch reservation is cuttin’ close so maybe we’ll find somebody there”
All of the men grabbed their respective items and headed for the exit, Cameron tidied up his office before turning off the lights and locking up.
“Sadie, I’m with the boys at The Lux! If anybody asks for me, take a message!”
.
Thankfully the reservation was still in tact for the men to be served and seated.
Sitting in an expansive half circle booth, all four men continued to take glimpses of the laminated menus, orders of drinks and appetizers in the restaurant’s system and being prepared.
The restaurant was decently packed with just enough people. It wasn’t too empty but it also wasn’t feeling like the walls were closing in because there were too many people.
Everyone could breathe, he could breathe. He chatted every now and then but opted to take in the area. The Lux was Kol’s idea, somewhere Cameron’s never been.
It seemed like Cameron Cade was the only one to notice the front door opening and another guest enter.
And like a moth to a flame, the CEO was entranced.
The figure strode in, dressed perfectly for the restaurant’s atmosphere.
Hair pressed out in a side part with soft bumps on the ends, one side just brushing over your eye.
Donning a simple sleeveless black dress that exposed her arms and stopped above the knee with matching black heels. Gold accented, simple jewelry. A beige, fleece lined sweater draped on top of the shoulders, tying in the front— preppy, classy.
The woman removed her black sunglasses and smiled only softly at the hostess before discarding the shades in her black, crocodile print Prada bag.
You screamed expensive taste and you were fucking gorgeous too. Exuding confidence you walked, the CEO couldn’t help but to stare.
Cameron watched you sit down at a booth all by your lonesome, and it didn’t bother you. You simply began reading the food and drinks menu.
“Goddamn” the man said under his breath… again, catching the attention of Kolson Harris. Kolson, who looked where Cameron was, whistled under his breath as well.
The waitress— Emma serving the men rounded a corner and approached your table, her notepad and pen out, ready to serve you.
“Oh yeah.. yeah, she the one..”
Cameron licked his lips, “you know her?”
Kolson shook his head, “only know her by name. That’s Kaymore Lake, she got her own real estate company, degrees, patents. She’s the real deal.. right up there with us too, she got a lot to her name”
Cameron Cade went to respond but the shuffling feet of Emma stopped the thirsty men. With a tray of their ordered apps and drinks, she began handing them out.
Drinks?
“I’ll let you all get settled with those apps and I’ll make my rounds. Whenever y’all are ready for entrees, give me a holler, yeah?”
Cameron caught Emma’s eye before she turned on her heels.
“One more thing.. I uh, i saw you serve that very beautiful woman over there just a little bit ago”
Cameron gestured across the room making Emma look, she nodded.
“Oh, miss Lake— yes, she’s one of our best patrons”
Cameron smirked, “Emma, that’s perfect. I need the most expensive, classy drink the boys in the back can cook up for her, from me. I’m a good guy, I just wanna make a good first impression. Please send her my best with that drink and add it to my tab”
Cameron Cade sent Emma away with a wink. He ate a little of the shared cheesy artichoke dip and chips, some of the fries, and a bit of the house Caesar salad, but his eyes kept scoping the scene.
Watching you, checking the back for Emma, but observing you mainly. You had an aura about you that revved up the chase in Cameron Cade.
You didn’t have to be out there for him to notice you and he liked that.
Ten minutes later, Cameron and Kolson watched Emma exit the back and approach the open restaurant with a filled glass in her hand.
She approached your table and sat the drink down, her lips moving to talk. Cameron watched you frown softly, eyes flickering from Emma to the drink.
When Emma pointed over to Cameron Cade and his men, your eyes finally locked on each other.
Your demeanor was short fused, brown eyes cut and razor sharp, brows softly frowned in, you looked like you didn’t play any games. You looked unimpressed and you were.
Cameron smiled cordially and raised his own drink to you, bowing his head respectfully. You continued to stare at him for a moment before turning back to Emma.
What the CEO didn’t expect was for you to shake your head and shoo away the drink. Not only did you shoo it off but you simply returned to your meal like the matter never happened.
You didn’t spare Cameron Cade another look across the room.
“What the fuck?” Kolson murmured, “this bitch dead ass? Iit’s like that?”
Cameron shrugged and took a sip of his own drink.
“Maybe the drink didn’t go well with what she was eating, real niggas miss the mark sometimes.. ain’t no thang..”
He took another sip and looked at you over his shoulder, “but I tell you what, imma see her again, this ain’t over”
.
Cameron Cade felt he could get used to the sight of high end events, especially when it concerned his own business.
The event opened its doors in the late morning and welcomed the many of elites past the thresholds.
Those that RVSP’d got security checked and identifies verified, the gala like event took place at an upscale, rented out convention center. Carpeted floors being pressed on by the finest dress shoes and heels.
Standing within his decked out station of ‘Cade Tailors & Company’, Cameron gave it another look over for appearance.
“Everything look good, boss man?”
Approaching him with two iced matcha teas was obviously Kolson Harris, Cameron Cade couldn’t think of a better person to do this event with.
Kolson had his own business specializing in men’s fragrances. He had his own station set up at this event.
Two successful black men as CEOs? It was everything the two men dreamed of back in college.
Sighing but accepting the iced drink with a thank you, Cameron nodded. “All looks good. We got ten suits sold with some business cards to match, I’m just making sure these folks ain’t dirty up my spot”
Kolson nodded understandingly, wiping at a few dust particles from the sleeves of some suits on display.
“How’s your station looking?” Cameron asked, drinking more of his matcha and looking around the busy convention. Many of people had drinks as well, they walked around, they talked, they laughed.
“Oh we’re good, I’ve got a few of my own folks here with me and manning it, I’ve been checking in with them every now and then. We’re making sales and promoting, that’s the goal”
“Hey man, that’s the best part. I’m happy for you”
After a dap up, the men continued conversing. They walked around a bit, checked out what they could, all while keeping close eyes on their own stations.
When their drinks ran low, the two men found themselves at the complimentary bar ordering another go of iced matcha lattes.
They continued conversing while they waited.
“Sadie starting to make some sense to you yet? Or you got her bad ass on the curb?”
Cameron chuckled under his breath, “shit.. not yet but we’ll see. She came over last night, stayed for a little bit and left. Usually I’m cool with her staying the night but I had to get ready for this event”
Kolson nodded. “I hear you, nigga, I hear you. Y’know I’m always here to make sure you’re in check and never lettin’ a bitty get one in on you. It ain’t shit to these women now, it’s easy to hit and go”
Like the dirty dog he was, Cameron Cade agreed. Much to their quick surprise, they heard their names for their drinks.
Upon turning back to scope the scene, Kolson was nudging Cameron with his elbow. A smirk made out under the lid where Kolson drank from.
“Oh shit.. there’s your girl”
Looking where Kolson was, Cameron Cade felt his heart sink and speed up at the same time.
You stood in front of your own decked out station. You had a beautifully decorated table set out with cards, a laptop, some small attraction signs, the whole nine to promote your business.
But with a beautiful set up was being represented by an even beautiful woman.
You donned the same swoop hairstyle from the restaurant, but instead of a dress, you wore a pantsuit. Black from head to toe and walking in red bottom Christian Louboutin heels.
“She somethin’ different, Kol and I knew it from the day I saw her”
Cameron continued watching you work, fuck, he couldn’t help it. He watched you talk to passerby’s, smiling when necessary and being professional.
“You told me you was ‘gon see her again, there she go. Get after that, don’t tell me she got you nervous, nigga”
Cameron scoffed, giving Kolson a look.
“Don’t ever play with me like that, don’t no bitty make Cameron Cade nervous so don’t ever repeat that bullshit. I just gotta make sure I’m comin’ right, I can’t approach her on some fuck shit.. not when I got goals. I’m leaving with her number in my phone, I can bet that”
“Yeah? I wanna see this, how much?”
“How much you tryna put up? Since you got your mouth running and shit”
Kolson chuckled, “we can keep it light. Two bands towards to my business if you walk back here without shit. Three bands in yours if you wet that bucket, simple”
Cameron Cade shrugged and stuck his hand out, Kolson Harris shook on the deal. He watched his best friend begin walking your way.
Each step closer to you and Cameron got to make out your beauty.
But it was nothing like finally approaching your station, watching you turn around at the sound of someone getting close.
“Miss Kaymore Lake” Cameron mumbled, a cordial smile on his face as he drank you in.
Despite the intense look on your face and soft mug to your features, Cameron Cade stood his ground, ready to know you. He stuck out his hand.
“Cameron Cade, nice to meet you”
You said nothing for a minute, eyes darting from his outstretched hand to his face. His greenish hazels swirled in excitement, he was handsome, you couldn’t lie.
“Cameron.. Cade?” You repeated, your voice as smooth as butter. The man nodded.
“Yes ma’am, the one and only”
Cameron watched you sigh, still not moving to shake his hand. You simply began fixing at your display table.
“You got anybody wanting to buy or invest in a property, Cameron Cade?”
The man softly cleared his throat, retracting his hand and fitting it in his pants pockets.
“Not at this moment, miss Lake. Maybe me, I think I’m due for a bigger space, y’know? A bachelor pad with three bathrooms is a little outdated, I could do for five.. I gotta max out my space”
He half expected you to give him a giggle or something but you simply stood there, listening to him with your arms crossed. Even stony faced, you were one of the most beautiful women he’s ever seen in his life.
“Well Cameron Cade, if you aren’t ready to invest, then we don’t have anything to talk about. You’re more than welcome to take my card and contact me when you’re ready”
Cameron still held out on some hope. He happily took one of your cards that sat in the pink display stand.
“I may not be ready to upgrade my spot with you just yet but I do believe we have something to talk about”
You shuffled a step closer from behind your display table, arms still crossed, steel brown eyes still drinking in the tallest man in the room.
“Oh yeah? About what?”
“Did you like the drink I got for you yesterday?”
“No” you said immediately, “a French 75 doesn’t pair well when I’m eating pasta. You already know my name, figure out what I like to drink before assuming”
Your quick and sharp response would scare any man. If they didn’t get the hint with your demeanor already, they were in for a rude awakening.
But Cameron Cade wasn’t like any other man.
“Noted” he smiled, showing his pearly whites, “I can book us a one on one at Bistro Amore tonight and I can make up for it. All on me, on my dime”
When Cameron wanted you to smile, he didn’t think there would be such coldness to it. You let off a soft, sarcastic chuckle, dimples in both cheeks poking through.
“I don’t think so”
Finally, Cameron Cade’s cocky, undeterred smile faltered just a little. He still tried to keep it up but you’d caught it already.
He nodded, “okay.. that’s fair and I deserve that. I don’t mean any disrespect, miss Lake, truly. I just saw you from across the room yesterday and thought you were one of the most gorgeous women I’ve seen in my entire lifetime”
You blinked, awaiting for him to finish and be done. His stupid, pretty eyes had your attention and your attention only.
“You walked into that spot like you owned it, took my breath away without a doubt. I just wanted to let you know that I saw you, I think you’re very beautiful, and I would love to take you for dinner”
You watched Cameron Cade speak with his hands up in a defensive position. He wore the humbled version of the smirk from earlier, really trying to win you over.
You continued to stay silent as Cameron reached into his pocket to reveal his own business card.
Placing it on the cloth covered table, he slid it over to you.
“In the meantime, should you want or need any other pantsuits as fly as the one you’re wearing, ‘gon give me a call”
Cameron sent you one last lingering smile, a cordial look with a teasing edge in his eye. He was the cat and you were the mouse.
“Take care of yourself, miss Kaymore Lake”
And with that, the grown man turned on his dress shoes and walked until he disappeared into the crowd.
You picked up his business card and examined it. The card was an off white tint with navy blue lettering and his logo in the upper right corner.
‘Cade’s Tailors & Company’
You saw his office phone number and rolled your eyes. You felt nothing when you tore up the card, discarding the shreds in your trash bin.
