Elsie raised an eyebrow at that, her gaze moving from the scene in front of them to the blonde out of the corner of her eye. “What did you expect?” She asked, lifting her head off the others shoulder to look at her properly. “Well, you know…they make the spy thing seem more glamorous than is is.”

“No it’s not the glamorizing. I didn’t expect to be put in these positions” Felicia pinched at the bridge of her nose “I’m more of a solo act you see. Here --- it’s all about team work and cooperation. Dealing with people and it’s just something I didn’t see myself doing.” She could handle the jobs. It was the connections that caught her off guard.

Elsie waited, staying awake the whole time: it was nice to drive like this, in a comfortable silence through abandoned roads and clear skies. She liked the night. It had an air of mystery around it, and a type of danger to accompany it, one that she just couldn’t ignore. “You know, you can sleep if you want. You look shattered, love.”

“It’s the contacts they keep altering my vision---” though she had to admit she could take a little cat nap. Felicia stretched slightly, her hands extending above her head as she laid the seat back. “We could both sleep --- it’s not like we’re being followed. I’m pretty sure we’re in the clear.”

As Felicia spoke, Elsie looked back out at the scenery, a small sigh of content leaving her throat. Travel was the best part of her job, being able to see brilliant places like this. It almost made the pain seem worthwhile. “When you’re stuck in a situation like ours, peace can be a threat. You just have to learn to make the most of it, and of the people your with. No use living a life where you feel threatened by innocent things.” She hummed, closing her eyes briefly as they sat there.

Felicia nodded a bit nonchalantly, brows perking, and head slightly weaving towards Elsie. “I guess you’re right about that” she mumbled in a slight haze. Though she wouldn’t fully realize the impact of the brunettes words until much later. “In all honesty this isn’t what I imagined when I signed on to do this thing” she admitted quietly, lips pursed in thought. “It’s pretty much the complete opposite.”

After Ultron was defeated — honestly, she hadn’t thought that far into the future. She’d assumed she’d just continue working for SHIELD if she hadn’t died in battle, as that was really where she’d been most of her adult life so far. Elsie hoped, however, she was still close to Felicia: her feelings for the girl were a mix of admiration and adoring, and their time together was spent well. “Sounds brilliant. I’ll drive.” She chuckled, nudging Felicia with her forehead and sighing.

“I’m okay with this” Felicia grinned before her eyes melted against the scene in front of her. “Things don’t look like such a mess from up here---” it was quite the opposite. Peaceful. Quiet. “---I’m not entirely sure if I should be weary or enjoy it.” A soft chuckle fell from her lips as she shifted comfortably against Elsie. It was actually kind of nice. Good company. Good conversation. Good bottle of scotch. She wouldn’t mind sticking around for a moment longer. Felicia was always on the run --- it was different; staying put.

“Yeah I have and I was going to say that it’s almost as boring as this conversation.” With a quick shrug of her shoulders she shooed the shield away from her face. “Also slut shaming is frowned upon on this side of the world. So if you actually meant promiscuous then yes, yes I am. Feel free to be satisfied in calling me what I am -- a thief and a woman who is comfortable with her sexuality -- I’m just as satisfied as with it than you are, pet. “Ah, pet. How you charm me.” Elsie moved some of her hair, eyes closing for a brief second as they drove. She listened to the radio, opening on eye as Felicia fumbled about with the stations. “Hm? Fine, fine. How about you, love?”

“I’m fine --- we’re almost there by the way” she tilted her head a bit to feel the rush of the wind through her hair. For once the night was cool and crisp and not filled with gasoline and smoke. A few minutes later they finally reached an open space far away from any possible tells. Felicia shut off the engine and sat back in her seat. Eyes slightly dazed as she tried to blink away the blurriness that resided there. Stupid contacts.

Felicia fumbled with the radio, turning the dial to find the a station that didn’t produce only static. When she found one she shrugged slightly.