When Cameron found Kolson, he was back at his station, his matcha long gone. His best friend noticed Cameron’s relaxed expression, the card twinkling in his hand.
“How’d it go?” Kolson Harris asked.
Cameron held up the business card, a shit eating smirk on his face.
“Let’s up that price, I think I can do more than get her number”
“It ain’t none of your friends business what we will be doing tonight”

on the jukebox: ‘none of ur friend’s business’ by ginuwine 🎀
It had been the longest week of your life since the deception of your boyfriend was revealed. Boyfriend? He felt like an ex now but that didn’t matter.
You weren’t leaving, you couldn’t leave.
You laid in bed, your back facing the door. It was easy to become depressed these days. Time melted into nothing but the same old feeling.
What would’ve occupied you with spreadsheets and phone calls has since ceased, Cameron called your job on your behalf to tell them you weren’t coming in anymore. Not even maternity leave, you just weren’t employed there at all.
He cooked and cleaned as your pregnancy slowly began progressing. And slow it was despite the closeness in days.
Morning sickness was merely morning nausea, you never vomited thankfully but the urge to do so was intense. Nothing that Ginger ale couldn’t fix.
The sound of the bedroom door opening had you curious but you didn’t dignify that with looking over your shoulder. It was Cameron, you knew that.
The tall man stood at the threshold, leaning against the doorframe.
“You hungry? I made you something”
You shook your head, readjusting your resting position away from him. You didn’t have an appetite nor did you want anything Cameron made.
You were still sick at the thought of his reveal that he baby trapped you to keep you at his side.
Soon you heard shuffling on the carpet and a dip in the bed near you. Still, you didn’t look. You felt his hand on your hip and drag up to your back.
“Baby’s making you sick?”
You shook your head again. “‘M just not hungry, Cameron”
He nodded, going to caress your back in circles. “Okay.. I’ll save it for you for later. Can I get you anymore ginger ale or water? Fruit at the very least? I went to the store yesterday and got fruit the doctor recommended for your first trimester.. said the first is always the worst. I just want to be here for you as much as I can, bae”
Because you were facing away from him, you happily rolled your eyes— your now teary eyes. You were really stuck.
You made the mistake of wiping at your face, Cameron Cade knew what that meant. You cursed internally when he easily turned your body around and brought you into his arms.
“Cameron, stop—“
“No, don’t even try to fight it. Just relax”
Your head rested on his chest against your will, you tried to steady your breathing as more tears slipped down your cheeks. Your own arms cradled your body, not daring to hug Cameron back.
He didn’t care, as long as he could hold you. He rubbed your back some more.
“It’ll all be alright, I promise. You don’t gotta worry about a thing, I’ll be here for you every step of the way. It’s hard to see this for what it is now but this baby is our miracle worker”
You didn’t meet Cameron’s eyes when he cupped your face. You couldn’t.
“Just trust me. Everything will be okay”
But the next day proved Cameron Cade wrong. He sat in the living room while you surfed online on your laptop, but all wasn’t calm.
“You’ve never been as supportive as you like to say you were” you couldn’t help but to get frustrated, your phone on speaker and right next to your laptop.
Cameron couldn’t help but to tune out his football game in one ear and tune into your conversation with the other.
“I just feel like your advice is bullshit, Mikayla. Yours, Jackie’s, Kiara’s— everybody’s. This is one of the most stressful times in my life and you can’t even be a friend enough to make sure I’m good. You’re so quick to diss my relationship and I’m getting tired of that shit”
Cameron only made out a few mumbled words, assuming from Kayla through the phone. But your voice cut through once more.
“That doesn’t even matter but okay. You’re not really hearing me or trying to understand what I have to say. You’re not even focused on making things right—“
Cameron leaned in closer even going as far as turning down the volume of the TV.
“Mikayla, you called me stupid. Stupid, dumb, and an idiot, and you’re upset at me for defending myself?”
Another moment of static mumbling.
“If you aren’t going to apologize to me like a real friend— you and the other girls because it’s clear y’all are playing follow the leader— then you’re done in my book. You and the rest of them, I don’t care”
More static mumbling. Like the sick guy he was, Cameron Cade only smiled at your words. Was this vindication?
“Yeah, whatever, goodbye”
Cameron quickly fixed his nosy posture and focused on the tv screen once he heard you emerging from the bedroom.
You walked straight into the kitchen and into the fridge. “Cam, is there any more ginger ale?”
Cameron coughed out a response, praying he didn’t expose himself for eavesdropping. “Y-yeah, I put a few cans in the freezer for you”
He watched you search the freezer and find what you were looking for.
“Everything okay?” He asked, you looked over at him. “I just heard you yelling.. wanted to give you your space without intervening”
You waved him off, “Don’t worry about that, it’s fine. Just had to cut off my best friend of ten years plus so..” you cracked open the can and took a sip. “But no seriously, don’t worry. I’m done with liars and fake people”
You didn’t say another word before grabbing a snack and retreating back to the bedroom with the close of the door.
Cameron Cade’s smile was something like the chesire cat. He wasn’t going to say he told you so at all, it wasn’t what you wanted to hear.
But to him.. it was a win in his book.
.
Cameron Cade finally felt like things were going well again.
Maybe he had to let you have your space for you to start coming around. And that you did. It wasn’t like a flipped switched but a gradual shift.
He was back sleeping in the bed with you and you were fine with cuddling. One arm above your head, the other wrapped around your stomach, your back to his chest.
You weren’t fully kissing him on the lips whenever he departed from work but Cameron accepted a kiss on the cheek. At least you hugged him too.
You came around to talking to him a bit more. Your tone still hesitant but completely void of the ice and annoyance like before.
You hated that Cameron was back to making you laugh. He was a naturally funny guy and upon your walls slowly coming down, he made up for it with jokes and the humor you missed.
If that wasn’t better, you were steadily getting back to cooking dinner for you two. Your cravings started getting frequent, you had certain tastes for things and it was better if you made it.
Something like a baked ziti pasta with salad on the side, Cameron could never cook pasta properly.
You stood at the stove, having just pulled out the pasta dish that was baking in the oven.
Ready to announce that the food was done, Cameron Cade appeared at your side. He slithered an arm around your waist and kissed your hair.
“All done?” He muttered, you nodded and leaned into him.
“You want salad too?” You asked, your boyfriend nodded.
“Yes please”
You turned to grab two plates but Cameron Cade stopped you. He cupped your face and peered into your eyes, a soft smile pulling at his lips.
He felt his heart lurch at his ribcage with the more he looked at you. You, the love of his life. He leaned down and connected your lips, the first kiss in what felt like years.
He could feel your hesitation to kiss him back but you melted regardless.
“I love you. Thank you” Cameron said against your lips once he pulled away.
Your smile was shy. “You’re welcome”
You brought two plates to the dining room table where Cameron sat. A full meal and Pepsi for him, a salad and ginger ale for yourself. He didn’t take long to start digging in, you watched him as you forked your salad.
“You really do make pasta better than me, Danielle. This is so good”
You winked, cracking open your ginger ale and taking a sip.
“Well thank you. I’ll end up fixing me a plate later, this salad and ginger ale is keeping my nausea at bay”
It was your turn to sigh. “I’ll be glad when out of the first trimester. I’m nauseous, exhausted, sleeping all day, can barely eat. I’m drained to say the least”
Cameron reached over and interlocked your hand on the table. Sympathy swished through his eyes in a way that still had your stomach plummeting.
Were you coming around to him? Yes. But the cold reality that your pregnancy wasn’t planned how you dreamed was something you still thought about.
“It’s not even just this though. I know I told you not to worry but having to cut off my best friend since high school still hurts. I cried that night. I’d never thought our journey ended the way it did”
His thumb brushed over the front of your hand, caressing the skin supportively.
“She and the girls always looked at me like they’d never seen someone in love. Always giving me opinions and advice that I never asked for”
Cameron Cade felt the itch crawl up his spine, the itch to validate his own vindication that your friends weren’t shit at all. He really didn’t want to say he told you so.
“Yeah.. it’s a really unfortunate situation, baby, I’m sorry that you’re going through this. The timing is awful. It’s even sadder because she’s seen the ins and outs of your life. To suddenly end that over a relationship she wasn’t apart of is really fucking stupid”
You nodded in agreement, taking a sip of your ginger ale. “As shitty as a friend she’s been acting, she did give me a piece of advice that actually made sense”
You squeezed Cameron’s hand, looking at him. His eyebrows raised in curiosity.
“She told me “You are still Danielle Young with or without Cameron Cade. I know that you know that but does he know that?””
Cameron gulped, still watching you. “At first I couldn’t really see what she meant by that because my love for you exceeded everything and everybody. I’ll do anything for you, Cameron”
You leaned over and kissed the front of his hand.
“At least I thought I did. Bed ridden and wallowing in my depression, I realized that my life wasn’t over just because someone’s never told you no. I’ve always told you that I’m nothing like the bitches in your past that let you scream, cry, yell, and holler to get your way.. I don’t think you really took me seriously”
You glanced up, watching the mask of your boyfriend start to slip and crack. He wore the softest grimace on his gorgeous face but still tried to smirk.
“I might not be the loudest bitch you’ve ever dealt with but I promise you I’m the smartest”
You leaned back in your seat and took another drink from your can.
“You can think you’re quick but I’m quicker” you made sure to look Cameron square in the eye as you revealed papers from underneath you. Placing them on the table, you pushed them towards him.
Cameron Cade skillfully kept his burning anger contained. Snatching the papers from in front of him, he read. His eyebrows jumped in surprise, a dark chuckle leaving him.
“‘Got some balls on you, huh? My baby’s gone? My daughter? My son? Gone, huh?”
You nodded surely, “you don’t know really know me as well as you say you do, baby”
Cameron Cade took a beat to respond, he merely stared at you. All he could muster was a sarcastic chuckle. He silently stood with his plate, walked over to the oven and helped himself to more pasta.
Your eyes followed him the entire time. He plopped back into place and began tucking in.
“Y’know, I gotta give it to you, Danielle” he said after swallowing and wiping his mouth with a table cloth, “I respect your ambition and this petty need to prove me wrong but I know it’ll be short lived”
You let him continue to talk, your own sense of anger building and burning.
“I know you. I know your body, I know your mind. It didn’t take shit for me to keep you from leaving that one night and that says a lot about you. I love you to death but you’re weak. Weak, gullible, easy to manipulate. I can just fuck you and knock you up again”
You bit the inside of your cheek, you had to keep yourself calm.
“Believe me when I say, there isn’t anything you can do to me that won’t ruin my life or yours”
You let out a breath and gave Cameron Cade a solemn like smile.
“Would you believe me if I said I already have? And I’m not talking about the abortion”
Almost as if on cue, Cameron Cade felt all internal rushing and signals suddenly halt. Halt, freeze, stop. He sat rigid in the kitchen chair, a frown settling deep on his eyebrows and staring at you from across the table.
“It’s not poison I put in the pasta but a pretty strong paralytic that’s going to keep you like this for hours.. days even”
Cameron Cade somehow still attempted to move, his loss of function and frustration because of it had him choking out a growl of anger. His pretty face now red and ready to go.
“And when it finally wears off, you’ll be so disoriented and slow that your body won’t have a choice but to shut down. How’s that for weak?”
All he could do was watch you move but even then, his sight was going a soft daze view.
You stood and rounded the table, not saying another word. You simply reached into the coat closet and put on a jacket, grabbing your hefty purse of prepacked essentials. Your shoes were last.
With one look over your shoulders, Cameron Cade was so rigid that his lower limbs had given up, taking him to the grounds of the hardwood floor.
It was beyond rigidity, he couldn’t feel a fucking thing. It also burned like a bitch.
With one final approach to Cameron, you bent down to meet his face. “I didn’t need to go through the pain by you to know that I’ve been a fighter. You can’t control me anymore, Cameron Cade”
And with that, you were hauling ass out of the apartment. The fresh air kissed your face when you pushed open the main door. You didn’t make it three feet outside without the sound of a blaring car horn alerting you.
Waving from her Nissan Altima stopped in the middle of the street, Mikayla Wallace honked at you from the driver’s side.
“Dani!” Mikayla called out, “come on, let’s go, let’s go!”
Seeing your best friend and hero had you tearing up with every step you ran towards her car. You hurriedly helped yourself inside.
“Oh shit, wait!” You reached into your jacket pocket and grabbed your phone. Out of your window, you harshly threw the device to the ground— destroying it. “Okay, let’s go!”
And to Mikayla Wallace, that was all she needed to hear.
.
“You know as much as I love being a here at Aunt Lisa’s house, I can’t stay here forever. Not even for another day”
You sat on the guest bed of Mikayla’s aunt’s condo. Four bed and two bath, Aunt Lisa lived large and took charge.
Mikayla sat next to you, she nodded both in solemn and sympathy. “The least I can offer you is somewhere to eat, sleep, and clean up while you’re planning”
You smiled and rested your head on her shoulder. “You also got me a new phone so you’re kinda pushing it with meeting my basic needs”
You both shared a laugh. A brand new iPhone with a registered number sat in your purse, it was a gesture by your best friend that she thought of on her own.. given the situation.
The elephant in the room was huge but it wasn’t one you had to touch on. You and Mikayla knew, what was understood didn’t have to be explained.
Truth be told, Mikayla Wallace knew your entire plan. With her help, she was your sanctuary and safe haven. You just had to make it convincing to Cameron that you were finally Mikayla free, all to win his trust.
“Any idea where you’re heading?” She mumbled for you to hear, her head now resting on yours. You nodded.
“Somewhere far the fuck away from here”
And by the next day, that’s just what was happening.
A morning as early as 4 AM had you at the airport, a barely packed luggage of clothes Mikayla let you take and your purse occupying your hands. You’d made it through TSA and to your terminal.
Mikayla, draped in leggings and a hoodie, stood before you.
“That phone has mine, all of the girls’ numbers, and Aunt Lisa’s too, I had that queued up before giving you the phone. Promise we’ll talk everyday?”
You both interlocked pinkies, you brought her in for a hug you both needed.. and was going to desperately miss.
“Fuck everyday, every damn hour” you both laughed. “but I promise to keep you in the loop about everything. I feel like I’ve been saying it so much lately but thank you. We’ve always been lifelines for each other.. couldn’t ask for a better one”
Mikayla squeezed you before pulling back and kissing your cheek. “Anything you want or need, do not hesitate to call me or Aunt Lisa. Get yourself situated and we’ll come see you”
You didn’t get the chance to say anything other than another hug and goodbye, your flight was now boarding.
Blowing Mikayla one last kiss, you got yourself in line and getting your ticket checked. Down the runway you went until you were on the aircraft, looking for your seat.
When you found it, you finally let out a breath of relief.
It was go time. Finally the plane started into turbulence before setting off.
You watched the takeoff and with your headphones on, you closed your eyes.
.
ELEVEN MONTHS LATER — NOW
“Baby, I’m home! You in here?”
You smiled as you continued washing your clean up dishes, having just finished preparing for dinner to cook.
“I’m in here! C’mere so I can kiss you”
Hearing his chuckle was enough to make you blush as you wiped your hands with a paper towel.
Finally rounding the corner and entering the space, the light in your boyfriend’s eyes was loving.
“‘Said you wanted to kiss me, huh?” He grinned, “I might need more than that since you look so fucking good. C’mere, girl”
Falling into the arms of him was your favorite parts of the day. Like magnets, your lips found one another. Something soft, sensual, and light. Enough to say: ‘welcome home’.
“Mister Rafe Cameron, you clean up great for the office. Had I known you left looking this good, I would’ve made you stay home”
Rafe Cameron chuckled, his adorable dimples in both of his cheeks. His hands playfully patted your denim blue jean covered ass before walking over to the stove.
“What’s on the menu tonight?”
“Red wine short rib beef tips with some mashed potatoes and broccoli. How’s that sound?”
“Like I need to marry you tomorrow”
You only giggled, blushing wildly. “Well, the crockpot is still going so we’ve gotta wait on that. Shouldn’t be any longer, it’s been going for a while now”
Rafe smiled and approached you, his hands on your waist. You wrapped your arms around his neck.
“So you’re saying we’ve got time?”
You grinned, “a lot of time”
That’s how you and Rafe found yourselves on the living room couch, wine glasses in your hands. You were standing in his lap, his free arm around your waist to keep you in place.
Conversation flowed easily between you and Rafe. No phones just soft music in the background as you and Rafe talked about your day.
You met Rafe Cameron two months into moving away. You were the front desk receptionist to the law firm he was working at.
The interest was mutual once you saw him walk into the building. You remembered him doing a soft double take before introducing himself to you, asking if you were new. It was history ever since then.
He made it a point to learn more about you and softly flirt with you every chance he got. He couldn’t bring himself to not court you. Flowers on the pick up, on the way in was a must fate two weeks of talking and getting to know one another.
He was your confidant and your best friend. To Rafe, you were the light of his life. He seriously had plans of marrying you.
The flowed conversation was cut off by the sound of your crockpot and the doorbell. You and Rafe perked up.
“I’ll get the food, you get the door?” You promoted. Rafe nodded.
“Of course, i got it”
You shuffled off of Rafe and back into the kitchen. You could make out the sounds from the front as you checked on your beef tips— tender and saturated.
“Oh shit, good to see you! You came at the perfect time, dinner’s almost ready”
Your brows softly furrowed. You weren’t expecting company, not your friends from work nor did Rafe tell you anything.
“Hey Dani! Come on by, baby, I want you to meet someone”
Removing your apron, you trotted out of the kitchen, just after alerting Rafe that you were on the way.
Approaching the front door, Rafe stood with another man just as tall as him if not taller. If you were carrying a glass, you would’ve dropped and shattered it. You were surprised your knees didn’t give out.
“Danielle, I want you to meet my new friend from work. This is Cameron Cade, he’s a new analyst exec” Rafe smiled, “Cameron, this is my girlfriend, Danielle”
You stood frozen in place, time reducing down to something impossibly slow. Was this real? That was until he smiled and held out his hand.
“Hi Danielle, I’m Cameron. Nice to meet you, I’ve heard so much about you”

“I’m just glad I’m sitting here with you and you aren’t having my head right now”
Sitting in the booth of your favorite brunch spot, you and Mikayla Wallace were finally touching base. Having put in orders for appetizers and water, you and your best friend were chilling.
It felt really good. It was always a good time with her.
You and Mikayla share a genuine laugh, her arms wrapping you in a hug.
“Girl, please. I’ve heard worse and seen worse within this friend group. Niggas are unfortunately going to be niggas”
You giggled and nodded in agreement. “If it makes you feel better, I got on his ass that next morning like.. cussed him out so bad that he was scared to talk to me for the rest of the day”
Mikayla’s smile never left her face despite her sigh. “How are y’all doing anyway? I was surprised the party still continued after that. I saw you as you were dragging his tall ass out, you were mad—“
“Mad as hell! He made me so upset but we’ve talked since then, we’re better. He’s just.. sometimes he gets into these fits where he swears something bad is going to happen in our relationship and I’m always reassuring him. I have no problem doing that but sometimes his paranoia has him tripping for no reason”
Mikayla nodded understandingly, letting you continue.
“You know he basically spent his early life without his family. He sees his Mom very seldom and.. y’know his Dad died so, I’m always there to be his girlfriend and his best friend ‘cause he really doesn’t have anybody”
Mikayla nodded again. “And I can understand that, I’m not knocking that at all, please hear me clearly when I say that, Dani. I think with the girls and I— our whole thing is he just doesn’t let you live sometimes. Or he swears we don’t respect your relationship and we do!”
You nodded as well, taking the hands of your best friend.
“But there isn’t anything wrong with having your own crowd outside of your relationship. You’re still Danielle Young with or without Cameron Cade— and I know you know that, but does he know that?”
Mikayla’s question was rhetorical but it kept you deep thought even throughout the day.
The brunch date of two easily turned into a girls day when the rest of your girlfriends pulled up. The booth filled up but accommodated all six of you.
For the first time in a while, you felt like you could breathe differently.
Life felt good— your relationship was going well, your job was stable, your bills were paid, and you still had your girlfriends.
You laughed hard, smiled a lot, and enjoyed yourself. So much that time was hardly a thing you thought about..
Brunch turned into shopping at the mall and leaving with bags on top of your to-go package bags. The mall then ended with bowling.
After entering in your names in the respective orders into the monitor, the girls were deciding on food and drinks.
“What are you thinking, Dani?” Mikayla asked, the laminated menu in her hand as she sat next to you.
“Do you wanna split some wings and fries with me? Looks like they’re batching a lot for just one person”
“Hot or mild?”
“Let’s do half and half. One half hot and the other.. honey barbecue? Ranch for that and the fries?”
Mikayla nodded in satisfaction, happy to pay for the food while you paid for the drinks.
Twenty minutes into the game, your food arrived, being sat on the expansive table along with your drinks. Sitting next to Kayla, you were ready to tuck into your food.
You grabbed a regular doused hot wing and as soon as the strong scent filled your nostrils, you immediately put the wing back down.
It felt more than just the hot scent that burned your nose, the smell went straight to your stomach and you wanted to vomit.
“You okay, Dani?” Kayla asked glancing at you, she’d already began eating at one of the wings on the platter. Concern etched on her face.
“I.. I don’t know. Somebody in that kitchen probably used the whole damn bottle of hot sauce on our wings, the smell is just too strong”
Kayla agreed. “You’re probably still full from brunch”
That made sense. You instead focused on the fries and sipped your Sprite carefully. You hated having to throw up, especially when you weren’t in the comfort of your own home. You just had to keep it together.
After hugging and kissing your girlfriends goodbye, you hopped into your car and headed home.
The clock rang 7:00 PM from your car phone, you were tired. The high of today would soon be worn off once you stepped into your apartment.
You smiled at your boyfriend who sat on the couch, he faced the front door, almost like he was expecting you.
“Hi baby” you placed your bags on the kitchen counter and approached him to greet him. “How are you?”
You placed your hands on his shoulder and leaned in to kiss but he pulled back, avoiding it.
“Don’t come in here doin’ that. You didn’t see me callin’ and texting you?”
You frowned and searched for your phone in your purse. Upon expanding the notifications as your phone was in Do Not Disturb, your mouth dropped in surprise.
‘Heart and Soul ❤️’ — missed calls (10)
‘Heart and Soul ❤️’ — messages (20)
“You said you’d be home at 5, why are you walking in this house two hours after what you told me?”
You closed your eyes in building guilt, you fucked up.
You walked back over to your boyfriend, sitting down next to him. The remorse and guilt on your pretty face almost had Cameron Cade crumbling but he knew had to stand firm.
“I’m sorry, baby—“
“C’mon, Danielle” Cameron rolled his eyes. “Were you just not looking at your phone at all?”
“I was with the girls. At first it turned into just Kayla and I, and then Denise, Jackie, and Kiara pulled up and.. I just lost track of time”
All Cameron Cade could do was sigh and shake his head. He felt his anger already bubbling into something worse and he tried his best to chill out.
“I didn’t mean to keep you here worried and stressed out, I swear. You know how it is when I get with the girls, I just be having so much fun that I barely check my phone—“
“And that’s exactly why I don’t like you being with them, Danielle. You don’t see how bad of an influence they can be on you? You’re so invested in them that you can’t check in with me? At least let me know that you’re safe and planning to stay out later?”
You stayed silent, trying not to give Cameron that attitude back because in a way, his anger was justified. You’d be on him the same way if the roles were reversed.
He was right but damn, it was hard to accept.
“I’m sorry” you muttered, “it won’t happen again, I promise”
Cameron Cade took another look at your sad, pouty face. You truly felt bad and he felt he’d grilled you enough.
He sighed and smoothly brought your body into his lap, his arms around your waist. “Look at me” he mumbled, his hand slithering up to gently grab your chin, forcing you to meet his eye.
“I love you, girl and I swear I don’t mean to worry or make you worry whenever you’re out. I want you to have fun, bae, but can you understand why I’m upset?”
You nodded your head vigorously. “Absolutely, that’s why I feel bad. I definitely let time get the best of me but I still should’ve communicated that with you. There’s no excuse, I’m sorry”
Finally, Cameron Cade’s eyes softened and smiled gently. Pulling you by your chin, his lips lovingly captured yours, you felt yourself relax and melt into your boyfriend.
“I forgive you” Cameron mumbled against your lips, still keeping himself close. “Just please talk to me, that’s all I ask”
Nodding, you held your pinky out for him. Your gentle giant chuckled and wrapped his pinky around yours.
“I love you, Cam”
“I love you, Danielle”
.
“Isn’t this outfit so cute? Doesn’t it look good on me?” You called out to Cameron from the bathroom.
Cameron Cade’s approached the opened bathroom, watching you finish touching up your hair. He felt his suspicions begin to raise.
“You look sexy as fuck” he leaned in and kissed the side of your brown lip lined lips, careful not to mess up your makeup. His hand slapping with your ass. “Where you going tonight? I thought we were gonna chill out.. watch some movies and shit”
Still focusing on your hair, you responded. “It’s Kayla’s birthday. We’re all going to dinner together and probably chill at the lounge downtown. I told Kayla my cut off is 10 PM so I’ll be strict, I promise”
Cameron frowned softly. You met his eye through the mirror. “I told you about this a few days ago, you said it was okay as long as I made it back on time.. that’s how we came up with 10 PM”
Cameron Cade remembered and he did okay you going out. But Cameron Cade couldn’t bring himself to give a fuck about that.
He wanted you all to himself.
“Baby, when’s the last time we had a date? Or some actual time to spend together?”
You closed your eyes, “Cameron, please don’t do this—“
“I’m just asking! It feels like the only times we see each other is after we’re working or when we’re fucking. We haven’t spent real time together like you spend with your friends”
“That’s bullshit and you know it. You do this every time I want to go out and that’s really fucked up. I never do this to you when you go out with your coworkers or your friends from college, do I?”
Cameron rolled his eyes, walking out of the bathroom. You only followed him, officially irritated.
“No, answer me! Do I trip on you when you want to go out the way you trip on me?” Cameron Cade didn’t answer, plopping down on the couch.
“No? Exactly. And in my opinion, your friends are even more questionable than mine but do you see me making a big deal? No, you don’t”
You watched your boyfriend ignore your gaze, he was shutting down, you could see it in his body language.
“Can I have this last night and I promise you, it’ll be about you and me for however long”
Cameron didn’t respond, instead you made out his watering eyes and soft red face. Cameron Cade rarely cried, even when he’d have moments of grief over his father’s death, he never cried.. or tried his best not to.
“Cam—“
He waved you off, “nah it’s okay, don’t even worry about it. You’re right, I did agree to you going out so go have fun. Just come back home, please”
He tried to walk past you but you grabbed his arm, stopped him completely. With a cupped hand on his face, you watched a few tears stream down his pretty face.
“Baby, stop it” you swiped a tear with your thumb, “why’re you crying?”
Cameron’s pink tinted eyes met yours, you felt your heart lurch. “I just miss you, Dani. I miss us. I miss us going on dates, I miss us hanging out, I miss everything. Maybe I’m being selfish but you’re my best friend. I have the most fun with you and it’s hard sharing you”
One hand on his face turned into both, your fingers continuing to wipe away his tears. Sympathy coated your insides, you hated that Cameron felt neglected.
“But I don’t want you to think I’m controlling you so please, go have fun. Just text me and come home in one piece. I love you”
Maybe you were being selfish with how much time you weren’t home. Maybe that scale was tipped too far away from your relationship. Maybe Cameron was right.
Standing on your tippy toes, you leaned in and kissed Cameron softly on the lips. His arms stretched around your waist, bringing you close to him. You pulled back to peer into his greenish hazels.
“Okay” you whispered, “I’ll stay. It’s all about me and you tonight, ‘yeah?”
Cameron only kissed you again in response to your words. Like he was saying thank you.
Cameron watched you unravel yourself from him and go back to grab your phone, he heard you sigh quietly. You were already breaking the news to your best friend of your change of plans.
You brushed past him and into your shared bedroom, undressing yourself from your occasion outfit.
In Cameron Cade’s eyes, this was a win. Even if it meant guilt tripping.. even if it meant victimizing a reality of your relationship that wasn’t really a reality… even if it meant forcing out some tears.
He won, that’s all that matters.
.
The more you thought about that night you missed Mikayla’s birthday, the more angrier you grew.
You spent the night with Cameron. You talked, laughed, ate, and finished the night with Cameron burying you deep in your bed.
But that following morning after he kissed you goodbye for work, you stayed in your head.
You actually hadn’t hung out with your friends as much as Cameron tried to accuse you of. You were just as introverted as him and preferred staying in to hang out with him.
Not to mention, you never threw tantrums whenever Cameron wanted to leave the house for some time. No matter how full of shit his own friends were.
The more you thought, the more you realized that Cameron Cade was trying to isolate you. His possessiveness was hidden by an insane amount of toxicity and insecurity.
The night where you left Jacy Kane’s party, where Cameron got into it with your former classmate. He alluded to you cheating on him when really, you were raving about Cameron to the guy.
Your loyalty exceeded more than even Cameron Cade knew. You bent a lot of your boundaries to please him and what was he doing? Accusing you of cheating and icing you out from your friends.
You became standoffish, a bit more short and annoyed with your boyfriend. Not to mention you’d come down with a sickness that had you bed ridden and missing work.
You’d thankfully started feeling better but you had your own plan. You just had to play up being sick a little longer to make it real.
“Can I get you anything, baby?” Cameron leaned down at the edge of the bed to meet your sulking face. His hand pushed your hair back, care in his eyes.
“I’m fine, Cam, thank you” you mumbled just briefly meeting those same eyes. He nodded and kissed your forehead.
“Okay, well text me if you need anything and I’ll drop by. Any updates on your tests results? Is it the flu or something?”
You shook your head. “Nothing yet but I can smell and taste so I don’t think it’s Covid. I just don’t feel good right now, Cam”
He nodded and kissed your head again. “I know, bae. Call me if you need anything at all”
You sent him the fakest smile you could muster up, he still was in hot water with you. You waited a ten minutes after the front door closed and locked before hauling yourself up.
Your patience was thin and you had enough. You texted Mikayla and told her you were coming over, you just had to pack some bags.
And packed you did. Clothes, body products, hair products, you had to make sure you had enough to suffice.
You sat your bags on the couch and sat there waiting. Before you could depart to Kayla’s, you wanted to give Cameron Cade a piece of your mind.
.
It felt like forever when Cameron came in the door. You sat on the couch next to your bags, dressed in basic lounge clothes, and ready to go.
“Hey baby” Cameron mumbled, his sights taking in the scene in front of him. “What’s this?”
You sighed. “I’m going to Kayla’s for a little bit and you’re not stopping me. I need space, Cameron. Lately it feels like you’ve been trying to control my life and dictate what I get to do with and without you, and I can’t do that anymore”
Cameron Cade stood silently, letting you rant. But his calm demeanor threw you off a little bit, only because you didn’t know what to expect.
“I’m not saying we need to break up but I need you in the doghouse until I’m ready to let you out. I’ve been nothing but loyal and supportive of your needs and you can’t meet mine without an issue. I’m done”
You watched Cameron nod, still not saying anything.
“You don’t have anything to say?” You prompted now standing in the middle of the living room.
Cameron opened his mouth and closed it. He instead walked over to one of the drawers in the kitchen, revealing a set of papers.
“Would you believe me if I said I saw this coming?” He flipped through the papers until he came upon a specific page.
“And not because of my actions in the way you think but because.. I planned all of this..”
Cameron stalked towards you, the paper in his hand. “All I had to do was cause a ‘lil tension.. argue a bit more.. maybe shed a few tears and become way more insufferable enough for you to want to break up with me. I drove you to this feeling on purpose”
Your heart only sunk deeper into your chest as Cameron spoke more. None of what he was saying was making any sense.
“And why? Because as much as you think you’re leaving me.. you’re not leaving me, Danielle. Not with this”
You watched your boyfriend hold the paper out for you to take, and when you did, you wanted to faint.
It was more than the test results to your swabs of Covid or flu strains but.. a positive HCG test result. You were—
“I know how you feel about abortion, you wouldn’t kill my baby” the sickest smirk pulled on Cameron’s face. He caught sight of your teary eyes, still staring at the positive test result.
“I already loved the feeling of cumming inside of you but when I saw that you started putting your hoe ass friends before me, I knew I had to speed up our future a bit faster. A future without them in it”
The tears finally came down your cheeks. “You trapped me?”
His hands came down on your shoulders, his lips near your ear. “I secured you.. to me and me only. We made this baby out of nothing but love and you do know how much I love you, Danielle”
Finally looking from the paper, you met the eyes of the man you thought you knew. His greenish hazels went a shade dark, his presence no longer comforted you but instead scared you.
Because he was right.. you were insanely pro choice but you know if you had the choice, you wouldn’t resort to abortion. You’d grow and raise your child no matter the circumstances.
To know Cameron got you pregnant on purpose simply to keep you bound to him was enough to make you want to die.
You felt his hand reach under your sweater and caress the smallest pudge in your stomach, it sent shivers down your spine.
“I know you still love me somewhere.. deep down. I know somewhere within you is actually excited about this, you’ve always talked about being a mother. You’re just a little mad at daddy and that’s okay, you’ll get over it”
He cupped your face in his huge hands and took your lips into his. The kiss was a sensual rhythm like Cameron Cade was putting a spell on you. You felt more tears burn your eyes and slide down your cheeks.
“..You’ll get over it and eventually you’ll understand my thinking. But for now? Right now? You’re gonna take your purse off..”
Cameron moved his hands up from your stomach and cupped your breasts, his fingers brushing over your sensitive nipples, drawing out a hiss from you.
“.. take your hair down..” he kissed your lips, “..get out of those clothes until the only thing I’m seeing is that necklace.. and lay right on that bed..” another kiss.
“..I think I wanna show you why I know you’re not leavin’ me..”
“It ain’t none of your friends business what we will be doing tonight”

“Are you free tomorrow night? Little miss Jacy is having a party at her place. She invited Denise and I, and said any of our friends are good to tag along”
Sitting at your desk in your bedroom, you typed more work out onto your Mac Book.
Currently, you were entering in some analytics and more data input. Today was a work from home day which meant you had more liberty to chit chat with Mikayla— your best friend since high school.
Your iPhone stood propped up next to your Mac Book so Kayla could see you and you could see her.
“Tomorrow’s Friday.. yeah I’ll be there. No deadlines or need to complete anything urgent.. but I mean, we’ll see what my morning looks like for work. But more than likely, I’ll be able to come by”
You entered in another analytic into your spreadsheet, almost done with your work.
“She must not be charging a cover fee to let people invite other people” You mumbled. Jacy Kane was known for throwing ragers and charging her guests— you couldn’t blame her.
“I checked her flyer for any hidden ass messages about a cover and I don’t see anything. You should get to just walk in”
You nodded. “Okay.. yeah I’m there. Send me her flyer for the other details, I can get that figured out after work”
Mikayla celebrated on the other side of the screen, making you giggle.
“Don’t get too excited, now. You know I’m a packaged deal right?”
Mikayla’s smile dropped, a groan slipping out as she tossed her head back. You only shook your head and smiled. Kayla didn’t have to ask for more information.
“Why—“
“Aht aht, you’re not new to this so don’t even start complaining. You know that’s just how Cameron rolls and with the parties we go to, I’m going to bring my six foot five inch body guard every time”
“But every time you bring him, I never leave with something fine to take home. Your nigga be scaring the other niggas and that shit is not cool, Dani”
Your smile stayed plastered on your face and your head shook, despite the growing irritation from your friend on the phone.
Any speak of Cameron Cade with your small group of girlfriends was always a trigger. A trigger you could acknowledge but you never really saw why.
“He can’t help that he’s a tall ass dude.. taller than everybody in the room. He’s just not with the bullshit because again.. Jacy’s parties attract the wrong kinds of niggas”
Mikayla groaned. “But those be the ones I try to court, Danielle”
Before you could retort, the front door of your apartment suddenly rang with the sound of keys jingling in the lock. Your insides began to flutter, you knew what that meant and who that was.
Soon, Cameron Cade was entering your shared apartment. He kicked off his shoes and calmly walked into your bedroom, a soft smile on his lips.
“Speaking of” your smile a bit bashful but beaming, “hi baby”.
Still sitting, you met Cameron halfway as he bent down to meet you. You wrapped your arms around his neck, bringing him into the frame for Mikayla to see.
“Mikayla’s on the phone” you muttered to your boyfriend, who gave Mikayla a simple wave. No words, just a wave.
Mikayla only waved back, no words either.
Cameron Cade really wanted to roll his eyes. Even more, he wanted to hang up the phone entirely.
Cameron Cade didn’t like your friends but Mikayla might be the one he disliked the most.
Now smirking, Cameron turned to face you and pressed his lips to yours fully. Your mouths moved perfectly in sync, enough to put a spell on you.
You pulled back before things could intensify. “How was your day?”
Cameron pressed a kiss to the side of your head. “My day was cool. I’ll tell you later though.. I’ll let you get back to your call”
“Actually, I gotta go anyway, Dani. My apartment is dirty and I’m not sleeping like this so I need to clean. Keep me posted about tomorrow night”
You nodded, “I should be good to go, Kay but I’ll let you know. I’ll talk to you tomorrow”
Mikayla Wallace blew you a kiss and bid you a goodnight before ending the FaceTime call. You stood from your desk, closed your laptop, and met your boyfriend in the living room.
“I’m all yours, my love” you perched yourself on his lap, arm circling his neck and caressing his face. “How was your day? How was coaching?”
Cameron Cade finally felt like he was able to relax. Able to unclench his jaw and drop his shoulders, that’s just what you did to him. You felt the ease finally dawn on him, his arms circling your waist.
“My day was good but it’s always better getting to come home to you”. That earned him a sweet kiss to his neck. “Not to eavesdrop on you and her but what’s happening tomorrow night?”
You ignored the way Cameron emphasized ‘her’. You wished you understood why both parties hated each other so much.
“Jacy Kane is throwing a party and Mikayla invited me”
Cameron eyed you. “And you’re going?”
You nodded, meeting his gaze. “I’ll be able to come home and get ready, I have to be at the office tomorrow”
His hands caressed the skin of your waist just past the waistband of both your sweats and panties. Cameron nodded but you could sense his hesitation.
“Okay.. and she knows protocol, right? She should since she’s always the one bitchin’ and complainin’ about it”
You nodded. “She’s familiar, baby, I promise. She knows everywhere she sees me, you’re not far behind”
That earned you a soft pat to your clothed ass. “Good girl. I know you’re probably tired of me saying it but it’s true. I trust you, I don’t trust these niggas and I don’t trust these hoes. I can never expect for ‘muhfuckas to be on their best behavior if I’m not around. You know that—“
You cupped his face and pecked his lips. “I know, I know, I know. Trust me, I get it. I really wouldn’t want it any other way—“
Cameron Cade gripped your ass tight and met your eyes through your prescription glasses.
“And you’re not having it any other way, y’know that. If I can’t come with, you’re not going, that’s it”
You swallowed but nodded nonetheless. It wasn’t like Cam controlled you, his possessiveness always had him acting larger than you.
He never dictated what you wore, how you styled your hair, if you were to wear makeup on some days. He let you be free.. except when it came to your social life with your friends.
He was fine with your solo dates and if your friends did lowkey things together. He’d just call and text you nonstop despite having your location… and forcing you to put his purchased AirTag in your car..
Your friends weren’t the kind of girls to get you in trouble. All of you had shit to lose and being in those situations wouldn’t end well for the whole group. They were sweet, nice, and the most coolest set of girlfriends you’d ever had.
And yet, Cameron Cade couldn’t bring himself to feel the same way.
.
“Are you sure that you even wanna go out tonight?” Cameron sat on your bed facing you.
You stood completely dressed and ready, now dousing yourself in perfume. Cameron’s favorite— Donna Karen’s Cashmere Mist.
“I can’t convince you with weed, good dick, and whatever food you want on DoorDash?”
You only giggled and approached him, standing in between his legs with your hands on his shoulders. Like magnets, Cameron’s hands found your hips.
“Can you promise me that afterwards?” Finally, your boyfriend cracked just a little smile. You leaned in and softly pecked his lips. “Give me an hour and thirty to get a feel for the party and we can dip out. Can we shake on that?”
You weren’t a party girl at all but you loved a pop out every once in a while. You weren’t even the type to stay until the owners were kicking people out, you always left a party or a club early.
You held out your hand and watched your boyfriend playfully sigh before slipping his huge hand into yours and shaking. He soon gripped your hand and pulled you back into him, his lips now hungry and kissing you breathless.
You pulled back and found Cameron Cade’s ear. “Just give me that time and when we get home, you can have me all over this house.. ‘be real loud just like you like it..”
When Cameron hissed and cautiously smacked your ass, all you could do was grin.
“Yeah let’s go before I take you down and we skip this fuckin’ party”
.
With Cameron’s hand in yours and keeping you close, you approached the jumping house party. People were outside with red solo cups in their hands— some were talking, some were smoking.
You knew you were in the right spot.
Walking in with Cameron trailing behind you, your eyes immediately sought out your friends in the midst of the many bodies. A soft fog filled the space, strobe lights everywhere.
“Oh, they’re right over there! Can you see them, bae?” You asked your boyfriend who towered over everybody damn near.
He bent down in your ear, “I see ‘em, just keep walking and I’ll get you there. Stay close to me, a’ight?”
You nodded and gripped his hand a bit tighter. The more you walked, the more people filtered in and out, Jacy’s house parties were always jumping.
Hip Hop and R&B music flowed from her speakers and throughout the house. You bobbed your head as you walked.
After what felt like hours, you finally found your friends. Mikayla, Jade, Kiara, Denise, and Jackie stood in their own corner. They all smiled and waved when they saw you.
Cameron understood when you dropped his hand to run over to them. He stood at a decent distance and watched. They all hugged you, complimented your outfit and hair.
It was like Cameron wasn’t even there and honestly? The man preferred it that way. Every last one of them knew what it was with him being there, almost all of them weren’t fond of Cameron either so they didn’t speak.
You’d caught the vibe a while ago and just stopped introducing him. They knew him and he knew them, that was all you needed.
“.. okay, sure, let me ask.. baby?” Your voice put Cameron back in reality, his brows raised and awaiting your response. “Do you want anything to eat or drink? Jacy’s got food and shit”
Your boyfriend shook his head, his eyes soft and full of love the more they were set on you. It was everything about you that he couldn’t quit, Cameron Cade was in love. Even in moments like this, you were so sweet.
“Nah, I’m good, bae, thank you though. You gettin’ food?” He asked and when you nodded, he held his hand out. You only smiled and blushed, happily slipping your hand into his.
“I’ll be right back, y’all!” You called out to your friends.
You and Cameron made it to the kitchen— Jacy had pizza and small little snacks on the table. Her counter filled with both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
“I’m probably not gonna drink tonight, I’m not in the mood. I’ll just cradle some Sprite or Pepsi in my cup” You said out loud, navigating the empty kitchen area.
Cameron Cade only nodded, staying silent. He loved a party as much as the next person but he was fine with leaving that life aside when he found you.
He just wanted you and you only. No party could give him that feeling that you did. But whenever he went nonverbal, you knew he was shutting down.
“You sure you don’t want any food, bae?” You stood in front of your boyfriend with two pizza slices and a red solo cup full of cherry Pepsi. “We can share mine if you want?”
Cameron Cade smiled and shook his head. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to your lips, trying to reassure you that he was okay.
“I promise I’m good. Y’know I’m waiting until we get home to eat on other things..”
You blushed and turned away from him, a smile on your face. “You are disgusting. Come on and let’s have a little fun, yeah? I can tell you’re getting a little uptight. Cmon and dance with me”
.
And dancing you did.
After eating your food, you bounced back from dancing with your friends to dancing with Cameron who stood like your personal security guard.
With your back to his chest, your hands threaded together, you swayed to the beat of ‘I’m Sprung’ by T-Pain.
Despite the feeling of you being so close and watching you have fun, Cameron Cade was growing more annoyed by the second. Annoyed at the fact that more people kept pouring into the house, annoyed that some people could say ‘excuse me’, and more annoyed that you weren’t trying to call it a night yet.
And if he wasn’t irritated before, he was irritated watching you pull from him and mix into the crowd. It seemed like he looked away for a second and you were gone.
You didn’t say what you were going to the kitchen for more food but simply untangled yourself from him and left.
And in replace of you was Mikayla Wallace. She looked at him and he fought the urge to roll his eyes. He smacked his lips, eyes still looking over the sea of people to find you.
“When are you ever gonna lighten up, nigga? You know Dani is good with us when she wants to go out, you don’t have to come with her every time”
Cameron huffed. “I’on trust y’all, simple”
Mikayla blanched, “And I don’t trust you. Her social life isn’t healthy because of you. Danielle is grown and already has a Dad. All I’m asking is for you to let her breathe because clearly you need to do that for her”
Cameron shrugged, “I’ll breathe when she drops y’all. That’s all I gotta say”
“Boy, fuck you” Mikayla said and turned on her heels, walking away. If that didn’t irritate Cameron Cade, it was the fact that you still hadn’t returned.
He already didn’t want to be here and here you were bullshitting. Moving through the crowd, Cameron made a beeline for the kitchen and the sight had his heart dropping.
You stood against the counter with another pizza in your hand and talking to someone he didn’t recognize. Not even a stranger but another guy.
You were smiling and laughing.. and so was the dude. When your eyes met, you lit up. “And speaking of him, there he is!”
You slithered over to his side and tried to hug him but Cameron shook his head, stepping back from you.
“Nah, yo, what’re you doing?” Cameron scolded, “why’d you just dip on me like that without telling me where you were goin’?”
You looked taken aback, a soft frown in your eyebrows. “Cameron, what—“
“You know better, Danielle. I’on know these people in here and it’s too many of them to keep up. At least let me know what you’re tryna do, girl”
You felt a bud of guilty creep in your chest and immediately, you tried to make it right. Putting your food down, you tried to take your boyfriend’s hand. But he wasn’t having it.
“Baby, don’t be like that, please. I’m sorry—“
“Y’know I didn’t even wanna come here— you know I didn’t even want you here. All I ask is for you let me know what you’re tryna do, I could’ve lost you!”
And again, if Cameron wasn’t pissed off initially, it could’ve been the sound of the guy still standing there that had the nerve to interject himself in the conversation.
“C’mon bruh, she already apologized”
Cameron Cade blanched, looking at the dude who stood about 5 inches from him. “And who the fuck are you? This is between me and my lady. You should’ve walked away as soon as I walked in”
The dude turned square to your boyfriend. “But you’re talking to her crazy and that’s not even necessary, I can’t just stand here and listen to that, especially because it’s not a big deal”
You again reached for Cameron’s hand. “Yeah, bae, he’s just a former classmate from college, that’s it. We were just chopping it up, I was about to come back, I just wanted more food, that’s it”
Cameron Cade looked at you. Sincerity danced in your eyes and he almost crumbled. But he was still to angry.
“Yeah bruh, that’s all it was. You ain’t have to come pressin’ her like that—“
Cameron huffed out a sarcastic laugh and pinched the bridge of his nose. “I can do whatever the fuck I want with my woman because she’s mine. Real shit, I don’t give a fuck where you know her from, don’t come tryna give me advice about what we do. Just shut the fuck up, that’s what you can do”
When the guy took a step towards Cameron threateningly, you immediately slid in between the two with your arms out.
“Stop, we’re not doing that, not at this house” you turned towards Cameron, “what is wrong with you? Why are you acting like this? Are you ready to go home now like you been wanting? Because I am, you’re pissing me off”
You forcefully took Cameron’s hand and began walking, pulling him to walk with you.
“Yeah, Danielle, gon’ ahead and get him outta here—“
Before you could react, Cameron Cade was fast. His fist was faster. It was swift with the way it collided across the guy’s face, sitting him right on his ass.
“Ay, I told you to shut the fuck up, didn’t I?!” Cameron yelled. It suddenly got the attention of surrounding people at the party, including your friends. “Didn’t I? And look what happened. Pick ‘yo ass up—“
“Cameron, let’s go! Now!” You yelled, tugging on his arm. Finally, your boyfriend relented and followed you out.
Once outside, you walked to the car. “Are you fucking serious, Cameron? What is wrong with you?!”
“What’s wrong with me? Me?! I’m in that fuckin’ house worried about you and I find you talkin’ to another nigga? And you’re defending that nigga?!”
You had enough but there was a time and a place for everything. “Give me the fucking keys so we can go home, since you wanted that so badly. I can’t even have fun without you causing some bullshit”
Cameron clenched his jaw, anger still steaming off of him. He simply tossed you the keys like you asked.
The drive back home was quiet and charged. You tried to calm yourself down but the more you thought about the situation, the more it pissed you off.
.
You stormed into your apartment and already began taking off your shoes. Cameron right behind you.
“You don’t get to have an attitude with me, Danielle” Cameron began, “you left me without saying shit and got the nerve to be stickin’ up for some nigga i’on even know”
Cameron followed you to your bedroom as you began stripping out of your outfit and into something more comfortable.
“That’s not even the point. I can admit I was wrong for just leaving you like that and I apologized to you but it’s the way you acted then and even before this”
“And what is that supposed to mean?”
Finally dressed, you stood before your boyfriend looking at him like he grew three heads. “Why is it always an issue with you when I want to have fun with my friends? You can never chill out or have fun with us—“
“Because I don’t like them!” Cameron’s voice raised, “I don’t like them, I don’t trust them, and I don’t trust them around you!”
“How come?! They don’t do anything to you or to me! Have you forgotten that I’ve known almost all of them since my first year of college? Kayla since high school? I can determine if they’re good fits for me, Cameron, not you”
You pushed past him and into the kitchen, Cameron following.
“Still though. I feel like they always got something to say about our relationship and giving their two cents when it’s not fucking needed. Especially Mikayla. Always got her nose turned up whenever I’m around and I don’t like that shit. I feel like she’s actively trying to turn you against me and tryna find a reason to break us up”
You gave Cameron that same look from earlier. “Cameron, are you serious?”
“Dead fucking serious”
You pressed your fingers to your temple, briefly closing your eyes. This couldn’t be a real conversation you were having.
“And you think I’d let her do that? Come between you and me? Like I’m letting her guide my life?”
Cameron shrugged. “She’s still your friend so—“
“Cameron Cade, don’t play with me. Now you’re just saying shit because you’re mad. You got some weed or do you need me to order some? You hungry? I’ll cook right now. Because you need to chill out”
Cameron Cade only stood and watched you stare at him, awaiting his decision.
He wasn’t making any sense. This weird paranoia he had was becoming too much, he clearly wasn’t thinking straight.
“Nah.. because now I feel like you’re not even trying to understand or hear me. Clearly your friends mean more to you than your boyfriend”
You only rolled your eyes.
“I’ll leave” he shrugged. “I’ll leave, we can break up, and I’ll give you the space Mikayla wants you to have so bad”
You crossed your arms and watched the tall man shrug again, his hands in his pockets. He clearly wanted you to beg.. and you weren’t that kind of woman.
“Okay” you simply said. “You know that’s not true and that’s not what I want but if you believe that, okay”
Cameron looked slightly taken aback. “That’s all you gotta say?”
You nodded and turned towards the fridge, you reached in and grabbed a water bottle. “I’m not playing with you. You’re still angry and being irrational and I’m not dealing with that. Be mad by yourself, you know how to make it back here”
You tried to walk past him to go back to your bedroom but Cameron Cade was faster.
Snatching the water bottle out of your hands and throwing it, he scooped you up and planted you on the kitchen island.
His lips were on yours heatedly, his hands everywhere on your body. Of course you melted, of course you didn’t fight him.
Your legs locked around his waist, arms around his neck, and your kisses matching his energy. His tongue swiped at your bottom lip, you happily welcomed his tongue.
You moaned as Cameron pulled back, his lips now finding your neck. You moaned again, manicured hands caressing the back of his buzzed head.
“Mhm, you ‘gon make it up to me?” You smiled, biting your lip. Your back arched when he found your spot, your body buzzing in pure pleasure.
Before you knew it, Cameron was pulling away, his hand replacing his lips and gripping your neck. He stared down at you, watching your smile only grow wider.
“You better shut that smart ass mouth up ‘fore I do somethin’ crazy”
One of your hands closed over his hand on your throat. You had that look in your eye that made his pants tight.
“Do it.. I might just like it..”
He stared some more at you before breaking out into a smile just as sinister as yours. Pulling you by the throat, his lips found yours again.
.
It must’ve been the anger from both of you that had time compressing into nothing. From kissing in the kitchen to aggressively stripping yourselves naked.
From stripping yourselves naked to kissing some more to Cameron watching you drop to your knees and begin blowing him. Your mouth was full, hands working his base what you couldn’t fit in your mouth.
His hand on the back of your head keeping you steady on his cock. Up and down, up and down. Your boyfriend grunted and groaned, still shit talking.
“You hear that? That silence? I love that shit. I’on gotta hear that smart ass mouth because I got my dick full of it”
Soon after you were splayed on your back, legs dangling off of Cameron’s shoulders as he buried his face in your pussy.
His skilled mouth and fingers successfully pulled an orgasm from you. Maybe you were so pissed off and worked up, the heated energy sending you deep into that abyss.
When Cameron emerged and hovered over you, you reached out and wiped at his bottom lip.
“Your mouth is good for something when you’re not bitching at me”
Cameron Cade growled out a laugh and handled your body onto your stomach, he slapped your ass hard, watching the recoil.
With one hand on your head and keeping the side of your face in the bed, he spread your legs open and shoved himself deep within you.
His pace wasn’t nice either. It was hard and rough, so much that your bed began moving. Your headboard smacking consistently against the wall.
“You ‘gon stop talkin’ to me like you lost your goddamn mind. Fuck got into you, huh?” Cameron growled. His thrusts were unforgiving and you were sickly enjoying it.
Cameron made out a giggle in the midst of your loud moans. He slapped your ass again.
“Mhm.. you want me to apologize, daddy? Want me to say sorry cause I hurt your feelings?”
That earned you another slap to your ass, harder this time. You know it would leave a mark.
Cameron Cade fucked you harder and deeper, so much that your brain felt like it was turning into mush. There weren’t a lot of moments where you two were going at it like this, typically Cameron Cade liked making love to you.
“Y’know what? I think I do. ‘Getcho ass up”
Cameron took you up by your hair and hauled you both to the attached bathroom. Cameron kicked your legs open and pushed himself back inside of you, your hands grabbed at the granite counter.
“I wanna hear you say you’re sorry” Cameron rasped in your ear as he began pumping, this time his thrusts were agonizingly slow.
You hated how pathetic your whine was. “In my eyes, seein’ you with that other nigga felt like you were cheating on me. This my pussy, right?”
Cameron had you bent over, your elbows supporting your body on the granite. He mounted over you and grabbed your jaw harshly.
“You better listen to me or guess what? You’re not cumming at all tonight. You better answer me, girl” he slapped your ass again, “look at me, is this my pussy?”
You nodded, eyes meeting your boyfriend’s in the mirror. “Yes, baby”
“I can do whatever I want with you and to you because this pussy is mine?”
Your eyes squeezed shut at the feeling of Cameron finally speeding up. Your body jolted in his hold.
“Yes, Cam!”
You watched your boyfriend smirk. “Yeah? You’re sorry for disrespecting me tonight? For getting me out of character like that?”
You nodded. “I’m s-sorry, baby” you said pathetically, eyes blown in lust and staring at your boyfriend who you stupidly loved so much.
“Mhm, so fuckin’ pretty, baby.. you love me?”
“Yes!”
Cameron eyed you, you could see the wheels turning in his head and before you could think, he was hauling you back up and back into your bed.
“I’m all you need?”
“Yes, Cameron”
Legs over his shoulders, body hovering over you. Cameron grabbed your phone.
“Yeah? I’on think I believe you but it’s okay, imma make an example outta you”
You watched Cameron unlock your phone and within seconds, you were hearing the call ring loudly. Your eyes went wide once Cameron turned the phone to you.
It was Mikayla’s contact screen being called.
You tried to reach up and grab the device but Cameron stopped you with a hand to your throat, keeping you pinned on the bed. To your horror, Mikayla actually answered.
“Dani?” She called out. Cameron chuckled. “You there, babe?”
“Oh she’s here.. talk to her, baby”
In that same moment, Cameron pushed back inside of you, snatching a deep moan from you against your will. He began fucking you.
“She’s here, Kayla, don’t worry” Cameron grunted, his hips snapping to touch every crevice inside of you. “She a lil busy right now though”
And despite the growing embarrassment, you couldn’t bring yourself to shut up. You were so loud just how Cameron loved it.
“‘mma let you know, Kayla” Cameron huffed out a groan, his brows creasing in pleasure. Your soaking.. tight walls were clamping around him something serious. “Danielle is good, good here with me, okay? I’m all she needs and I take real good care of her. Don’t I, baby?”
All you could do was cry out, his hand on your throat squeezed harder. You nodded for him.
“That’s a good girl..” he leaned down and quickly kissed you. “You hear me, Kayla? You hear her? She won’t be coming like that no more”
Cameron hung up and tossed your phone to the other side of your king sized bed, fully giving you his attention.
You felt him close in on you, his chest to your chest, lips brushing against yours. His lower half still powering and pushing you closer and closer to your release.
“I meant that..” he kissed your lips, “I just want you all to myself, baby. Nobody else, nothing else..”
Your legs tightened around his waist out of instinct, you were so close. Cameron could tell. He felt your orgasm was deserved.
“I love you, Danielle”
“I love you too, Cam” you replied back almost immediately.
Your orgasm was mind blowing and enough to make you see stars. You clung to Cameron desperately and tightly, your throat dry from your cries.
Cameron was right behind you. “Fuck, I’m cumming, baby”
He pushed himself even deeper before howling out. His thrusts stuttered and slowed, his stream coming out in constant spurts before becoming sporadic.
You were so out of it, you were on the brink of falling into a deep sleep. You felt Cameron peck your lips affectionately, words on his lips.
“Swear one of these days, ‘m gonna knock you up..”
You made out a laugh at the end of that statement but you couldn’t focus on anything else.
author's note: the poll was extremely in favor of a bo chow x reader, and i was feeling inspired to write a little something lusty with a pinch of angst. deviates from canon of course, and the timeline is flexible. hope y'all enjoy! i wrote this quickly and skimmed through to proofread so apologies if i missed anything
Butter. A whole 'nother trip to the store because you didn’t buy enough butter. The cornbread would be nothing without it, and you had no business hosting Sunday dinner without it. And that’s why you pushed through the frustration of stepping back out into the sweltering heat once more, huffing only to yourself so people wouldn’t go around whispering about how grouchy you were. Word ‘round Clarksdale got around like wildfire, and reputations were hard to reconstruct. It’s how the twins kept their status on coldhearted gangsters, and why you kept your lips pursed.
Normally, if you weren’t in a time crunch, you go back to Jiffy’s Grocer on the further side of town. The prices were decent and they treat you like family down there. But it was a hike from your current neck of the woods, and you were racing the clock against the roast chicken you kept in the oven on your dash out the door. Just this once, you’d have to go to Bo’s store.
The people of Clarksdale loved his stores. Business was always booming, and his fiancée knew exactly how to work the whites only storefront. Oftentimes, they’re regarded as the perfect match— and that was exactly why you avoided them at all costs.
It all felt like a million years ago, but it was only eight short years ago when you were calling Bo yours. Every Wednesday for months, you’d swish into his shop, the Black side, ready with money in hand for his priciest vanilla and another sack of flour. He knew you and your grandmother were the ones behind the underground cookie business Mary was running. She got 10% of the profits just for being the face, so that white customers wouldn’t have to contend with the fact that their sweet tooth was being fed by Black women. It was lucrative enough for you not to care.
You were smart with your money, and Bo was too loyal to say anything to anyone. He admired your wit, your drive, your passion. It didn’t take him long to work up the courage to ask you out on a proper date, one with drinking and blues music and half the town watching his hand sneakily graze your derrière. It didn’t matter how different the two of you were under the scorching lights of Mezzanine’s— he was your Bo.
But you should’ve known it wouldn’t have lasted. Bo was too public facing to have a Black wife, and both of you knew it. His white customers would never buy from a Black worker, and he didn’t even like the idea of leaving you to brave the shop on your own. Things were changing in Clarksdale by the day, and he wasn’t gonna gamble on your life.
Choosing the store over you was the end of the whirlwind romance, and the beginning of the whispers from fellow patrons. It no longer served you to shop there, to be reminded of him and his annoyingly handsome face all of the time. And when your grandmother passed, you didn’t dare read the note he sent with the egregiously large bouquet he sent to the house. All curiosity died the second you saw him toting Grace around town, taking her to all the places he took you first. Clarksdale was small, and your only guaranteed respite during the early stages of their relationship was during your grocery shopping.
Crossing your fingers, your gloved hands gently pushed open the front door. It had been years since you last saw him, and today didn’t have to be any different if you were quick enough. You winced at the sharp ding! that alerted your entry. So much for slipping in unannounced. The store was crowded, customers whizzing through pockets of space around others and all the while concealing themselves; your timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
There was a fridge of butter right near the checkout counter, and the line was short enough for you to get out sooner than you could’ve hoped. You grabbed a few extra sticks just to avoid the possibility of repeating history, and you kept your face hidden behind the rim of your hat.
“Here, I’ll take over. Next!”
It was unmistakable, that drawl of his. Goosebumps rippled across your skin as you lifted your chin to see him staring back at you expectantly. He was already searching your every feature when you locked eyes, recognition washing over him in a glacial wave of disbelief. His mouth was left ajar as you placed all the butter in front of him, heat rising to your cheeks. “You’ll catch flies that way, Bo.”
He stuttered, glancing around the room to see if anyone was watching the two of you. “Where did you go?” His voice was just above a whisper, the instability evident is his quiver. Eight years apart and that was the first question out of his mouth.
“You think I wanted to stick around and watch you two live happily ever after? I made changes.”
You were never this stoic with him. Bo was used to the you who couldn’t stand to be apart from him, who couldn’t help but giggle if he looked at you too long. He was used to you using any and every excuse to kiss him, touch him, lick him. Nothing about your cold distance was normal.
Except it was normal. The new normal. He has a new woman in his life to crave him, to love him, to intertwine with him. It couldn’t be you anymore because he’d made sure of that.
“Can we talk?”
You stuck out the exact change for your items, refusing to look him in the eyes again. His eyes were too powerful, their emotion too potent. You weren’t here for him, you remind yourself. Butter. Just butter. “I’d like a small bag if you have one.”
“___. Will you forget about the damn butter?”
You huffed loudly, dropping the money on the counter to grab the butter and make a dash for it. He couldn’t force you to talk to him, and you still had a chicken to baste. “Goodbye.”
Bo knew better than to yell after you. Grace would hear all about his improper power struggle of a woman she knew nothing about. He’d buried his past with you so he’d never have to revisit it; out of sight, out of mind. If only love were truly that easy to manage.
It was nothing but the grace of your ancestors that the chicken hadn’t dried out in the time it took you to get back to your secluded home. You still had about an hour left to prepare for your guests, and it seemed futile against the constant reminder of Bo. These dinners were something the two of you started together as a way of making extra effort to connect with your friends and loved ones. You loved hosting and you loved the glimpse of your future that it brought you. A lifetime of Bo Chow distracting you with kisses and sly touches, helping you clean up since he was a sous chef at best.
The scars on your memories ran deep, but you had mastered the art of pretending they hadn’t. Your friends were careful not to mention his existence which you were eternally grateful for. You healed, you grew new roots. New traditions. A new life, a beautiful one, without. You couldn’t help the Bo shaped storm cloud that lingered every now and then, but you could be ready with shelter.
Gumbo, cornbread, chicken and greens. A freshly baked pecan pie bubbling in the oven. The timer went off just as the first of your friends knocked at the door. You were expecting Sylvie since she was always the first to arrive, but the door opened to reveal no such thing. In front of Sylvie, Annie, Smoke, Simone, Albie, and Michael was none other than Bo Chow. Holding flowers, no less.
“I-I forgot about Sunday dinners.”
Your friends cleared their throats, making their way around him and into your home as he stood at the doorstep gawking at you. “What are you doin’ here, Bo? Don’t you got a store to run?” The hesitation in his response led you to believe Grace was running the store in his place, which only served to make the present moment feel that much more ridiculous. “Say something, don’t just stand there.”
“I shoulda never ended things with us, ___,” he pushed the flowers on you, stepping closer to you underneath the door frame. “Look, I know how this sounds. I know I look like a piece a’ shit comin’ to you like this, but I can’t make the same mistake twice. I still love you, dammit.”
The flowers were the last thing on your mind as he pulled you into his arms and kissed your forehead, sweeping you in his embrace like you were still his. Your friends were surely listening from just around the corner but you couldn’t bring yourself to care. He was holding you again, confessing that he still loves you. Eight years vanished in an instant, all with the soothing sincerity of his voice and the soft juxtaposition of his calloused hands on your body. One dinner wouldn’t hurt.
“I tell ya, I ain’t neva seen nothin’ like it!”
The table erupted in laughter at Bo’s anecdote, silverware chiming against the plates in the background of his story. All was forgiven amidst the chuckles and tears of fellowship, at least it seemed that way. No one took notice of the way Bo was squeezing your hand under the table, or the way he’d whisper a compliment of innuendo in your ear when it was someone else’s turn to speak.
“I like this dress on you,” his breath against your ear made you shudder, eyes threatening to close from the intimacy. “You already know that, though. Bet you remember that night like it was yesterday.”
Time stood still at the memory. The twins invited anyone with a pulse to come celebrate their birthday, and Bo had just bought you a new dress. An elegant sea of lilac satin, squaring your neck and plunging ever so slightly in the back. It cascaded your curves perfectly, framing your physique in a way that made his mouth water every time you moved in it. You’d spent half the night glued to Bo, material of the dress bunched around your hips as he fucked into you frenziedly. Only Stack suspected where you disappeared off to when he plucked a twig from your slightly disheveled hair. You winced at the memory of being so young together.
You felt your nipples harden through the thin material of said dress, the flashbacks of your slippery thighs quivering around his waist too much to bear. It was like you were there again, even just for a fragment of space and time, returning back to the way he ravished you. His lips peppering kisses along the column of your throat, one hand massaging your breast underneath your gown. If anyone saw the two of you it would be the talk of the town, the kind of scandal that was life ruining. But it only fueled the fire between you, thriving on the nerves of someone wandering across you.
It was electric, and it was off limits to think about now. That Bo only lives in the corners of your mind now that Grace has a ring on her finger, and a quick declaration before Sunday night's feast couldn’t change that. It was all talk so far, and it had to stay that way until you saw the walk.
The flush left your face as you sipped on iced tea, pulling the hair away from your neck. Bo could tell you weren’t as unaffected as you feigned, smirking to himself as he took another bite of gumbo. The way you shifted in your seat told tale enough of how the memories had stuck with you, too. Annie chimed in to talk now, looking to Smoke to confirm the details as she drew out her own event.
Bo’s hand rested atop your thigh, discreet and comfortable as he continued talking to your friends. His thumb rubbed against this softer skin of your innermost part, inching dangerously close to the apex but remaining just shy of it. The right thing to do would’ve been to remove it, but you just couldn’t. Your heart hadn’t raced this way since you were last together, tracing every inch of his skin in effort to memorize him.
He slipped into helping you clean up, washing up while you stored away leftovers. Your friends were long gone by the time you finished, and you could feel your heart thrum at the realization that you were fully alone with him. In your house. Hidden under the cover of night, under the protection of magnolia that shielded you from outside judgment.
Bo, who had spent the better part of the night pushing your boundaries, stood across the kitchen towel in hand. The moonlight cast a halo over his bronze toned skin, the Mississippi sun baking him after long days moving shipment. Sun-kissed and lovestruck, he looked up at you.
“I thought my life had to look a certain way, that’s why my parents came to this country. But I don’t want any of that with just anyone, baby love. I’ve been wired to tick all the boxes, and I’ve been racing toward a finish line I don’t even wanna cross no more. Not without you,” he closed the distance between you, careful not to move too suddenly. “This could be our shot. We deserve a second chance.”
It was exactly what you wished he said years ago instead of completely restructuring his life around her. “What about your life with Grace?”
“I told her we were done the moment you left the store,” he tossed the towel over your shoulder to the sink, pulling your hips square against his. “I’d rather be single than with anyone but you.”
His lips ventured forward at a snail pace, eyes darting between yours and your eyes as he waited for you to protest. To push at his chest or turn away. Instead, your breath was baited, anticipating the taste of his mouth on yours again. The exploratory smack of his lips sucking at your bottom one, tugging at it before swooping in for a real kiss. He inhaled sharply as you melted into him, hands cupping his head as you arched against him.
The thin barrier of your dress did nothing to dull the feeling of his chiseled chest against your pert nipples. Something about the warmth of his body on yours clouded your brain with nothing but unholy thoughts, panties dampening as Bo hoisted you onto the counter like you weighed nothing. His tongue swirled around yours as he unbuttoned his shirt, buff arms freeing themselves from the now suffocating article of clothing.
Shirtless under the soft glow of your kitchen lights was a sight for sore eyes. His hair was pushed back, slick with a mixture of product and sweat that made it glisten. “Let me make love to you, baby.”
Bo’s lips abandoned his wet suckling of your lips and trailed down your neck, between the valley of your breast and down your delicate stomach that flipped at the contact. His head disappeared underneath your dress, fingers hooking into your underwear to slide them down your legs. You didn’t know how you ended up sprawled across your kitchen with Bo Chow lapping his tongue at your dripping folds on a balmy summer night. How you went from forcing yourself not to think about him to now, with his head bobbing up and down as his tongue plunging as far inside you as he could reach.
He still knew your body better than anyone who tried to fill his shoes after your heartbreak— and he still derived pleasure from fulfilling you. His whiny groans into your pussy sent vibrations that rocked your nerves as you pulled him flush into the crux of your legs, basking in every lap of his tongue. “Bo” was all you could manage to cry out, gasping as he pried your legs apart to shake his head back and forth as he ate you.
Orgasm was imminent and he knew it in the way your hips rolled, impatient squirms turning into desperate twitching that only climax could subdue. He pulled away with arousal coating his nose and chin, not bothering to wipe as he kissed you just as messily as he was eating you out. You welcomed the kiss, palming him through his trousers as he leaned over your spent frame.
He unburdened himself of those very pants as your fingers thread through his hair, completely taken with the taste of yourself on his mouth. His cock grazed between your lips to gather your wetness before sinking into you, moaning against the side of your jaw. So wet, so warm, so tight. The slick heat of your pussy in the reunion he feared he’d never get.
With all the buildup from Bo’s ravenous slurping, the pressure of him brushing your g-spot tipped you right over the edge, climax pulling you under the current of waves of Bo’s making. The cabinet beneath you shook as he fucked you through the aftershocks, using the creaminess of your orgasm as extra lubricant. He dribbled an extra splatter of spit on your clit just to be safe before stealing forward again, hips rolling in time with his thumb’s circles against your pearl.
Bo was on a mission to make you see the stars, his own high nowhere at the forefront of his mind. “You gon’ cum for me again, honey?”
There were tears spilling out the corners of your eyes as you clawed at his back. “Bo, please, give it to me.” The wet slaps of his skin with each thrust rang throughout the kitchen, enveloping your ears in a vulgar symphony of depravity. He knew better than to switch up anything he was doing, knowing you’d fall apart as long as he kept doing exactly what he was.
And fall apart you did with one last kiss to your sweet spot, muscles tensing up just to go lifeless in the same breath. Bo kept you from falling over the edge of the countertop as your body convulsed with the current of ecstasy running through it. The wind was effectively blown from your lungs in the midst of your rapture, and you gasped for air as you finally cut through the hazy mist of bliss.
“Fuck, ___, I-I’m—” The intensity of Bo’s climax interrupted his own words, heat rippling from his head to his toes as he came in heavy spurts. Rivulets slipped out of you as his cum filled you up more than you could take, adding to the glossy mess that was already there.
He kept his eyes trained on your puffy pussy lips, watching the cum leak out of you as he pulled his pants back on. “D-Don’t…”
Your breath was shaky, heart pounding in your ears from everything he’d put your body through— and what the look on his face told you he was going to do. “Oh, c’mon, baby love. I just miss you ’s all. Lemme give you a couple more.”
And then his mouth was back to sucking at your clit, shamelessly swallowing the salty taste he’d left behind to pull another high-pitched scream from your throat.
I’m looking forward to any new fics you have planned for this year!🫶🏾🩷
Omg thank you for being excited for my writing. I'm officially gonna start writing a few chapters of this story I've been kinda floating around of making. I can't wait to write the first chapter of it!
Do you have a masterlist of both your old and new works?
I realized I have old pics on here and I never put them on my Masterlist but I'm going to definitely tag them on there under something called "OG Fics" or the "Classics" to have them since I see alot of people are reading my old pics I made for people.
Hi! I'm good, I appreciate you for asking about me. I hate that I abandoned this page and haven't wrote anything because of life and alot of things had been going on these last 2 years but I'm back at a point when I'm better and think I wanna get back into writing do a whole revamp.
Fez had taken a liking to ○Y/N○. More than a liking, he was in love. He didn't know it, but there was a time she waited for him to sweep her up and tell her that she was his peace, among the chaos that he thought was his life. He never did take that opportunity though. Plus there was nothing he could do about it, she already had someone now.
"Hey Fezco, Hi Rue." Rue wasn't really paying you any mind but she acknowledged your presence with a simple wave, her mind was occupied with her phone. Possibly Jules. You thought. Fez on the other hand, you had his undivided attention, as always whenever you walked through his store, his eyes would never leave you. This was all he could get with you. Little glances.
"You look really pretty today." There it was your smile. He didn’t understand how a human smile could make him feel the way he did. Fez felt like his whole mood was dependent on how you felt that day. If you were happy, he was in complete bliss. Pissed off about work, he was just as annoyed with you. And if you were sad mainly because of your boyfriend, well he wanted to kill the motherfucker.
"T-Thank you Fezco." He looked at you with those puppy eyes as you liked to call them. You didn't mean to stare so long at him without uttering another word, it was just you never really got to look at him. You were an observer, you liked watching people. Made you feel as though you could tell what type of person they were with just their actions when they thought no one was watching them. But with Fez, you could never look at him. Your boyfriend was usually walking around in the store with you, so you tried to only have eyes for him even if you wanted to stare deep into Fez blue eyes.
"You welcome, ○Y/N○...Ash been wondering when you could help him with his English homework, they reading Shakespeare or some shit."
"I'll stop by tonight, just let me run it by Lamar. He doesn't like me to be out so late." Fez noticed how tense you became after you spoke your boyfriend's name. Lamar was a cool dude, before he shipped off to the military he was a complete gentleman, showering you with compliments and helping you with your sister. Yet he changed once he completely had you to himself. He became passive aggressive and rude. Arguments were all you two did now. He never would hit you, but you knew one day he would snap.
"Cool, I'll be waiting by the door. '' Fez didn't know how much you liked tutoring Ash, you thought he was an intelligent kid given shitty circumstances, just like you. Your mama was someone who made a lot of mistakes and her sins damaged you, so when she birthed your sister you stepped up hard to be that motherly figure and you were really trying hard.
"You look very handsome as well, Fezco. I'll see you and Ash later." Taking your chips after he cashed you up. You walked away, you wanted to look behind you and get one more glance at him. Yet you knew better than to. You had a boyfriend, he was a good man. And you cared for him.
"You two are so weird."
"Rue shut the hell up." She chuckled.
"What? You're the one flirting with ○Y/N○, going you look very pretty." She tried mimicking his chill monotone way of speaking which earned a laugh from him. He didn't think he sounded like that.
"I was just telling her she looks beautiful."
"Yeah and you eye fucked her as she walked around this store. Your eyes never left her sight."
"I thought your ass was on your phone."
"I am, I can multitask."
"Me and ○Y/N○ just cool, Rue. She's a good girl and a good friend."
"And you wanna do some unholy things with her. We know she's not happy with Lamar's crazy ass, so when she comes over, show her how much better you would treat her."
"You know when you stop doing drugs, you're a really smart kid. I like the sober Rue."
"Most people do."
✦ ・ . • . • .
"Baby, it's Ashtray. You know how I help him out with his schoolwork. What's your issue? Everytime I tell you something you have to blow up!" You were getting sick of Lamar's jealous behavior. Emotionally you were tired of going through thus with him, he trailed behind you as you tried putting on your slides, getting ready to leave the house.
"I don't give a damn about Ashtray! Fuck that little boy, but I don't want yo ass around hus ginger ass brother. You so fucking clueless to your surroundings, you don't see how he be looking at you."
"I don't care about him having a thing for me, you should trust and respect me to not let him do anything to jeopardize our relationship. You have!"
"Don't bring that shit up again, me and that girl was just a one time thing and I told you I don't love her."
"You might not love her, but you couldn't stay away from her Lamar! I was here being so good to you, do you know how embarrassing it was to hear from my coworker that they saw you? I gotta go, I'm late anyway." You weren't gonna argue with this man anymore. You told him countless times to trust you and he wouldn't take that leap.
"You walk out of this house, yo shit will be outside! I'm not done with you ○Y/N○."
"Throw it out, Lamar. I've been looking for a way to leave your ass." Walking out the apartment door, you texted your sister, telling her to sleep at a friend's house. You didn't want her alone with Lamar, even though he never hurt her. He could and you didn't need to feel guilty if you let her go home that night.
The walk to Fezco house was long and silent as you just were in your thoughts. He stepped out on you deep into your relationship. You two just moved in together and of course him not knowing how to handle living with someone else. There were fights, not explosive fights, yet you two didn’t wanna be around each other.
You remember how excited you were to make it up for him, you always feel like you’re a burden to people so when anything might go wrong, you’re quick to try and make it right even if it’s not your fault. You were in your thoughts thinking up ways to make it up to him, when the look your coworker, Pam gave you, alerted you she knew some shit. She had that look of guilt.
You remember trying to stop any emotion to show, but you cracked and felt a tear flow and told her "it will be handled."
You finally made it to the Fezco front door, you barely touched it before he opened it. His smile really could make you feel good. You wouldn't tell him this, but his lips were your favorite feature to stare at. He just looked like he needed a good kiss from someone.
"○Y/N○! I was thinking you weren't gonna come, Ash been asking me questions like I'm some literature genius." Letting out a laugh, Fez watched you. You wore this green dress blouse that complimented your brown skin neck accompanied with a gold necklace, he could see you weren’t wearing a bra. Which had him blushing, you were the type to come out of the house with your legs the only thing shown. He knew Lamar was the reason behind that.
"Fezco you're like the smartest dude I know, don't play yourself like that." You two just stared at each other, fez didn't really know what to say. A thank you could have worked but he was honestly in bliss.
"Finally you came! Come on, I wanna finish before dinner comes." Ashtray could give a damn about you two flirting with each other right now.
"We'll talk later sweetheart."
"Okay."
✦ ・ . • . • .
"First off everyone knows that Monsters Inc. is the best disney movie, I don't care what anyone says. It’s a classic." You and Ash finally finished his homework and Fez wouldn't let you leave without getting something to eat. He really knew how to make a home cooked meal, he really had to raise himself and Ashtray just like you and your sister.
“Naw sweetheart that movie with the maid looking chick who had the glass slipper, that is a classic.” Fez really liked watching movies, to him it was a nice escape from the shitty environment he was in, and was a good bonding moment for him and Ash. But now it was becoming his chance to know you a little more personally.
“Fezco, are you talking about cinderella? Omg! Baby, that can't be your favorite movie!"
"What! It got a good message."
"What's the message then Fezco?"
"Being a good person will be worth it in the long run. Yeah when shit go wrong, you might wanna give a fuck you to the world. But if you keep your head up and still show kindness to the world and yourself. I feel like prince charming ain't gonna be too far away." You could feel something in your chest swell. You two never really had deep conversations, but you knew when Fez talked, he definitely had something wise to say.
“In a way I feel like you’re cinderella.” Taking your eyes away from the Tv, you had to give Fez a confusing look. To you happy endings were not in your book, even though you longed for it.
“What do you mean?”
“You have a kind soul, despite the shit with your mom. You kept the kind spirit and raised your sister. Prince Charming, you just ain't found him yet.”
“E-Excuse me…” You could feel yourself getting hot, Fezco never spoke his disdain of Lamar out of respect for you and the relationship. But everyone knew they weren’t cool with each other, Fezco thought he was a little bitch with anger issues and Lamar knew how much Fezco wanted you and hated how close you two were.
“I know you’re not happy sweetheart, you don’t think I noticed how out of it you were.”
“Um we just had an argument and I think we’re done with each other.” Fez wanted to smile out of happiness, but he could tell now wasn’t the time to do all that. Would be a dickish move.
“Question is are you gonna go back if he crawls back.”
“I-I don’t know. He’s not a bad guy, he just has some issues but who doesn’t.”
“Well let him go to a fucking therapist, and let him work that shit out himself.” Letting out a slight smile, you listened to what he said. He wasn’t wrong, the thing between you and Lamar has run its course, but somehow you couldn’t just stop wanting to help Lamar through his battles. “I want to be your prince charming ○Y/N○, but I know it won’t be easy to let him go. So I just want you to make the right choice whatever it may be. Imma always rock with you even if you decide fuck us both and you be on your single journey shit.” You let out a laugh.
“Could I stay here for the night, just for tonight.”
“Yeah take my bed, I’ll sleep on the couch.”
“Oh no Fez, I’ll sleep on the couch. It’s really not serious.”
“Go get in the bed ○Y/N○.”
“Fine.” Walking to his room, you watched as he made the couch, trying to make it comfortable for him.
